Yes Ed I am….but I guess it’s coz of a bunch of things all happening at the same time: badge day, coupon offers on badges, 50% off (or so they SAY…lol) on Expressions….EXTREMELY BUSY DAY, VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC, hence SLOW SERVERS I guess. I have the same VERIZON FIOS you do, so I know EXACTLY how it’s affecting you. Hopefully it will improve by tonite/tomorrow.

It is subjective I know, but, Pogo in general is slow and seems to be getting slower. The UK side even more so. Several things contribute to it I guess. I checked my machine for malware and found none but would recommend that all check.

Thanks Mem, was really a surprise how slow it was but what you say makes perfect sense :-)

Yes, I have noticed serious lag in pages loading today as well. Several times I wondered if my DSL had went out temporarily as my desktop is set up on a wireless signal and it will sometimes still register as being connected for a minute or two before it realizes that the modem in the family room is actually blinking red instead of green. However it seemed to just be a Pogo problem today.

Regarding the answer from tmooner_ (which didn’t appear before I typed my previous answer, sorry) I don’t find Pogo to be slow in general at all. Only on occasion when they are having issues do I experience lag or pages slow to load. Otherwise they pop right up for me. I have been a computer tech for many years and see people over loading their computers all the time with TSR’s or programs that are simply resource hogs. Also many new computers come loaded with what is commonly referred to as “bloatware” which can be easily removed by the way.

Ensuring your temporary files are dumped regularly, running weekly scans with programs such as Malwarebytes, AdAware, and Spybot Search and Destroy as well as making sure you have Windows update set to automatically download and install updates and having an Internet Security Suite (just an anti-virus program alone is simply not enough in this day and age in my opinion), making sure you are not trying to continue to use a computer you purchased in 2005 and expect it to keep up with the demands of today’s program requirements, etc. can all have a lot to do with your computers performance.

Also make sure you set Windows update to search for updates for other programs and drivers on your system besides just the Windows OS. This can also help more than most people realize. Computers out date themselves so quickly due to quickly evolving technology that you really need to either update your hardware or purchase a new computer every few years if you want to truly keep up.

Pogo is definitely having issues tonight. I’m getting reports of slowness, timeouts, problems purchasing gems etc. Badge Central seems to be the most screwed up at the moment.

Yes, it’s very slow. I ended up doing the BIngo Luau badge on Facebook because the Club Pogo site was slower than molasses. I am beginning to dread Wednesdays in the world of Pogo. I like doing my badges, but having the inability to connect to the site is quite frustrating.

While I agree with all the techie-type advice – cleaning computers, keeping them updated & protected, etc., IMO Pogo has been getting slower for months now. Not all the time, but enough to be a pain. The biggest example would be the Home Page for me – takes forever for the banner to completely load. I change browsers, and it is better, for a time. But it is never the same browser that can “fix” it on a certain day, at least in my experience.

I have been using Opera with pretty good results…….until today. Today, finally, the only browser I could really get anywhere with was good ol’ badmouthed IE. lol

Today was definitely out of the ordinary for me. It has been a long time since I could not get into Pogo at all. Sure, it is Wednesday. But every week has a Wednesday and while games may load a *little* slower, I haven’t experienced anything like today.

I could not get Makeover Madness to load at all, despite trying 3 different browsers, until I rebooted the computer. Before that, Pucks Peak played slow and herky-jerky; I played for the badge last week with no problems whatsoever. People have complained about the slowness of the new Daily Hot Shots but I had to give up trying to vote this afternoon – it was literally half a minute at times to get two new pictures up. Even once I got into Makeover Madness, I could tell the game was getting slower as I went along.

Sure, we need to periodically clean our computers, but should it be in the middle of a game that started out fine? lol You shouldn’t have to exit a game simply because playing it for 30 minutes causes it to start to run slow. I can’t help but wonder what the game may be doing to my computer to cause that.

Sheljin – I used to have a horrible problem with Thousand Island Solitaire on my last computer (just purchased a new computer this past August). The game would play just fine and then out of nowhere it would start getting all jerky. Sometimes I could hardly stand to finish the hand I was playing so I could exit out and reload the game again. Sometimes when I reloaded it, it immediately played that way so I would have to reboot. It was a constant problem. There were a couple of other games that I had issues with like that as well. Jungle Gin is another example.

Even on this brand spanking new computer with all the bells and whistles I cannot play multiple match games because at some point the game will appear to freeze. However, if I minimize the table window to my task bar and then bring it back up again, “poof” the next move that didn’t show before, magically is there. I’ve actually finished a game like that. Blindly!! Click on a card and drag it to the discard pile (although the card does not move, in fact nothing is moving on the screen) minimize the table window to my task bar, count to three, maximize the window again, and not only did my discard register, but the computer has now made it’s play and it’s time for me to either draw from the discard pile or from the draw pile which I then do blindly as well, minimize the window, maximize it again and then get to see what card I got. LOL

Doesn’t matter what browser I am using either. However I have not experienced the Thousand Island Solitaire jerky frustration since I’ve had this new computer. I think some problems we have with games have to do with our computers configuration or browser conflicts (driver conflicts, etc.) and others are strictly glitches on Pogo’s end with the games that conflict with some commonly used drivers\programs, etc.

I would have to venture and say that if during beta testing if they had these issues the game would not have been released. However updates to the games after release is probably the culprit. There are a lot of games I had no problems with at first and then later on started having issues with that carried from one computer to the next. With 3 different computers in our house I am able to test and see if it is my computer or Pogo when I find an issue.

I played Jungle Gin for years when Club Pogo first came out with zero problems and now since they added ranks and badges to the game I can no longer play multi-match games. Go figure.
