Someone wrote in with a tip (THANK YOU!) on how to get the wedge — and therefore advance in rank — in TP without having to complete all 20 questions.

Has anyone tried this? Is the drawback that you don’t get tokens? Are there any other drawbacks?

Here are the details:

I just wanted to share a tip someone shared with me to get caught up on Trivial Pursuit. After getting the wedge(if you use the answers this will be question 10) completely close out the game screen then reenter the room. It will show as day completed and you will have your wedge. I personally like to have BH Trivial Pursuit answers on one side of my screen and the game window on the other. When I finish my wedge, I flip over to the game room list and click on the room I’m in. It refreshes the game room and I don’t have to keep closing the window.

You wouldn’t get the full complement of tokens, you have to answer all 20 questions in order to do that.

Interesting idea, wish I had known about it while ranking the game up. If it works it’s an awesome tip for ranking twice as fast, especially if you don’t care about tokies.

What I guess I should have asked as well is:

Does it actually work? Anyone want to go try?

Lura, I checked out the Trivia Pursuit ranking tip you received of only answering 10 questions until you get the daily wedge and then immediately reloading the room to start the next day.

I was able to complete a full week in less than 30 minutes. I did not have to exit the room and re-enter. I just right-clicked on the side of the game box and then hit “reload” and the room came back up pretty fast (for my computer lol). While I missed out on the big tokies for perfect games and completing the pie/week, I did still get credit for 1100 tokens per day. And, drumroll please, YES, I made rank progress. I moved from needing 3 pies for my next rank to needing 2 pies.

So, it works and the only downside I saw was the missing tokens. I am reconsidering going for my ranks again with this tip!

Please do not close out the question yet, though. There is something else I would like to try out first, but can’t do it tonight. Thanks.

Great, thanks Shel! Can’t wait for the next installment of your experiments! :)

I’m baack, Lura! lol I wanted to test what would happen, token-wise, if I chose to play full-games for the last pie-completion wedge, or for end of the week extra wedge.

When I played a full 20-question game for my 6th wedge (to complete the pie), I just got the usual daily tokens minus the bonus for playing on the right day (I was working back in November). So, no reason to switch back to full games.

However, it is definitely worth it token-wise to play a full game for the EXTRA wedge, to complete the week. Even though I had done the full pie as partial games, (stopping at question 10 after I hit 1100 and earned a wedge), playing the 7th day all the way through resulted in me earning 30,200 tokens for the week (in addition to the 6600 total I got for the 6 pie wedges). I got the 20/20 + 100% correct tokens, the daily completion bonus, the weekly completion bonus, and the extra wedge bonus.

If you are working on old puzzles, trying to rank up, you would earn less on your extra wedge puzzle even playing the full game, because you would not get the bonuses for completing the day & the week on the correct day. This would mean, using my totals from today, that you would get 19,700 tokens in that case.

So…..if I decide to do this, here will be my plan of attack: Play 6 partial games to earn the wedges & a pie. Play a full game for the extra wedge (7th day) in order to get the huge bonus tokens. I would do older puzzles throughout the week, but save the current week to do on Sunday to get the most bang-for-the-buck token-wise, because the extra wedge tokens would also include the bonuses for day and week completion on the correct day.

Done experimenting. lol
