“waiting for more player” box does not pop up?

All the games that you need to play with another player or a bot ex canesta, scrabble, spades i can not play for when it asks “waiting for more player” box does not pop up on the screen but i see a caution sign just below my screen where i can not get it does anyone know how that can be fixed? Thank you
