Can someone help me who has Windows 7? I just upgraded from XP and am finding no gadgets. I’m coming to BadgeHungry because of all the wonderful people here. Thanks for your help.
I just got my windows set up last week, if any 1 can help you it moms. I had a friend come in to set it up and it had most things on it . some things were taken off as she has 1 and said I didn,t need that. I had no back up or recovery cd so my hubby called them and they gave him a link and stayed with him till he got going , had to get java installed and update all my flash , also it came with mcfee security but I had to take it off cause already it was wanting me to buy this and that I put avast on it, but before it was hooked up she saved my favorites and pictures so I could put them on new computer. now I have a Lexmark 6200 series and it wouldn’t work with this so hubby emailed them and they gave him a link to get that working , all doing well. my new computer working very well right now, this is all I can say as I am not computer smart but there are people here who are great with help and moms helped me a lot with all my troubles she is the best I thought I would tell you this cause I just got mine set up and tried to let you know what was on it when I got mine also I don’t know what you mean by gadgets, so good luck ,, moms will help you , plus others here
@brendamattox As Moms said, what “gadgets” are you looking for? I have Win 7 installed new on this computer, had Win 7 upgraded from Win XP on my old computer. Most of the Microsoft and Windows “gadgets” and such are available for download from the Window Update and/or Microsoft Update websites. If you can tell us what you need or want more clearly, Moms, I or another user who is familiar with Win 7 may be able to help you find what you are looking for.
I have windows 7. Press the Start button. Then press ALL PROGRAMS. Then scroll to ACCESSORIES.. Scroll that to find WINDOWS SIDE BAR. You will find “Gadgets” there. (Pick and choose.) Hope this is what you’re looking for.
Lol! Jigsawing, I never even noticed that. I typed “Windows Side Bar” into the search box, and at the top I got 3 links to restore gadgets, add gadget to the desktop, and get more gadgets online. Like I need more gadgets on my desktop… but I am going to go see if any new goodies are available. ;)
Gadgets have been discontinued because the Windows Sidebar platform in Windows 7 & Windows Vista has serious vulnerabilities. So, you may not have these particular gadgets available if you have a newer version of Win7. And if you do, there are serious vulnerabilities presently. I believe this was implemented a few weeks ago.

You could likely find other gadgets by searching on the web.
HOCK9952 is correct. Gadgets have been discontinued. :( I liked them, too. I have a certification in Windows 7 so if you need any more assistance, let me know (Kcshebr in Pogo).
I have the Gadgets on my computer : HP W7,
I use the Weather Bug Gadget ,, it’s the only one I use…
HOCK… I clicked on the link you provided , but I dont understand it lol, cant even figure out how to get that Control Box up from the Picture on the Link !
*Bobbi* (bjvs1118) Thanks .. Should I really try to figure out how to remove Gadgets?
@ bjvs118: Hi Bobbi! It’s a personal choice concerning potential harm to
your computer. You can put a WeatherBug app (widget) directly on your desktop instead of using Windows Sidebar: http://weather.weatherbug.com
If you don’t use the Windows Gadgets, it would be prudent to disable them.
Thanks HOCK,,, I’ll find the time to read through the link again,,, & I do remember having the Weather Bug Widget from that site, but took it off for some reason. Thanks for the links!
HOCK9952- Thank you for the info about Gadgets being discontinued! I wondered why when I looked for them the other day, I could not find them, I have a ton of Gadgets on my desktop, but in looking at each one, mine are all from Dell, not Windows. But now I am wondering if they have the same security risk. Better safe than sorry, so i am disabling them until I can find out for sure.
What exactly are you looking for?
