The weekend open thread is a regular feature at BadgeHungry. Every weekend, we answer the discussion question above, and chat about anything game-related.   1. One of the only games that I get excited about seeing a badge or challenge for is Poppit! Bingo.
    That would be closely followed by Bejeweled Stars, but since you asked for one, I’ll stick with Poppit! Bingo. 🙂

  3. My favorite game has not changed since I first played it way way way back. TriPeaks, and I still play almost every day.

  5. Spades is my favorite game. I enjoy playing with the bots. Another subject … I was surprised there were no Platinum Mix challenges yesterday. Are they forever gone for the 15th of each month?

  6. My favorite is still Quinn’s. I also like HOG’s (the 2 Claire Harts).

    Do to the changes Pogo has recently made I probably won’t be buying as much badges and I’m losing interest in the constellations. I hope those changes are temporary.

  7. I am still on a high from last weeks Open Weekend Thread. lol

    My favourite game on Pogo is Spades. I always have to play a few games every day. It’s one of the few games I can play without having any badges to do.

    A close 2nd is Poppit Bingo.

  9. There are a number of games I like but my upmost favorite would be Solitaire Blitz.

    • Me, too, but apparently Pogo doesn’t. First they limited the amount of coins you could have, which meant that anyone who had 25,000 coins and finished all the costumes couldn’t even complete the dailies. Then they practically stopped giving us free challenges in it. If they gave us one quarter as many as they do in Quinn’s (which also gets new puzzles all the time) I’d be happy.

      • I have to agree with Judy. I used to play Poppit Party everyday, but it has been hmm well over a year (maybe even two?) since they added costumes to the game. it is still my favorite game however since I have (almost) maxed out on costumes I seldom play it and hold it for badges.

        Since that is not available per se.. it would be a tie for second and third between Poppit Bingo and Mahjong Sanctuary.

        • I’m glad you posted Sister Deb – you gave me a good idea! I started playing Poppit Party on the regular between constellations to get my costumes up, and then just added it to my Daily Chores list. I’ve been playing it for over a year now and am getting closer to having all the costumes to 10 (well kind of), but I think that finding a stopping point and holding it as you do is the way to go. Thanks!

  15. Definitely for me Tripeaks and Pogo Slots are the top two, coming in third is Mahjong Sanctuary, of which I am doing dailies until the new animal comes out.

    • Mahjong Garden was my fav years ago…now its Mahjong Sanctuary….hurry up Pogo with some more games to play😊

  17. I’ve always found regular Poppit to be the most “relaxing”. I can play it and think of other things and before I know it, hours have passed…almost like when I get trapped on Facebook. LOL

  18. Tri Peaks is my favorite!! First game that I ranked out! Also like Poppit Bingo and Quinns!

  19. I have my favorites but recently started replaying Word Whomp. Always loved the game so fun to play it again and as a bonus it’s not just clicking. Lol, needs more ranks. Maybe just being nostalgic with the not much fun new word games.

  21. I love Bejeweled Stars but I finished all the levels and have all of the in game badges. I really don’t see the need to try for 3 stars on all levels; unless I’m missing something. Now I’ve been playing Spades. I find it very relaxing and fun.

    • My first game I ever played and got friends from was World Class Solitaire the Above the Clouds room. Most of those friends are gone from Pogo now.

  24. My favorite game is Bejeweled Stars and Poppit Bingo but I missed High Skate Pool and Dominoes 🙁

    • Aaah, a fellow Snowbird Solitaire lover, we are in the minority Ann, I too love playing this game but I can only play late at night because the bouncing beach ball, the wave and the sand cards make me sleepy. It seems the more challenging the game, the quicker I fall asleep 🙂

  26. Hello I would have to say that my favourite game right now would be BOOKWORM [HD}. Please throw in SPADES [HD]. The basic games plays the same but I LOVE HOW THEY JAZZED UP THE DOGS.

