I have already ranked out in it Ed, but one word of advice — until you get used to the game, go into the options and put a check-mark in the box indicating that you don’t want to give clues. I left that option checked the whole time I was ranking out, but if you begin to feel more comfortable about the game, you can go back and uncheck it if you wish. Good luck.
I played the free trial of this game. I do like the game, but I can do without the hostility and ugliness of the players. They must all forget that they were once a newbie too! I would enjoy getting together with a bunch from BH, so please count me in.
I agree, a BH gathering would make me want to sign up. I did the free trial and thankfully the room was patient with me and told me about the “Non Cluegiver” box after I apologized for bobbling a round for them, but there are a lot of codes they use. It is pretty easy to catch on if you watch a few games.
If we get enough people and there is a sale on the download, I’d be there.
I’d love to have a group though we would need a lot of members as we won’t always be available at the same times. We should have scheduled times eg in the evening so players can convene. At $9.95 the price won’t get better.
How long did it take to rank out. Lura, how might you feel about starting a page for a BH Word Riot Club?
There’s a nice group of people that play around 7:30 p.m. CST. One day I discovered that group and found that it was most enjoyable. Yes, it’s near impossible to escape the dramacrats who start bickering and cursing folks out — especially those hung up on rating players.
Sometimes I’m terrified to play that game just because of being put on the spot as clue giver. As suggested above, use the “Non Cluegiver” box in the options for the first several games and breathe a sigh of relief. Once the gears are greased after a few games, untoggle the box and feel more at ease.
I don’t remember what rank I’m at but it couldn’t be ridiculously high. Admittedly, it’s difficult to find time (and players) for that game when the mood strikes.
Ed, I would be interested in playing with a BH group. I purchased the game quite awhile ago and only played a few times because of the people in the rooms. Most seemed to have played on Pogo before and had no patience with newbees. It was not worth it to play in a hostile environment although the game itself was fun.

Gecko,
There’s a sale going on now – only $9.95. Don’t know, you might want to wait on buying it to see if others are interested in playing.
I didn’t wait, though; I just bought it today…don’t know when another sale will be happin’. I’m good to go…. ;-)

Here’s a link to Ed’s question about organizing a Word Riot Badge Club:
