Happy Weekend Everyone!
How did you find Pogo and how long have you been a member?
The weekend open thread is a regular feature at BadgeHungry. Every weekend, we answer the discussion question above, and chat about anything game-related. It’s a great place to test the waters of commenting and introduce yourself, ask for help with a game or challenge, or talk about your games and make friends.
See you in the comments!

I got my first computer in March of 2001. I have always loved to play cards and board games. I did a general search for game sites and Pogo came up. I played for several hours that 1st. day. My favorite game was the original Sweet Tooth. I have been a Pogo member since March of 2001 and a Club member since September 2003 {I think}.I have given a lot of thought to leaving because I do not care for the “NEW” Pogo or the direction that seems to be going. However, I have not been able to make a decision on that yet.

I remember when pogo used to give gifts. I NEVER won a mug or a toaster, but I got enough wallpaper I could have redone 16 outhouses! The old pogo has more enjoyable games and when the ads came on I used to say in chat I was put in time out. I also remember using the back door
method to get into a full room. I liked the set up of the old rooms more. You could chat and still
play the game. You were able to choose a room, see who was in, it was much easier to do. I don’t like or use the new chat set up.
Shy says
I started Club Pogo in 2005..My room-mate was [playing Pogo and I asked what is Pogo and hear I am…Thinking about leaving also. Don’t care for the new Pogo either..Bummer..

I was playing a game, Cool 21, on AOL. One day there was a notice that the game was sold to TEN (The Entertainment Network) and would be moving. TEN became Pogo. I joined Pogo in July 2001. I hesitated to join Club Pogo when it started in 2003, but did in September 2004.

I saw a game my son was playing, Tri-Peaks Solitaire, and it looked like fun. I signed up as a free member in 2004 and continued playing a bit until a friend sent me an invitation in 2007 and at that time I signed up as a Pogo Club member.and have been one once ever since.
SAT says
I became a member when my sister-in-law told me about a game she thought I would really like to play–it was poppit (the original) and then jumble bees (which later had a name change to tumble bees). It was so long ago I don’t remember when–late 1980’s or 1990’s.
It was way before club pogo. I joined Club Pogo when it first came out because it was well worth the fee not to have those annoying intermissions and ads.
QuietDi says
I initially found Pogo through Yahoo Games. Signed up for a free preview of Club Pogo in March 2008, but I did not join then. Although, my Pogo Profile states that I have been a Club Pogo Member since March 2008. I actually became a Club Pogo Member in July 2016. I found BadgeHungry by looking up the Pogo Profile of a prolific Pogo Forum poster, MomsBassetHound, aka Suz. Wishing all a safe and Happy 4th of July weekend.

I joined pogo in 2001 and club pogo a year or two later, primarily as you had to be club pogo to play pinochle and I LOVE pinochle and still play on a league! I accidentally found BH when looking for tips on games and have loved it ever since. It’s only been year or so that I’ve been a VIP member but am glad that I joined! As others, I don’t always agree with the direction pogo is going (and I was very mad when they did away with pinochle), but I enjoy playing games and enjoy having challenges. To me I enjoy playing a game when there is some type of goal involved and that’s what the challenges provide me. I’m often glad for the tips/suggestions by Lura or other BH members!!

I started playing on Pogo in 1999 on AOL. I played Poppit and was sure I was gonna win the jackpot. LOL It had ads that were so annoying so I decided to join when it became a club. Somebody told me about BH in chat and the rest is history!
Hope everybody has a great holiday weekend. Stay safe!
Cher 🙂

Hi, That’s exactly how I found pogo. I was playing on aol. Yes I still have an aol email since it was my first email address ever.
I played poppit and bejeweled the other one that was timed by moves I think.
BH I found by a general search for tips. There was another site that was similar to BH but not nearly as good or friendly.
Back when chat was a big part I always told other go to badge hungry and always had to reassure them it wasn’t a scam site.
Have a great weekend, everyone, enjoy and be safe. Happy 4th. 🎆🇺🇲🎇🇺🇲

My oldest daughter was a member of Pogo when I visited her home on Thanksgiving 2008, she showed me, and I played Pogo Bowl for the rest of the time I was there, and she said, “Pogo has stolen my Mom” Hahaha!! 😀 :D. When I flew back home to Omaha, I joined on December 5th, 2008, and have been a member since then. She’s still a Club Pogo Member also! 🙂
Have fun, everyone! 🙂

im clearly a newbie (2017ish) compared to everyone else here!
i simply did a search for ‘online monopoly’ and pogo came up. then i started playing texas hold ’em and got hooked! i miss both games.

