Do you buy badges as soon as they come out, or do you wait for a sale?
The weekend open thread is a regular feature at BadgeHungry. Every weekend, we answer the discussion question above, and chat about anything game-related. It’s a great place to test the waters of commenting and introduce yourself, ask for help with a game or challenge, or talk about your games and make friends.
See you in the comments!

Most of the time I will wait for a sale… unless iT IS CHEAP enough and I really want it
Sue says
Depends on if I really like the badge or not .

I seldom buy individual badges as I find they require to many gems for a badge. The exceptions are the collection packages that they run as I find they are a good buy and have badges from games that I play. Also will buy badges from the diamond mix and match badges for games I play and like, as they are a good buy for 20 gems and you receive 600 pogis from them. When they have a sale, I will go through and pick badges from games that I play.
The majority of my badges have come from the collections, or when there is a sale.

I rarely buy badges, they’re not really in my budget… Being a widow sucks, I have no “disposable” income any longer, plus I miss my sweet Bill so much… Our 12 years together wasn’t nearly enough time… We were high school sweethearts who reunited 32 years after last seeing each other at our 5-year class reunion…

So sory for your loss.

Darlin, I’m so sorry about you losing your husband. I was widowed once years ago, I know it’s no fun. Several years later I remarried. Maybe you will find someone to spend the rest of your life with one of these days. One never knows, I never thought I’d remarry either but I did. Have a nice weekend. 🙂

I don’t buy often. Only games that I like when on Sale.

I usually buy diamond badges as they become available as I find they have the most pogis for the gems but I also look at badges that are on sale and if I like the game and/or like the requirements for doing the badge, I’ll buy them too. Lately, I like buying the small packages like the cryptic ones in mahjong safari. I like the game and find the badges are a good value. Have a great weekend all.

The Diamond badges are my new weakness: 600 pogis and cool choices.

I buy them when they come out.

I typically buy badges for games that I enjoy playing and will look through the diamond badges and often pick up a few. Even though I don’t have to activate and play them right away, I’ve been too busy to even look too much. Things should settle down and I may start playing more and looking for more badges.

I buy badges when I want to play a game or have to play a game I check for additional badges to work for, a game I enjoy. There are several games I don’t play.
giraffe825 says
I have only bought badges at 12 gems or less.

I used to buy all of the collections, most of the games I liked, and most of the Diamond 20 gem badges if I wanted the game. My budget is getting smaller, and everything else is getting higher, so I have cut back on my purchases. It is sad. I hope the stock market improves again soon, that the bear market does not last very long, and we get someone who cares about America in 2024. My best friend died on March 8, 2021. We were best friends all through elementary school and had just reconnected in 2019, and then not as much contact as expected for 2020. Then she was gone and too young. She was still a pistol at 63. We laughed so much and had a lot of fun, especially in 2019.
Now, I have more time to play on Pogo and less money with this economy.
I used to buy the most significant packages of gems (they are expensive) as I am retired and on a fixed income, but Pogo can be a fun way to pass the time.
I have learned that there is more to life than Pogo 🙂
On June 3, my very first grand grandchild was born.
My great-grandson.
I have more time to cook and clean the house, too.

I used to buy every single badge as soon as it came out. Then I decided I was tired of playing games I hated and started buying just what I liked. Now, since Pogis started, I buy all the Diamond Badges that I can stand to play for the 600 Pogis. If a collection I like comes out, I’ll buy those. Then the regular badges, I pick and choose what I want to play, what I can play, and leave the ones I can’t stand to play!

I buy them as they come out.

I buy them all.

I have never bought every single badge that came out. I just won’t buy them if they are for games that I dislike. I mainly buy collections but if there is one in there that I definitely don’t play then I skip it. Not to say I haven’t bought collections that I regret otherwise I wouldn’t haven’t so many QA ones that I won’t do…..lol I do buy platinum badges for games that I like to play.

I buy a lot of badges as that’s why I’m on pogo since I chat very little as it’s all swearing, back stabbing, name calling & way too much politics talk in it. EA doesn’t put out badges in many games I play since only play about 15 of their games but with the ones I but I do get the free gems at the end but the amount is so measley I don’t really care if I do or if I complete the constellation.
GreenT says
I buy last minute, right before they expire, or if I missed them, when they come back in a sale. I have enough already anyway to fill up the Pogis quota each time to complete the Constellations (although it’s right down to the wire each time). I never buy gems unless they are on sale. I play on my daughters account as well. I don’t buy her any badges but just gift myself the extra badges with gems I’ve won there. It’s hard to get ahead on my account in ranks and such, but until her year’s subscription to Club Pogo ends, it’s hard not to resist vying for the free Pogis on her account. I imagine they will probably close this “loophole” in the future. But until then, I’m extremely busy!
Verobunzer says
If they had sales on gems, I would buy more. I only purchase once a year, grudgingly. Always trying to hold out for the gem sale that never comes. At any rate, I purchase almost all diamond/platinum badges that don’t have ridiculous requirements (for instance, win 18 games with Rainy Day Solitaire on HARD?!?!) I am lucky to win 1 game on hard in 2 weeks! I purchase a lot of collections and badges that are on sale. I never buy individual badges for 200 pogis.
Off topic, are they still having an issue with the new city in Monopoly Sudoku? I am only $5 million away from the $1.5 billion requirement at this moment. I still have 17 more games to complete for the 2nd week of the corn maze.

You may have noticed that there are two different daily challenges in Trizzle today. A bit of good news: Both of these can be activated at the same time.

I don’t buy every single badge/bundle and I wait for sales, retirement, re-releases etc.
