I am so very happy to say, I live in Havana, Florida now. I traded my home in Omaha, Nebraska for a warmer and much more livable life close to my family! I love the weather here, I miss the Omaha people but the winters were brutal there were just brutal to my aging body, too. My family is very happy to have me back on the East Coast, and I am happy to be be here. Havana has been a great place to transition to, the people have been very accepting, kind and extremely helpful!

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio area. Met my husband in college and now are married over 50 years. He now has a muscle disease and because he was having trouble taking the 3 stairs to go in and out of the house, we decided to move and decided to make a move to sunny Florida. Our youngest son lives in St. Petes and is a real estate agent. So we would find houses we liked and have him make appointments to view the houses via FaceTIme until we finally found one we liked. We bought the house in April and came down in June to finally get to see it and after couple weeks, we went back to Cleveland to get the stuff we wanted to bring and decide what to do with the house and return to Florida in late July. Well, in early July my hubby found out he needed surgery for a cancerous bump on his head and then before he fully recovered, he fell in the house. Took him til Nov to heal enough to do the drive and we just packed up the van and locked the house and left Cleveland before winter set in. We will return to Cleveland in June to settle affairs there and return. Right now we are all loving every minute of every day. Our middle child has Down Syndrome and lives with us. He has adjusted to the move excellently and not once has he asked to ‘go home’. He and I take daily walks and just truly feel blessed to be here.

Live in NW Pennsylvania in a very small town of 1,000, I too live in the house I was raised in but have not lived in itall my life. Left home at 17 to work for the US Government in Washington DC (State Dept), then lived in Beckley and Morgantown WV before returning to Pa. My hubby and I bought our own home and lived in it until my Dad passed and then we moved back to my childhood home. Now in the process of deciding what to do after my hubby passed in June, it’s hard to live alone especially when I’m not very mobile and don’t get out.

The navy landed me in the Great NW, near Seattle. I got out in 97, and have had plans to move away from here ever since, but life gets in the way. Love the beauty and weather of the NW, just don’t love the cost of living and the political climate up here.

I remember taking a train across Canada one summer in my youth, and it was snowing in July in Edmonton so I didn’t get a chance to see what it was like! I don’t know if that’s near Calgary, but probably cold too.
But I will say that Jasper stays in my memory as the most beautiful place on earth. So pristine and quiet.

I currently live in sunny FL! (Space Coast area) Grew up in the mid-west (KS). First time I took my S/O with me there while getting ready for an auction of all the things I couldn’t move to FL after my parents had passed away, we flew into Tulsa. It was 80 some degrees at 8 something in the evening. Next morning it was COLD (like in the 40’s). Day of auction (couple days later) we woke up to snow on the ground! Mind you, this is in May! He was not happy, but then I wasn’t either!
So saying of “if you don’t like the weather, it’ll change soon” applies there too!
Have been here in FL for over 30 years. Think I’ll stay!

I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I was born in Cornwall, UK, sailed here back in 1976 on a 66′ steel ketch, took a year to do so. I soon moved to USA permanently, married another mariner & we ran private yachts (mostly motor) for over 30 years & traveled extensively, both by boat & in our 1986 VW camper which we had for over 30 years until letting her go last year to other adventurers! Now retired hubby & I remain mostly in Florida, with the occasional trip to New England to visit family there.

I was born in Buffalo NY, when I was 11 we moved to Grand Island NY (not Nebraska) it is an Island in the middle of the Niagara River.10 min from Buffalo, Niagara Falls & the Canadian border. Went to college in Ft Collins Colorado married & Then moved to Providence RI. Love all the seafood shacks & restaurants, lobster yum yum. From there we went to Sea Bright NJ Had a tidal river behind house & ocean across the street. After divorce moved back to Grand Island in family home. Finally we can cross the border into Can. Love Toronto, so much to see & do especially all the bookstores on Queen St. Also when I travel overseas it is cheaper to fly out of Can. especially to London Eng. My Very Favorite City. Been to Great Britain 5 times. Wish my health permitted me to go again..
Yes we get snow but not as much as Syracuse & Watertown but only the Blizzard of 1977 is what people remember & now ’22 but a lot of the East coast got hit just as bad. At least we don’t have hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding & mud slides..

Grew up on a farm in Canada. Again, so cold and so much snow, one winter it covered the telephone poles (may have just been the blizzard of ’77). Moved to Los Angeles as a teenager where I went to college and married hubby. We moved to the South for his job and haven’t budged since, because it was a great place to raise a family.
I love Toronto, my favorite city. When I visited last time about a decade ago, I was blown away by how clean it was compared to the U.S. I hate California, so there’s no going back ever. They have a graffiti and a homeless problem. Even the suburbs have permanent RVs parked on the streets and tents on the sidewalks. It’s insane.
I loved the South when we first moved here, but it has grown too fast. Now the quaint little town I live in has apartments and townhomes everywhere and the cost of living (and property taxes) has skyrocketed. The only thing that hasn’t grown are the roads, which are practically the same narrow, curvy, two-way lanes, despite all the taxes they are now surely collecting. Trash everywhere now, next to country roads, including mattresses, graffiti is starting to pop up, and suddenly there’s tons of traffic, even on Sundays–especially on Sundays–and I see a deer or two a week smashed lifeless, laying at the side of the road. Once I saw a mother deer and her baby laying side by side next to the freeway. So very sad. Needless to say, I come across roadkill every day now: deer, possums, raccoons, squirrels.
The woodland habitat of the deer are slowly being destroyed and that is why so many animals are now dying. What made my county a draw, all the beautiful forests and trees, that are so beautiful in the fall, and nature, are inexorably being mowed down and clearcut to make room for the ugly boxes they are calling new homes. They used to fine developers for chopping down even a single tree when we first moved here, so they took pains to build houses without cutting down too many trees. Slow, sustainable growth. Well, now there are no gatekeepers of nature here anymore, and it’s a free-for-all. The politicians sold out.
Sorry for the long rant! Once my youngest son graduates, though, the world is our oyster. Who knows where we’ll end up!
