I hope someone will have an idea on how to fix this. Ok here goes. When I go in say, Aces Up and click play. A new window will open for the game to start but that is where it stops. I have to use the F5 button to refresh that window to get the game to load.
I don’t remember if I have that trouble with FF and I have not been able to use IE for over a year on my laptop.

It happens most of the time, can’t say whether it is only flash or java games. I have cleaned everything ran malware checks but still have trouble.

Any ideas?

Do you have the latest Chrome update and Java installed?

I have just completed today’s Daily Challenge in Aces Up! and I didn’t have an issue with the game loading. Here’s an idea, have you tried loading the game without having the pop-out window? If you go to My Account and Sign-In, you will find the ‘Open games in a pop-up window’ option at the bottom of the page under the Security tab. Give it a try and see if the problem continues.

It happens to me occasionally. The popup comes up with just a blue swirl. I reload the page and then it is fine. I have the latest Chrome and Java.

I do have the latest version of Chrome and Java. I even lowered my java settings to medium and made sure that the game3 pogo address was listed as secure. When I unchecked the pop up window option the game window does pop up and seems to go in a loop trying to load.

strange,

Ok well it let me into the double deuce poker game just now so maybe it was a one off thing. I hope thanks for the advice. I think I will try a few more games just to make sure

Yes, this happens to me every time that I try to load an embedded game, whether it is Java or Flash based, on Chrome since early/mid December (after a big Windows update). It does not happen with non-embedded games or with “Flash-in-the Box” games. I cannot get F5 to work for me. I have had to resort to using Firefox which has its own Pogo issues.

I just tried Storm’s recommendation to drop the pop-up window option and it works! I tried a number of different games and they all opened successfully.

BTW I think that this is a Windows 7 issue, which is why Storm is not encountering it.

I don’t think it’s a windows 7 issue. I have Windows 7, and use Chrome almost exclusively to play games on Pogo. I have never had this problem in all the years I have been on Pogo, whether I was playing a Free account or a Club account from this computer. I have never had the “open in pop-up windows” setting checked. I think it has to do with the pop-up windows setting and Chrome (which is having some issues since it’s most recent update…) not playing well together. I do also play in an incognito window to keep too many temp files from building up, and if I have a game loading slowly using the Chrome tools to clear my browsing history always seems to fix it.

And Storm is just lucky and special… lol!

meme200784 – I’m glad it worked. We all know the embedded games were only ever designed to be on one page, so it’s not surprising there are sometimes issues with the pop-out windows. And you’re right, I’m using Windows 8.1.

BattyJanice – I use the incognito option for Chrome when I’m doubling browsing and it works great. I completely understand what you mean by building up temporary files. I have ALWAYS cleared everything when I close my laptop down and I don’t install/allow anything to be downloaded/run unless I know what it is.

I want to thank everybody and hopefully it will not be an issue for long. It does seem to happen around updates. I will have to try the incognito window I usually use Chrome and FF on my laptop. Gives me something else to play with. I do try to clear everything when I shut down for the night also. Lord know my laptop has enough problems as it is LOL It’s like me, getting old I think. I think it is at least 3 years old. Don’t want the new windows OS.

I’m not sure what’s going on, but when I logged on today with IE9 the games would not Pop Up (never happened before) … I read whats here & unclicked the box that says Open in a Pop Up Window & the games came up right away as Embedded (yuck) ,then I went back and put a check to have the games come up in a Window and No Games Popped Up. So back to Embedded for now on IE.

Firefox is okay (fingers crossed) but I’d like IE to work as it did last night :(

Java & Flash updated, cashes cleared.

Hope somebody hears news soon so we can get this to work correctly. Thanks

Oh, one more thing…. What is the *Incognito Option* you are talking about ?
Thanks

Storm replied 9 years ago

bjvs1118 – Incognito is the Google Chrome version of Internet Explorers InPrivate Browsing.

HOCK9952 replied 9 years ago

@ bjvs1118: You might have a pop-up blocker enabled. To do a pop-up test: http://www.pogo.com/misc/popup-blocker-test.jsp
You could also check your internet browser toolbars. Good luck!

bjvs1118 replied 9 years ago

Thanks Hock,,, I added that link,, but when I took the test I passed,,, I’ll see what happens tomorrow morning, I’m stumped! this just started today & only in IE9 for me. (((Gremlins at Work?)))

bjvs1118 replied 9 years ago
