How does the scoring system work for Crossword Cove?

It seems to have no clear way of scoring the puzzle. Just when I breeze through it and think I’ve done great, I get a so-so score. Then when I struggle a bit and take a little more time than I think I should, I score higher. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I was just wondering if anyone has any insight into it. Thanks in advance. Padme
