Word Riot Badge Club?

I heard Word Riot is extremely fun and easy to rank out and I thought about buying the game, but then I heard ppl saying there ‘s never enough players to fill a table, some other saying that existing “groups” are not very friendly to newcomers, especially if they are new and don’t know well how to play. But if a group comes out count me in ;)
About Pinochle…I will love that too, I don’t like it, for me games are on slowww motion with all those tiny musical notes and it takes for ever for one rank, but I’m not a good player lol

Thanks Nessa, I had all those experiences personally after buying the game some time ago. Hopefully you will enjoy focusing on the badges to start with until we all learn the game together :-)

If I remember correctly, in Word Riot, although you choose a room in which to play, you do not get to choose partners, so not sure whether or not your idea will work.

I would definitely be interested in joining a word riot group as I can never find a room with anyone in when I want to play although like Jason there might be issues with meeting anyone as I am from the UK

I would like to join the group, but I’m hung-up by your post about playing for rank badges. I don’t play a game for ranks; I play it ’cause I enjoy the game. I’ve only played this game twice (yelled at both times), so I really don’t know how to play it. I’d like to join, but I don’t want to upset anyone. Ranks and badges are good, but it’s not what I focus on, sorry.

So, I will let you decide if I fit into the group. It’s all good; no worries…

Nice to see all the interest in Word Riot. I have finished the ranks, but loved the game. I have written into LTTE & Customer Service that adding ranks and badges (and words) to the game was probably the only way to see a resurgence. If more and more people are interested and write in, maybe someday it will happen and there wont be an issue about getting a certain number of people to play at the same time.

I wish they had kept it as a game on the main site, not just as download (pay extra) game. I am thinking that has alot more to do with the lack of people playing than anything else.

You can count me in for Word Riot…I’m after the badges as well as the many mini costumes this game has to offer. I do however need to play for many more hours before being a cluegiver. I have been in a room with as many as 19 other players and just opted out of being a cluegiver so it really was not a problem. But, it is hard to find a room with enough players so, this is a great idea…

I do not pay Pogo’s HIGH prices for download games…I get mine at another site for $5.00…and have not had any problems with any of the games. @sheljin: They took word riot away not because of the lack of people, but because people were getting out of control. Some people put vulgar things as clues. Others would freak out and start yelling at someone because they gave a bad clue. It sucked because just a couple of people cause everyone to be punished. At least now only serious players play…..no more of the childish nonsense.

@clelliotts79 – Sorry if I wasn’t clear before; I was not saying they took the game away because of lack of people wanting to play it.

I was commenting on Rudd’s post where he said he thought that Pogo would need to add badges/ranks in order to help the game became more popular again. My point was that I believe the main reason that there are not a lot of people playing the game is because it is only available as a download. I do remember the whole mess that happened to cause it being pulled from the gamesite and that really was a shame.

I’d be interested, but my time is limited as I am in full time classes and have 5 kids. If I can join in when it’s possible, I would love to! I own the game and never play for most of those reasons.

word riot was one of the games i first became interested in on pogo, lol after word whomp and poppit of course! lol. it has always brought a lot of haters and i think that’s why pogo took it off the regular site. lol geez if 5 people weren’t kicked out per hour (we used to be able to kick them out for whatever reason) lol, i thought something was wrong.

i’ve ranked out in this game, still love the game, lol and don’t play as often anymore cause ….lol well i don’t have a good reason.

it’s a game of patience to start with, and paying attention to how words are clued. but if there is a room for all the bh’ers happening i’ll be there. good luck!

Please hang in there for me. I just started a new position and have to pull together a national sales meeting in less than 2 weeks. Once the meeting ends (next Wednesday) I will have more time to review everyone’s messages and announce how we will start.

I respect that some of you just want to play the game. At first, I would like to concentrate on badges (others have posted likewise). That said, we may have enough folks total to have 2 types of groups and I would be delighted to facilitate both.

I’d also be interested to join your group if you ever get this thing into gear. I never had the guts to buy this game because of all the stories I heard. Meeting once a week with the BHers sounds fun. Usually by the time I get to do the weekly badges, the designated rooms Lura posts never have any BHers in them. I would definitely be in this for the badges and especially for the Minis. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for updated messages on this forum from you, but you can also reach me in my message box, screen name same as here: greentwilit. I’ve never played this game, so I don’t know the conventions, though I do have a degree in English Lit., so I hope that helps!

i would LOVE to help out with a word riot club! I ranked out in the game within a few days (was a rioter from original pogo so it was fairly easy). Would love to have more players join the game since I find it to be the BEST that pogo has ever offered.
For those that have never played or never understood, I put a post in the pogo forum under the downloadable games/word riot section with a detailed explanation of the basics, it’s titled “newbies guide to playing riot”. I know that being a download game can be a challenge during these rough economic times.. if it’s an issue let me know, may be able to help out in that area as well :)

Ed, I am happy to see your desire to set up a club for Word Riot. I am interested in “ranking up”. I have played a few times with no particular bad experience, there just was limited times when you could find rooms with people playing the game. I am ranked out in “pinochle” except for the rating badges. I loved pinochle and was a fairly good player and would take risks that left my partner breathless at times but then they regained their breath when we won the game by taking the risk. It was fun!. This is a great idea and sounds like a lot of fun. Definitely count me in!! Unfortunately, I work 2nd shift and usually do most of my pogo playing between Midnight and 6 am Eastern Time (U.S.). On my days off I usually log on as early as 6 pm. My Pogo name is same as the one used here. ;-)

I’m interested in both groups. I’ve played some Word Riot, but I always am fearful to be the cluegiver with the group already formed in there. They can be very nasty and are very tight with their group. I don’t feel welcome, so I haven’t played in awhile.

I’ve never played Pinochle, but I’d love to join and rank out there too!