    • No, you aren’t the only one who likes Peggle Blast. I’ll make that two of us. LOL

      • Me three! I do the Daily Board every day and look forward to it.
        I haven’t played much to progress because I heard that the further you are in the game, the more difficult those Daily Board tasks get. I’m at Level 55 or so…Kablooey.

  29. You’ll find me in a Canasta room every day. Mahjong Sanctuary as well. They have brought back some of my other favorites but still missing a few. But it is getting better.

  33. I will always love Tri-Peaks. It’s why I joined Club Pogo in 2003.
    However, I’d have to say that right now my favorite game to play is Mahjong Sanctuary.

    Does anyone remember the game Upwords on a site called games.com prior to 2003? I was addicted to that game, but they had to drop it due to Hasbro not renewing the license. That’s when I started playing Tri-Peaks on Pogo and found a new home. I do wish Pogo had better word games.

  34. DCR & Thousand Island Solitaire are my two favorites.

    I would love if they brought back Yahtzee party, pool, or any board type games like Monopoly, Life, etc….. probably won’t or can’t happen but a girl can wish!

    I am still waiting for this months platinum badges that is my excitement for the month!

  39. Double Deuce Poker.

    It’s very simple to play, no power-ups, a “game” takes a few seconds, and best of all, I can play it anywhere on my phone, even at the grocery store, or waiting for the microwave to buzz.

    That and Roulette are my favorite casino games. Wish they had more varieties of video poker on Pogo.

  40. Spades is my favorite. I play the bots and can get a new hand if I don’t have any spades or only one spade in my hand. I play it to relax. Also, I’m beginning to like Bejeweled Stars and Mahjong Sanctuary more than I did. I like Jungle Gin and Canasta, also. My good friend who taught me Canasta along with two other of our friends died recently at the age of 96. She had a lot of friends on Pogo and at her church. I miss her. I know she is in a better place and with her husband who died 7 years ago.

  41. I have a question: On Pogo Classic – and only on Pogo Classic as far as I can tell – is a new Pogo Construction – dated 16th April. It says:
    “We’ll do our best to ramp back up the regular in-depth cadences you’re used to, but we’re still ramping up to get these reports to you. We ask your continued patience in this time of transition while we keep building Pogon on a foundation for another 20+ more years of fun!”
    What on earth are “cadences”? Is this some American terminology that I am not familiar with? What are they trying to say?
    They are also talking about “Friends Relationships”! How is this any different to how the Friends List works currently? I do not understand at all.

    • Hi egg! It’s a word from the music world first and foremost, like the cadence of the drums that a marching band marches too while the other instruments are silent.
      A cadence can also be, by definition: “The definition of cadence is the rhythm, modulation and pitch of a sound or the rhythmic beat of movement. An example of cadence is a soothing tone of voice that a mother uses when reading stories to a small child. The measure or beat of movement, as in dancing or marching.”
      So, what Spike is saying is that we’re used to the construction and content of Llama’s blogs, and that a similar in-depth report hasn’t been formulated yet. It’s an odd word to use.
      And Yes, there’s something in the works for the “Friends Relationships” that Spike talked about in the link below, but it confused the heck out of me 🙂

        • You’re welcome.
          My loose impression, from the things Pogo Spike has posted, is that he is not permanently in the Community Manager position, and he is not going to adopt the “hand-holding” persona of a Llama, Brett or Tahd.

    • In my friends list there are ones who added me but I didn’t add them in return. What I gathered from the Construction Zone was that players who added me but I didn’t add them will be removed. I am thinking you have to be connection to each other to remain. I am personally fine with that because the players that added me are non members and could have added me by mistake. I don’t remember any of them.

      Here is more info I found. This is a copy and paste from a page about it.

      VERY IMPORTANT Confirm all your mutual friends in Classic Friends list over the next month.

