I see that Pogo has changed next week’s challenge from 30 to 15 win a frozen pile game. Pogo’s description is the pile is frozen if a wild card is discarded. So to be clear, you have to play the rest of the hand without picking up the pile. Why not just set the game up that the pile can never be picked up? My inquiring canasta mind wants to know.

Being a long time Canasta player, that is not the way I interpret the requirements. True that discarding a wild card freezes the discard pile, it can be picked up if you have or can make meld and hold two natural cards in your hand of the card that is discarded to you. The game continues normally after that unless it is “frozen again” at which time the two naturals in your hand come into play again.

Their game option of the discard being frozen throughout the game is different and never heard of in the version I learned and have played since the Ark sailed.

I could be wrong about what Pogo wants for this badge, but then who among us really knows what Pogo wants or expects? :)

I agree with your interpretation tmooer. I too have been playing the game for a long time. Seems like Pogo has some more “splaining” to do. We have a week to get clear what the challenge actually is.

Thanks

It will probably be trial and error next week to see which option Pogo wants for the badge. Before they added their explanation on Badge Central I thought they wanted the game to be played with the game option. One day they will learn to explain themselves better….or at least we can hope they do :)

I did a live chat with them and THEY DON’T know themselves. She kept saying this and that and I said, you’re not answering my question. Does playing ONE hand with a frozen pile suffice to win the game or do we have to set NO PICK UP option and she could not answer me and ended up saying “now I’m confused” and I lol’d her. She said she would refer the question and give more clarity but I doubt it will happen before tomorrow when we try it…they do need to “splain” better, lol. Good luck all.

I just saw on pogo where they did clarify it…Has to be NO PICK UP option and they lowered it again to win 8 games,so at least we know for tomorrow…YAY.
