      • NO! It’s horrible! Please give us the option to play the old version. BTW, we can not rearrange our tiles on the rack.
        I’ll probably join the multitude of players cancelling our contracts.

        • I totally agree it is awful… i liked the old game and the way it played.
          I am glad I ranked out the old way!!!!!!!!!

        • Agreed, the new features are HORRIBLE! Plus it takes a very long time to get matched to play a game. This was not a good decision on Pogo’s part!! Go back to the way it was before… much more user friendly.

      • No I do not like the new format I like the old way. The board keeps moving It is hard to look for words in the little box I just do not like it.

  5. I don’t like the size of the board or the fact that it keeps moving and you can’t see the whole board. Less animation would be good. Don’t need to be told each play that I can swap a letter.

  6. I have played Scrabble on Pogo for years. I loved it…and now I hate it. The letters are difficult to place, the board is difficult on the eyes because of the color and choices are limited as to how you want the game to play. I am sorry; but I truly hate the revised Scrabble game. I cannot even begin to express how much I hate it now. Sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone.

    • I totally agree!! I loved to play scrabble on Pogo and now I absolutely hate it. Yes the tiles are hard to place the board squares are too small and I am missing the dictionary and two word helps. I dont know if they are somewhere I don’t see. I really wish they hadn’t done anything to this game it was working just fine for me at least. Now I won’t play it.

  7. OMG this is the worst update in my 18 years of Pogo! From the graphics to the game play, and the “beginner” bot that played: eringo, gyri, voe, and other words a BEGINNER bot should not be playing, I absolutely hate it. They have absolutely ruined the game.

  8. I’ve played a few games. I started out with playing bots, and just the basic game/levels. Seems to me that you can’t win against them. No matter how good of a word you put down, they have a better one. Also, the board layout is very small (much smaller than before), and unless you use the option where you click and type, the tiles seem to go where they want instead of where you want. Will probably play for challenges, but not much else. I also have not found a way to get rid of the hint that keeps telling about the blank tile. I mean every time you get one, it comes on. Maybe someone can clue me in as to how to get rid of it. Not sure why they thought they had to update it. It’s not been that long ago it was converted, so I don’t see the need for “improvements” already. But that’s just me.

    • I agree with everything you said, especially the letters going where they want to go. The letters were very difficult to place, and that may be due to the smaller grid size. The letters are larger than squares. I only played one game, but I haven’t seen a place where I can see my score or the Bot’s score.

      It’s a good thing I played the game before it and buying the new Badges! I just saved myself money. My gain, Pogo’s loss.

  9. The NEW scrabble is horrible!! Was USED to and accepted the other format for what it was and now THIS!!I Pogo going to chase more off–PLEASE put the scrabble back like it was!!It was the only thing keeping me here–now its gone too!!!

  10. Pogo screwed up with this new edition of Scrabble. This my mom’s favorite game: she won’t play it any more because of A. The size of the board is harder for her to see. B. The graphics changes did not improve the game. She is going to cancel her membership if Pogo does not give option to play the older version.

  12. Pogo messed this one up! I hate the change made to Scrabble!!! Scrabble was one of my “just have to play” daily games and I was just about to hit Rank 30. Guess if this change remains, I won’t be hitting that rank or any higher ranks!!! Please undo this and bring back what I was playing!!!

  13. This “upgrade” is as awful as the pin action on the new PogoBowl. Another game needlessly ruined. I swear they’re trolling us. T

    • Yes pogo bowl is awful also. hate how long you need to wait to play the next frame. new is not always better as we have found out in the past. scrabble is just awful.

  15. Pogo’s “improvements” to Scrabble are absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Before Pogo rolls out improvements to games, do they even have a “test” run for a few select members to play so Pogo can get feedback on these “improvements?”

    Scrabble is one of my favorite games to play now I’m not even sure I’ll play it for a challenge. I can’t begin to come up with words to describe just how terrible this “new and improved” version of Scrabble is.

    Pogo needs to read our comments. Lot of members are saying the “improvements” to Scrabble are the last straw and that they will not renew their membership.

    Old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke; don’t fix it.” There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the version of Scrabble we had. Please, GIVE US OUR “OLD” VERSION OF SCRABBLE!

    • Pogo used to have beta testing years ago (I know because I was fortunate to get selected to be a beta tester after volunteering) but I don’t know if they still have them. I would love to do it again. TIP: If you are lucky enough to get picked do NOT discuss the games you are beta testing with anyone, especially in Pogo chat. I hinted at a new game to a player friend and next thing I knew my beta testing ended. They did tell me not to so it was my fault.

  20. ok so i’m a newbie, i’ve only been on pogo for a couple of years and i never played the old version of scrabble. so it’s not like i’m coming into this with any prejudice.

    but this game really stinks. there are a myriad of reasons, but mainly it’s because i can’t click in the right spot to place a letter.

    i can’t believe this got past quality control. i can’t believe a group of people played this and said ‘yes, this is perfect!’.

      There is no quality control, and nobody played it before it was released. That’s how the new Pogo works.

      • Hey Suz! Pogo has beta testers, just not what we conceive as testers. They bring out their half-azzed game, then they let the players that love scrabble and play daily tell them what is wrong with the game. 🙁 They even create a forum thread so they get feedback. The entire Pogo community have become beta testers!
        It doesn’t seem like we are going to get a replacement for Llama. So our feedback will have to go to the forums. 🙁

        • Agreed! We are the official Beta Testers. It is unfortunate that it takes Pogo forever, if ever, to make adjustments.

          I am in the big pool with all of you – not a big fan of SCRABBLE in the first place, but this version really takes the 6-day-old-jaw-breaking cake. Awful, awful. For all the reasons so eloquently given by my pool-mates in this thread.