My daughter played for a few years before me and I would play at her house when I was recovering from surgical procedures, When I bought my first computer in Dec 2008. I joined Pogo in Jan 2009 and club Pogo in Feb, 2009. I have been a member ever since. Took a breather from playing when Java games would not load and spent hours with Pogo support which did not help a bit. Once they stopped putting weekly challenges with Java games, I started playing non stop, Now I am retired, play more than I should, probably, I only have 6 playable challenges from 2019, I believe, to be caught up on all of them. I enjoy the events and challenge myself even on the games I did not like , nor ones I could not play well, There are still quite a few games I only do for challenges and dailies, but most I like. See everyone soon in Pogoland.

I found Pogo through AOL, and joined in 2004. I showed it to my mom. A few days later she gave me her member name and I found her so we could play together. But when I looked at her profile, I saw that she had been a member since 2003. How sneaky of her. lol. After that I gave her a membership every year for Mothers day. She played for the rest of her life.
I guess I will too.

I joined pogo in 1998. I searched for free game sites and I enjoyed pogo the best. I had made a lot of friends over the years, but unfortunately I lost a lot of them. I had the pleasure of meeting a few of them when my husband and I took a 3 week bus tour across the USA! It was marvelous. We saw so many beautiful sites in our wonderful country.
Getting to meet 3 of my pogo pals was a highlight for me. I keep in touch with 2 but my best friend of all time was lost to cancer. So pogo has given me thousands of hours of pleasure.
While I still enjoyed the OLD pogo more, change does happen and I learned to cope.
Badge Hungry was the next best thing I found online. I have learned a lot from the site and the people who are more than willing to answer questions and help with learning new games.

I remember a friend of mine told me about it. She gave me a name & password.. It was on aol. I remember poppit and blackjack(Stumpy). I moved back to NY. By the time I got a new pc, it became pogo. I couldn’t remember the password, so I made a new account. That was in 2004. I loved playing Fortune Bingo. Thats when I found out about badge hungry. I don’t chat much. Just found it easier for me. I do appreciate badgehungry though. Safe holiday to all.

Funny you should ask…I joined pogo back when we played in AOL. Yesterday I was cleaning out papers after many years and came across a conversation I had printed in the chat (saved it because that is when/where I met My Mr. Wonderful. )…it was from January 2000. Back then everyone chatted and some would go to private chat and say they were up in the tree house. Some friends from pogo came to Minnesota and we all got together and when I went to Arizona, we got together there as well. I don’t have any of my friends from back then but I meet new ones all the time. Pogo has been a great place to meet friends and for the most part play games.

I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill & Pogo.com I found on google looking for online games.
I’ve been a club Pogo member since 2009.
I think it was 6mo. or so after I was a free member that I signed up

I want to add that I also have been with BadgeHungry for a long time. I also am not sure how long but seems forever. I want to wish Lura and her gang success in the future too. Right now, I think BH may be a step above Pogo games. Hopefully, someday the 2 badgehungry sites can be combined as that would save a lot of looking too.

My sister told me about Pogo and I dabbled a bit in it playing backgammon, cribbage and pinochle a bit. Then I couldn’t play pinochle because it became a club pogo game. Eventually, I started playing on the site more, playing mostly crib and backgammon. I met someone who was a club member in cribbage, we became friends and she encouraged me to join. She gave me a 5 day pass which Pogo had at that time and off of that I did the free 2 week thing that Pogo had back then. Then I decided to join and have been a member ever since. That was in 2012.

