If one tries to buy a year’s subscription to Club Pogo at the Pogo website, it is $39.95. How can Origin attempt to sell the same one year subscription and be allowed to charge another $2.95 in tax?
I tried asking Origin and never got an answer.

they are following your state laws who require that you pay sales tax
Yep, it is taxable..ESPECIALLY here in Canada !! LOL
No game products from Pogo through Pogo are taxable. Illinois laws only charge taxes on businesses in Illinois and Origin is not Illinois based, thus should not charge tax. Game Stop does not charge tax on EA game cards. It still does not make sense why/how Origin would cost me $2.95 in taxes and Pogo does not charge tax for the same purchase. Any other explanations?
Actually I don’t believe that they have to be based in the State, they just have to have a location in a State to charge tax. EA/Pogo/Origin have locations in many States. I learned that during the short time that we had phone support.
EA game cards are not taxed anywhere, but gems are taxed if purchased from Pogo, where applicable. I was taxed 8.125% by Pogo when I purchased gems while living in Texas, but paid no tax on the EA game cards purchased in Texas. And I also paid tax on gems when I lived in New Jersey.