  22. And Pogo also added another ten rank badges – which don’t show up in the stats of the game, but do show up when you search game award badges for Scrabble.

  23. It is horrible! I finished a badge on Sunday. So I could NOT believe my eyes when I saw what they had done it the game today. Big tiles and tiny board to use. I am so very sad they even touched this.

  25. I’ve been playing Pogo Scrabble for a year or so online. When this new update started to load, I honestly thought they were loading a 90s web version, for whatever reason. The graphics are quite bad. The gameboard is very difficult to see at my age. Was this designed by a 20 something with excellent eyesight? Likely. Did 20 soemthing forget to consider that it’s the 55+ crowd with lousy vision that really loves scrabble? Likely.

    there was nothing wrong with the old version, other than the illogical nag screens– like the one that tells you how blanks work, even if you have just used a blank.

    • not fun new version of scrabble…I guess we can complain all we want to no avail. Why does pogo always have to change what the majority of players enjoy and pay for. I hope someone comes up with a new game site with classic pogo!

  27. Scrabble is the worst update so far. I have always ranked out in Scrabble but now I don’t even care to play the game. The graphics are no great improvement. The board is too small. Moving the tiles is impossible and not being able to rearrange your tiles is awful. Why does the new Pogo have to destroy all that made Pogo great?

  28. Well, obviously I am FAR from the only person who has huge issues with their updated Scrabble.
    I play at least one game every morning. It was one of my favorite go-to games…until now.
    I am Rank 69 and was really hoping they would be adding more so that there would eventually be
    more than 70, even though I would have still played just for the enjoyment of it.

    Now I will grit my teeth to finish and accomplish Rank 70.
    How terribly sad! Amazingly sad!!!
    I am getting less and less through all of their upgrading, aka improvements.
    EA, Pogo, their younger people-in-the-know really, seriously need to stop and realize that not everything should be changed, especially a perfectly fine “old” standby.
    How do I hate this?…..I can’t count the ways!!!!!

  31. I can tolerate the new scrabble because I figured out how to double browse with the table set to allow any combination of letters to be played as a word. That is the only way I do badges in there. Rank 170!!! you’ve got to be kidding! — very low on my list of games to rank out in.

  32. I also hate this ne version of scrabble, it is no longer fun. Why does pogo always mess up a good thing? Paying customers should have what makes the game fun…BIG MISTAKE!!

    • Pogo is NOT the one that made these changes, Hasbro did. Pogo/EA has a contract with Hasbro to use the game, but ONLY Hasbro can change the way the game is displayed.

      • Oh, I am so glad you clarified this. Here I was hating and blaming Pogo for the disaster. I take back everything I said and ‘thought’ about Pogo. Now, I hate Hasbro. lol Seriously, I am glad you posted this information. LoriV

      • While Hasbro licenses the game, I think Pogo can alter its appearance within contract guidelines. If you search the web for Hasbro Scrabble, you will find may different looking boards.

        • No, if you have a contract with Hasbro to put a game on your site it is what they design. You may be able to add your own logo, but no major changes, especially when you are offering NSA games.

          • If as you say, all those board designs out there are Hasbro’s without end user alteration, the question then becomes why, out of the tons available, Pogo chose one to drive customers away. Perennial Pogo question WHY!

      • Not really sure where to add this comment in, but I did look at all the other “on-line” scrabble games I could locate. Every one of them has some sort of variation of the new board and colors. The only place I could find the regular board was searching on vintage scrabble board games. I don’t care for the colors and look either. Imuch prefer the old board, but I have to agree with Suz that it’s a result of what Hasbro has done and not something that was driven by Pogo.

  33. Well, I just gained about an hour a day. Will NOT be playing Scrabble again. It’s awful! Sad, I’ll really miss it!

  34. Don’t like this new version at all. Can I still play against real people? So far, all I get is bots.

  35. I just completed a Scrabble badge and it’s not as bad as everyone is saying. The only thing I had a problem with at first was placing my tiles.

    But there is a really easy fix for placing your tiles. When you first enter the game, on the screen where you choose Single Player or Multiplayer, there is a gear in the lower right hand corner. Click on the gear and you get a pop up where you can change your Game Controls. Just change from Drag and Drop to Click Target.

    You just click on the tile you want to use, and then you click on the space where you want it. It’s as simple as that.

    • I agree, Suz.
      I checked out the gear icon & then played a few games before buying and completing the M+M to find 300 words.
      Even though I don’t care for the “professor” reminder, it is helpful because locating the blank to retrieve is pretty difficult to see.
      I also found that when you just click on, but don’t place, a tile on the rack you will see your score at the bottom of the word you’re forming.
      I hope others will give this updated version a chance so they can find out it’s not at all as bad as it seemed at first.

    • I agree, Scrabble is not as bad as I originally thought. I’m in the middle of a Scrabble challenge right now and I’m getting used to it. In the old Scrabble I would always put the timer on 10 minutes in case I was interrupted.

      Thanks to a Pogo forum member I learned how to do that by clicking on Multiplayer, clicking on Custom, Host a Game (or Host a Game then Custom) then Advanced. I can put the timer on for 10 minutes which makes me happy.

      My letters are staying where I place them using the Drag and Drop to Click Target.

      Basically it’s all about learning how to use the controls in the settings.

  36. Absolutely horrible!! I have given this new update several tries and it is terrible and I’m now looking for other options!

  37. Will not play anymore, so sad–will very much miss it! Complaints in order of annoyance: does not reliably show keystrokes (board freezes on my end, while time runs out), can”t arrange tiles on rack, finding other players very slow, miss the chat feature even though I rarely used it, blank impossible to see, timer difficult to see.

  38. Agree–the new version is horrible! Why mess with something that worked so well? Not user friendly at all.