      Over the next month, please ensure the Pogo friends you want to keep are all friends with you too. All existing friendships will be carried over to the new site, but only if you are both friends with each other. In cases where you friended someone and they did not friend you back, you can friend them back now or send out a request when the new features arrive. On the new Pogo, you’ll have to approve incoming friendship requests.

      Your My Friends list on Pogo Classic will be accessible to read after the migration next month, so if anyone was missed, you can add them back as friends in the new Friends Relationships 🙂

      Some of the improvements include:
      Increase the number of mutual friends you can have to over 500 🙂
      Search online friends
      Jump directly to games and public chat channel with your friends
      And more!

        500 friends…..hmmmm …. within a couple of months that will probably be the total amount of players on Pogo they way they are going!

    • There is also business cadence: Definition of cadence in business. At its most basic level, a cadence is defined as a rhythmic sequence. Within a business environment, a cadence refers to the frequency, format, and sequence with which a manager meets with the individuals on their team.

      I think this may be a partial reason for why the platinum badges didn’t show up on the 15th – their cadence is off.

  47. I still love Word Whomp. I play it every morning on my i-phone. Having said that, during the day I find myself playing Pogo Addiction Solitaire to relax. So, I guess I would have to say PAS.

  49. Bingo was my fave til I ranked out of it. Second favorite is the Daily Soduku .
    My only problem with that game is the daily special never resets.
    So I don’t have any idea how long I have to wait . It’s been over a month that this has been happening so i am about ready to give up on that daily special version.

  50. Poppit Bingo has become my favorite. Rank 165 and all of the Achievement Awards completed (but a ways to go on collectibles).

    Three questions, if I may:

    1. Do we ever play with “real players” in a bingo game? I only see bots’ names in my winners lists.

    2. Are we ever going to get the rest of the answers from the Truth/Lies game? I’m dying to know if the player really was on Jeopardy!

    3. Where is MomsBassetHound (Suz)? I’ve missed her!

    • to answer #1 – Yes, there are real players in the room with us sometimes. Moms has said you can tell from how many cards are in play – if I remember correctly, the bots play with only 3 cards, so if there are 20 players and there are 19 bots and you (playing with 4) there would be 61 cards in play, If the number is higher than 61, there’s another human or so in there. When I played today there were 62 cards in play so that meant there were 2 of us humans playing with 4 cards and 18 bots playing with 3.
      Also, you can kind of tell from the names – the bots have lame names.

      to answer #3 – Suz hasn’t been feeling well. She is under a doctor’s care and being a good patient. It is not COVID related, thank goodness. She will be back when she is feeling better and feels up to sitting at the computer.

  51. I like Poppit Bingo. If I don’t play every day, I at least try to get the daily tickets.

  52. I’m still very fond of Word Whomp and glad it made it to the new site.

    But the big news for me today is that I finally, finally, finally made it to 10,000 badges!! I had given up this goal about 2 years ago, then long-hauler COVID struck me last year, and February had kidney cancer and now have only one left….BUT, Pogo has been a constant for me throughout the many hospital stays….always faithful and still there when I return home and can play! Cannot believe such a little thing could mean so much, but it does…I actually whooped out loud last night when I got it.

    So, I guess my favorite is really ANY game I can play, I can celebrate. Thanks to Lura and BH, y’all are always here for help and company when I need it. 🙂

  53. Just wanted to say Thanks to everyone that has asked about me. I’ve been very ill for about 3 weeks, spent a few days in the hospital and got home late yesterday afternoon.

    I haven’t actually played anything since before 4/1 until today, and only played a couple of HOGS. And to be honest I have no interest in playing at this point. It’s just taking too much energy that I don’t have right now 🙂

    I have been trying to read and keep up with what’s going on. And I’ve spoken to a few friends daily. They are keeping me up to date on what’s been happening…or not happening, as in the case of the missing Platinum Badges 🙂

    Thanks again to everyone that has reached out to me. It really means a lot!