My friends Jay and Joe told me about Pogo in 1998 when I was going through a divorce… Joe loved Ali Baba Slots and said I’d meet some nice people here… He was right, I’ve met a lot of wonderful people at Pogo…
I became a member of Club Pogo in December of 2000… With all of the changes though, I’m very seriously considering not renewing my membership… In general, I’m OK with change, but Pogo has gone over the edge with games that I won’t/don’t play and I find that I don’t play as often as I used to… But, $3.33 a month isn’t a bad price to pay for some games that I really enjoy, so I’ll most likely renew…

I became a member of regular Pogo in April of 2000, so it’s been 22 years! But, I don’t know how much longer I’ll be a member, because I went to the mini mall this morning and it’s ALL different!! I HATE it! All of my Snapshots are gone! There are categories, but you have to go through pages and pages and pages of items to find anything, and nothing is in alphabetical order, or any other order! They have Seasonal items, but they are not grouped together, such as Christmas items are not together, nor are Halloween items together,, or patriotic items, etc. It’s a huge mess!! I want my Snapshots back!! How can Pogo do this to us?? I’m very upset, as are my husband and daughter over this. I can’t sit at the computer for hours on end looking for particular items! What can we do about this? Pogo seems to be always making changes for the worst, not for the better!
Have a nice and safe 4th of July weekend all! Wuz

It’s not so much what they did to the mini items that are there. It’s that there are so MANY MISSING items.
Here’s what missing that I’m aware of, and working on with LittleCaterpilla and Pogo…
1) All of the Pogo on Facebook items, all 50 levels
https://www.badgehungry.com/pogo-facebook-mini-rewards/
2) All of the Game Awards from 22 regular games on the Pogo site
https://www.badgehungry.com/mini-awards/
3) All, or most, of the mini items from the 10 Downloadable games
4) All, or most of the Bundles
LittleCaterpilla was able to get the item numbers on almost all of the missing items before the last of our accounts got converted. I was just starting on the Bundles when my 2nd account got moved to the dark side.
I don’t know what, or if, they will do anything. But I’m trying. And LittleCaterpilla did most of the hard work on this project. Luckily Lura still had the pages of images for the Facebook awards and the 22 games on the Pogo site. That made that part easy 🙂
I had all the Facebook awards on both of my accounts. I had all the game awards from the 22 games on both of my accounts. I paid for the majority of the bundles on my main account, and had purchased a few for my 2nd account too.
I only owned 2 of the downloadable games, but I had the first set of mini awards on all of them. You could get them just by playing the 1 hour free trial back in the day. And I did that on both of accounts. I did it more for the badge, but earned the mini items too.
All Pogo kept saying was how much more we were getting, but actually we lost hundreds of items just from what I wrote above. I have no idea how much we really lost….we may never know

Happy Fourth of July!
I joined Pogo after my good friend sent me a pass when I retired in May 2005. So that has been 17 years. Time flies! My friend has passed now, and she would have not liked the New Pogo. I tolerate it because of friendships, and I do love several games.

It was probably in 2006 (I became a member in 2007) when we were enjoying a Thanksgiving dinner at my In-law’s house, that my Brother-in-law in challenged me to a game of Pogo Bowl. (He won of course!) Shortly after that, my Sister-in-law, bought me a 6 month membership in Pogo. Course, when those 6 months were up, I was hooked and became a member.
Sadly, my Brother-in-law passed away last year of Covid and every time I play Pogo Bowl I always remember how he enjoyed beating the socks off me in that very first game of Pogo Bowl.
Yes, Pogo has changed quite a bit these last two years but, I have adjusted and really don’t miss Old Pogo. From what I am seeing, the nice people at Pogo are listening to what we want and I believe in time, we will have a better game site. It’s just going to take time.
Have a good 4th everyone! 🧨

I found Pogo through my brother’s recommendation, I had been going through a death in the family as well as my own health issues. He said I have a solution, why not try Pogo to destress. I’ve been a Club Pogo member for 14 years now, I found Badge Hungry (don’t know how many years ago but it was before Lura gave birth to her son.) Badge Hungry has made a big difference in playing on Pogo thanks to all the great tips from the wonderful people who frequent this site,

Hi, I have been playing on Pogo since September 2002, a friend was playing when I visited her at work (yes, on the work computer!) and I tried it and was hooked,
Mainly I played cards, Euchre was a favourite, and graduated to many games and played DCR in a league.
So far to date I have 15,115 badges and my goal right now is to finish all the albums and badges I own before August 27th. 2022.
that day is my birthday, also the day that my Club Pogo will NOT be renewed, and the day we relocate back to Canada from Mexico where we have lived for almost 20 years!!
Figured one thing led to another – I will miss the Pogo games and badge hungry friendship, but will check in once in while and see who is still upset with the changes, but still here!
It has been fun, will see be around for the next couple of months
Have a great holiday weekend
