I upgraded to the new OS 8 for iPad and now when clicking on pogo icon it opens then immediately closes. Have removed and readied twice still doing the same thing. I only upgraded iPad because pogo wasn’t working with OS 7.1.2 it was only showing half the game screen, so thought upgrade may fix it but it doesn’t work at all.

Yes, I posted a warning here on Wednesday…

There is also a post on the Pogo Forum…

Ok guys, if you are having a problem with the pogo app after upgrading to OS 8, you need to call ea games and let them know. I just spoke with a really nice guy, Lesley, and he is looking into it. He advised that everyone that is having a problem should call, not just email, and let them know. If they keep hearing from us, then hopefully they will come up with a fix for the problem
There’s just 1 problem with that. Pogo has no phone support unless you are one of the few picked for the pilot program.
Emailing Bret at editor@pogo.com , using your regular mail, not Pogo mail, is also a good suggestion. He can not fix it, but can forward it to the person or department that can.
Also, contacting Apple is another way to go. If Apple gets enough complaints they can light a fire under Pogo’s foot.
BTW – That suggestion about contacting Apple came from Ro. I forgot to mention that in my initial post.
She thinks that if you go to an Apple store that they may be able to put your device back to iOS 6 or 7. I don’t know if that’s possible, but I know I would be on my way to try it if I had upgraded my iPad.
Maybe I should have explained that a little better about the phone call. I actually went to the live chat option and once I entered a brief explanation of the problem, I was given the option to have them call me, so that is what i did. The phone rang almost immediately after I hit enter. Hope this helps.
I never upgraded my old iPad from iOS 6 to iOS 7, so I am lucky enough not to heave to deal the issues since then.. I did do a search for whether you can still downgrade from 8 back to 7, and here’s the best article with instructions I found, from yesterday:
http://osxdaily.com/2014/09/21/downgrade-ios-8-back-to-ios-7-1-2/
But if you are going to do it, hurry and do it! Apple tends to wait for a few days or so after a new iOS release, then makes it next to, if not completely, impossible to downgrade back to an earlier version. The article I gave a link to has detailed instructions to the best way to do it, and a link to a second (last resort) way to do it. Honestly, after reading the instructions, if Apple stores will do it for you for free or for a very small charge, it may be easier to run there first thing tomorrow (or today depending on your time zone) and have them do it. Lol!
Good luck!
Very nice find Janice!!
Thanks Moms. Lol! It was kind of coincidental that I saw this post at the same time I was searching for downgrade instructions anyway. I have a few friends and a partner who tend to jump on updates as soon as they come out, and always seem to regret it almost immediately after. And then come to me with sad puppy dog eyes asking if I can help them…lol!
Hopefully folks who want to downgrade will see this in time and will follow the instructions exactly.
Apple has unsigned the firmware for iOS 7.1.2 as of yesterday or today. The downgrade is no longer possible. Sorry folks.
They also unsigned 8.0.1 and have released 8.0.2, but I have no idea if it works with the Pogo App or not, and I am not about to update my iOS 6 device to find out, since I know I can;t roll back to 6 if it does not. The new 8.0.2 update is supposed to fix the problem of loss of cell signal and service, and loss of Touch ID that happened with 8.0.1, but I have found no reports of it fixing App problems with Pogo or other affected Apps.
