Why are people so hateful in Boggle Bash? Last time we had a weekly challenge in there someone accused me of being a bot and told me I was “absolutely disgusting with no life”. I’ve never used those auto-player things. I do use a website to help me find words for Boggle Bash (as well as other word games). I love the word games, but I’m not good at finding words. I couldn’t believe how rude this person was. My thing is, how is me using a website to help me find words any different than getting the answers to TP + CC (which I also do)?

People playing Boggle aways complain about the Bots. Guess they want to have the best score and get more tokens. Bots in Boggle have no affect on my game or my rank. But the complainers have been in every room I have played in. Sorry people were mean to you.

I ranked out in Boggle Bash and have never used a site to find words, for any game. The best compliment I ever got was when someone accused me of being a bot. I thanked him and told him that he had made my day….he left :)

I played TP without the answers for at least the first year that it was out b/c I love trivia. Once in awhile I still do it on my own, like the other week when someone mentioned it was all about Disney. The best I’ve ever done on my own is 18/20.

Now Crossword Cove is a different thing all together. I do not like crossword puzzles, never have. And if I didn’t use the answers I would never do any of the puzzles….except for a badge….LOL

You just have to learn to mute the people that are rude. I find that playing with a bot in Boggle Bash is a plus….you always make the goal. You don’t get anything special for coming in first so really doesn’t matter.

I play most games like that with chat turned off.

GxGirl614 replied 12 years ago

Jummmy – that’s good advice! I haven’t played Boggle Bash since that challenge because of what that person said. I tried not to let it bother me, but for that much hatred over a simple game just bothered me. I think from now on I’ll just turn the chat off and not worry about it! I seen on this site before that someone reported a bot in boggle bash, could I get reported/suspended too? That does worry me, though I feel I’ve done nothing wrong. I’m still typing in all the words.

oklady – thanks. Guess I just need to ignore it.

Moms – I tried playing without the site and did really, really bad! I’m frankly just really bad at finding words. TP I’m not very good at either. When I did the Thanksgiving badge, oh goodness! It was horrible, until I started getting repeats of all the random questions!

I’m sorry that those people were rude to you. The old adage of Thumper is right, “If you can’t say nothin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.”

With that said, I’d like to answer your question as well as your secondary questions and hope it comes out the right way.

When you play with others, the playing field should be level. In boggle Bash, it’s not quite fair if one person is using a help site when no one else is. It’s my understanding that you get extra tokens (I know, woop-de-doo, tokens) for unique words. So I understand their frustration that they are trying to play the game the way it was meant to be played, without help. Might I suggest playing in an empty room?

Secondly, it’s different with TP and CC because it’s just you. You’re not competing with anyone. Besides, TP and CC are a game that you do at your own pace. You can play BB for 24 straight hours and be at rank whatever. But in TP and CC, you’re bound by the calendar. Here’s what I’m trying to say. Get help all you want in TP and CC. It’s for you and you alone. But as for BB, the game is meant to be played competitively.

I’m not telling you how to play. Play however you want. Just trying to help you maybe understand their side. However, they should be been nice and tried to explain that to you, perhaps.

I don’t care about ppl using programs (auto players or anagram solvers) when playing a game like Boggle Bash, I just play my game and try to do my best. This game, well word games in general, are very challenging for me because english is not my first language but they are very gratifying (is this the right word, lol) when I see I do better than other ppl, that’s why I was sooooo happy when I got my 10 letter word and my badge.

Now to answer the question about how it is different from using TP and CC answers, it is different because in BB you are playing againts other ppl and using a web site gives you advantage over them which some ppl think it’s unfair.

I have always liked word games and am pretty good with them. When I discovered Boggle Bash, I was instantly hooked and ranked out pretty quickly – still looking for that 10 letter word, though. And I pretty much agree with pastorpapabear as to using “help” in solving the puzzles. What fun is that? And it takes away the challenge of the game, in my opinion. When I first started playing my scores were not all that great – 40’s and 50’s, but I can generally get into the 70’s and 80’s, with an all-time high of 107. So I do tend to get irked when I suspect people are using “help”, but unless they are totally arrogant jerks I try and keep my thoughts to myself or find another room without folks who score in the 200’s and 300’s.

