I have played level 663 three times now, and it sure seems to me you can ONLY win this level by spending 5 gems to get extra moves! You will always need one more butterfly at the end of 25 moves, since it only gives out one per move and you do not start with any on the board.
Has anyone else won this level without spending 5 gems?
Ridiculous!

Hi guru – I won the level with 3 stars. I have tons of coins and power-ups in my stash though, so that helps.
-I went in, found which color gem I had the most of and set up a hypercube/star combo so that all the gems I had the most color of were stars. I blew that up by exchanging two stars gems, and almost the whole board was turned to gold
– I then concentrated on the butterflies. Do not have any power gems in the bottom row or a butterfly will not appear in that space. Watch the two sides carefully because they are short sides and if a butterfly flies off the game ends. I was able to clear the number of butterflies easily enough.
Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply, I guess I will try it again, if you got it without extra moves I should be able to also….

I will only spend gems for extra moves on my main account when it simply will not propagate enough butterflies. Otherwise, here is another game ruined for many.
FADEDWILDROSE says
All the hints I know for butterflies: as RyzandShyn said do not allow a power gem to be in the bottom row – if one forms accidently, I immediately use the detonator to get rid of it without a move. If there is a group of butterflies not easy to match, I swap in a flame gem and detonate it. Lots of widely scattered butterflies can be removed with side-by-side hypercubes or star/hypercube + detonator. An isolated butterfly can be removed using either a swap tile to move in a match or by the hammer (I’d rather smack with a hammer than use the flutter-gust power-up). Not sure, but it seems to me a match away from the bottom row is more likely to allow a butterfly in than a match in the bottom row.
FADEDWILDROSE says
Oh, and one more — near the end when enough butterflies showing to finish, I’ll use the horseshoe to get them all with one move.

Hi and Help please! OK, I did get through Level 663 without having to buy the extra moves. Now 673 is pretty much the same way. 3 butterflies left to take off, 2 on the board, 1 move left. I can’t get my head around it!
Kid says
In 663, it seems like butterflies only spawn 1 at a time and are allows behind the number of moves you have left. If I have 18 moves left, I need 19 butterflies and so on. I’ll try the tip about not allowing a special gem in the bottom row.
Kid says
At the very beginning of the level, you can add 1 move for 1 gem (on sale). For 1 gem, I knew I could complete the level which I did. Makes me wonder of those who solved it “without gems” forgot they selected the extra move at the beginning. At no time in this level do you have enough moves to overcome the slow spawning of butterflies. I also found that it doesn’t matter if you have a powered gem in the bottom row. As long as there is one open position, a butterfly will spawn.

LEVEL #663:
I am also encountering those same problems, namely the butterflies coming up short.
I love this game, have plenty of power-ups and have tried a variety of ways
to try to get enough butterflies (25) to meet the requirements of the challenge.
I have never used “extra moves” while playing any of the Levels, Challenges or Events.
I take it…this is a power-up we would have to purchase with gems,
as opposed to being able to earn gold coins for it’s acquisition.
I will be very disappointed if it turns out this method is the only way to win this Level.
If this turns out to be the case, it will be the downfall of this game for me,
because if it happens in one Level, it will surely happen in future Levels.♥

I generally play this game a lot so I won’t have to purchase power-ups using gems. Level 2 goes really fast and the points are easy to rack up.
That being said, this is the first time ever that I had to spend gems on extra moves because of the no butterflies going on. If this is something that’s going to happen every time there are butterflies in the game, I give up. Sad because I like the game. Simple because I don’t want to give up my gems to make a level. 🙂

I suspect that if enough members spend the gems to get thru this Island that it will become something that happens when there’s a new Island, or when it’s an in-game event. Only time will tell.

I can’t get it either. I tried following the directions. It seems like the last butterfly has to appear and be in a match to win.

I’m old n lazy as I play all badges on the lowest level I can to get them as I see all the complaints on the higher levels & at my age I don’t need the challenge or stress & if I can’t play a lower level such as in garden blast like 1 of this weeks badges I 4get it & move on, lol.

I’m with you JOE. Most of the time, I don’t even know what they are going on about. LOL I don’t really qualify as Badge Hungry. I’d say I’m more of a “nibbler” LOL. Whenever I hit a rough spot, I just remind myself, It’s only a game. There are much more important things in life. Thank you for posting and Have a Wonderful Day. TGIF

I got through the entire island with 3 stars on each level, did not have to purchase extra moves, and only had to play 663 twice because I didn’t see a butterfly escape the board off the left short side.
I play the game every day to challenge myself with the Daily Puzzle and to up my coin/power-up stash.
I’m smart, organized, and methodical, but I’m no game aficionado – I wish I knew what it was that I saw and did that other players are not seeing or doing. I’d be shouting it from the rooftop in order to help others. I used various combination of the power-ups Flame Swapper, Detonator, Star Swapper, Hyper Swapper, and maybe a Hammer or two. FadedWildRose posted many of the same techniques I use in her posts above.
I’ve even gone and played some of the levels again that people have had trouble with, and I won those easily again.
It could be that for once in my Pogo life I got lucky boards, but I ain’t that lucky.

Ryz, You are very visual and you learn by repetition. These skills are acquired in early childhood. You can’t really “teach” adults how to learn. Just continue to do what you do well.

Level 712 help bejewled stars please
JayDee says
What I did is use the Blazing Steed (horseshoe) powerup. Then I cicked on the middle bottom jewel and moved it to the right. This cleared the entire bottom of crystals and finished the game with 3 stars. No other power-ups were necessary for that particular level. I hope this works for you, too ~ good luck!