I didn’t realize there was a higher token pay out. I can understand them getting irritated, but not the downright rudeness. From now on I’ll just find a room to play alone! I don’t think it takes the fun out at all, no more than using the answers to TP, but that’s just my opinion! Thanks for the advice, tips, and opinions. :)

It would take the fun out of the game for me, but that is how I am. I don’t use the answers for Trivial Pursuit and I play the UK and US. After I finished the game to rank 50, I reset my stats and am at 40 the second time around. But these two games are my favorite type of game, so I get a rush when I do well on them. Maybe you can play with your helper and it will assist you in getting better at seeing the words without the helper. But I know from my experience with the game, the more I have played it the better I am at seeing more and longer words. It’s really a great game, so don’t give up on it.

I am also sorry that you were treated so rudely by that person in Boggle Bash – it was totally uncalled for. These ARE just games. That said, I have to echo pastorpapa and suggest that people using the help sites might do better to play in an empty room for this particular game. Not only would it be safer for you (see below), but you are not interested in one of the key aspects of the game anyway: the competition.

I have not played ALOT of BB, but I have played for badges and for enjoyment and, luckily, have never experienced anything that bad. In fact, most BB rooms I have played in have people congratulating each other, wishing GL, etc. This is another reason why it is different from TP and CC – it is much more interactive.

I totally get that the game may be hard for some people, and completely frustrating. But if you like word games, like me, the fun of the game is the challenge of it and seeing how you do against others. When I am doing the absolute best I can, typing and flipping and searching, feeling the adrenaline, just to end the round and see someone SO far ahead of me, it takes a little bit of the fun out of the game for me. We are competing against other people in the room. The game “salutes” the top players in different categories also. It is a competitive game and as such, it is part of the enjoyment for people who like the game, to actually compete against people honestly. For people who love the game and are striving to do their best, coming in at the top can be a real rush!

The obsession with auto-programs and cheat sites by the people who don’t use them takes away the enjoyment of the game, too. I always try to tell people that they can’t KNOW when someone is using one and that they should just let it go. I know people do report people and I frankly don’t know how/if Pogo tries to evaluate an account for cheat programs or not. That is another reason to suggest playing in an empty room, for your own benefit and safety. I would hate to see someone as angry as the person who was rude to you causing you even more trouble with Pogo. What people can’t see, they can’t report.

Sorry again for such an upsetting incident.

I have to add my 2 cents, because i just answered another question about BB.I play the game because i like all the word games & i did say something about “bots”,but i have never said anything in the chat about a bot or said anything to anyone. The reason being, i don’t have time to say anything.I just wanted to let GXgirl that i would never be rude to anyone in any game. I do have to admit that i get very angry at myself because i can’t get any higher than 46.Also, i didn’t know anything about using another site for more answers. I also agree with Sheljin, i like the challenge, but after playing so many games in 1 night & not getting past my score of 46 is really frustating, but it’s a fun game & i’m just going to keep playing & trying & maybe someday i’ll do better!

Keep in mind that a unless ur working on a badge requiring longer words, a 3-letter word counts just as much as a 10-letter word towards ur word count. Once you have the 10 letter word badge, the key to ranking up is simply to get as many words as possible so type in all the 3- and 4- letter words, which will maximize your word count with a lower irritation factor for other players.

If the goal requires 5 letter words, than sure go ahead and enter some so that you can qualify for the bonus spin. There is a badge when youve completed 750 bonus spins. And, always play through and finish round 3 (panic flip round) as there is a badge for 2,000 panic flips.

Brenda replied 12 years ago

First, I would like to say, no matter what anyone else may chat in whatever game you’re playing, do NOT let their behavior take control over you.
The best resort would be to mute that player. You don’t have to turn chat off completely, but can.
Chat is off most of the time in BB anyway & *for me* too short to chat when it is on between rounds. IF I do, it’s simply gg, wtg, nice words, ty, or use a quick emoticon.

I have never had a bad experience in BB. Fortunately, I have seen exactly the opposite. Guess I get others who appreciate the skill of the game.
And, even though it is a muti player game, I honestly compete against no one but myself & game timer, of course. I find incentive in other players good words & find it motivates me, not to challenge them, but to do better myself, for myself.
However, seeing some of the words used can be extremely frustrating because I have difficulty accepting them as valid words, truly ‘Boggles’ my mind! ;) Even so, it’s Pogo’s game, they accept them.
BTW, I have no idea what a bot would perform or look like, so wouldn’t know if I have ever come across any. IF I have, didn’t hurt me at all.

misskittykat78 replied 12 years ago

Well I will admit I also use the “helper” website because I am not a big fan of this game – it makes my head hurt lol. So when I saw the url on BH I jumped at the chance…plus I type really fast and I figured that is a skill :) I do go into game rooms by myself if I want to type every single word..it is like a challenge for me to type all of the words before the time is up. I feel it is respecting the other players that way and not giving myself any grief.
