Mahjong Sanctuary: Daily Board

Pogo has added a new feature to Mahjong Sanctuary today. The “Daily Board” offers a different level to complete every day to earn some Feathers, which are used to purchase power-ups and boosts in the game. You must win a Daily Board level to earn your Feathers from it.

This will be helpful for people looking to earn more Feathers. When you complete a week’s worth of Daily Board levels, you’ll earn 100 Feathers.

In order to unlock the Daily Board, you must have earned 25 stars by winning levels.

The Daily Board resets every Tuesday. Pogo says, “You must start when the board starts and if you miss a day, you cannot go back to collect the rewards. However, you can still get rewards as you progress so don’t worry if you’ve missed a day. Just hop right back in!”

To get started, open Mahjong Sanctuary and look for the calendar icon in the lower left corner of the game. Clicking on that will bring up the Daily Board for the week.

  2. You don’t have to match them but you have to break them by matching the tiles around them. I have played 2 games and so far haven’t been able to win so not sure I even like this.

    • I too have played four games and not won either, came close the third time but on fourth try only got maybe half way. Not sure this is going to be a help.

      • It took a while but finally got it and didn’t have to use power ups, just a lot of patience and nothing to do, lol, good luck all

  5. Took me a long time to win, but I did win the game on my first try (I used no power ups nor redos). The blue tiles “dissolve” a little at a time as you match the tiles next to them. It took 2 matches for them to completely appear as a regular tile (no blue). The entire game seemed extra long to me — I think there were many more tiles than other rounds I have played in this game. I got 10 feathers for completing today. You get 100 feathers after winning 7 days. Good luck all — it’s not easy!

    I did win the first game I played even though initially I did not know how to get rid of those “blue” tiles. I got lucky because I did remove the tiles surrounding the “blue” tiles. It wasn’t a easy puzzle for me so I don’t think I will play every day. However, Good Luck to those of you who do decide to play daily. BTW, thanks for letting me know the daily games can be played more than once.

    • I don’t see the point. I am pretty slow at all this matchy-matchy stuff, especially in this game. I spent 25 minutes, finally won the game, and got 30 feathers. That will make a big difference, now won’t it? Maybe there will be a big feather payout at the end of the 7 days, but I won’t be the one reporting this event if it happens. Sorry, Pogo, for me this move is labelled a “fail”, and besides, I have lots of other daily stuff going on.

      AND – what happened to the Golden Cone Marathon tracker? Doesn’t this contest go until Thursday? I’m not sure how many I have left to do still, and that tracker came in really handy.

      • The reason for the daily puzzle is that there are many players that are having problems with levels in the 200’s and 300’s, and they have used all their feathers.

        This gives them a way to earn them so they don’t have to buy them.

        They should do this in Sweet Tooth Town for the members that don’t have enough chocolate coins.

      • I enjoy playing Mahjong Sanctuary a lot, and I’m really pleased with this new daily challenge. Though I tend to play a game over and over until I win without using a power-up, after half a dozen attempts, I’ll usually use an “extra slot” power-up. Am guessing I’ll need more and more as I advance.
        Love that we don’t have to spend gems to buy power-ups. Love that there is a counter to let us know how many remaining moves, and if the tile we’ve clicked on has a match. Love we can undo our last move for free. Now love that we get extra feather power-up purchasing power!

  7. Tried again but could not win the game so I decided if I need those feathers that bad in any future games then I will just buy them. This reminds me too much of QA as you have to keep playing over and over to win and for me that is not fun.

  8. I am only at rank 62 as I only play this game for badges. I checked out their new daily puzzle and saw frozen blocks. lol It’s not worth it to me to play a puzzle umpteen times for a few feathers. I will be skipping this.

  9. Question: What happens to the people who ranked out (fortunately not me yet)? Are they screwed as a reward for working hard to achieve this (as happened in Sweet Tooth Town and Poppit Party, just to mention 2 out of many). For me, it means only playing the required games for the event and hoping I will make it to the end.

    • No, this is actually a benefit to those in the higher levels, the 200’s and 300’s. Some have run out of feathers trying to beat some of those levels, this allows them to earn more so they can try again.

        • Also, feathers let you buy power-ups and if you use them sparingly, you won’t run out (I get 30 or 40 each level and have over 3700). Stars, to finish the animal areas, are what you can run out of. (I have around 70 with 5 areas left to do.)

          • There are currently 450 levels and that allows you to earn 450 stars. To complete the animal enclosures for all 9 animals it requires 450 stars. So enough stars to do it all. They have already said that more animals would be released, so they intend to keep this game going with new content.

          • I was confused. I thought you had to play your own levels (mine look like the one they gave us). It’s great if we get different levels to play.

    • I finished all the levels last weekend and had no reason to play anymore, so I’m glad they added this.

  10. Another question: The illustration at the top shows level 4. If it just started today, how did someone get there? I was able to do level 1but it’s telling me I can’t do level 2 for 14 hours.

    • That’s Pogo’s image, from their blog post. They probably took it from an internal/development version of the game. It also shows a number of days until an event begins, which our version does not!

  12. Today’s puzzle (Day 2) was much easier and faster than yesterday’s. So, I will keep doing these puzzles until they get too hard to do for me. It’s a nice way to earn some extra feathers!

  13. Make sure you are playing the right puzzle. I was confused yesterday and played a puzzle from the regular game and now discovered today that I didn’t get the credit.

  14. Today is the 7th day of the daily board. I’m finding it impossible to complete without power-ups. That seems counter productive. Use your feathers just to get them back? Makes no sense to me. I think I’m done with the daily games.

    • Hi Cher — I completely agree! I’ve tried Day 7 over and over and over and am getting no where. I too, feel Pogo wants us to use Power-Ups, which is counterproductive like you said. I will try the daily game here and there, but unless I can get through #7 soon, I doubt I’ll waste my time.

        • And I was beginning to think it was just me! Spend this much time daily with a pre-doomed grid followed by another and another and yet another……. they gotta’ be kidding! Really, how dumb do they think we are? Too bad, too, b/c I LOVE the whole concept and and beauty of this game. Gorillas hugging a baby doll is awesome!

      • I also have tried Day 7 many times today and not even getting close, wouldn’t make sense as you said to use power-ups. Well try a few more times to see what happens later in the day. have a nice day everyone

    • Day 7 is very Quinn’s like in that I needed to restart many times to get a winnable layout. However, I was willing to spend 1 extra slot when I got close. Depending upon which group of extra slots you buy, they cost between 69 and 78 feathers per slot, so the reward of 140 feathers for this day is a bargain. If you are not willing to reload umpteen times, you might want to risk using a couple of jokers to remove the pruners at the beginning.

      • I agree, Pogo didn’t need to make the final puzzle so difficult. Unless you clear two sets of red clippers or two sets of green clippers you won’t unlock that row near the top. I tried the usual way a half dozen times, then kept reloading until I saw I could get to one of the two sets. Even with that, I had to use one of my Extra Slot power-ups. I still came out ahead with the 130 feathers. Good luck.

    • Count me in. I can not win it either. I had no problems up until now. I also tried several times.

    • You are correct It is counter productive to use them on the daily’s.
      One power-up is about 70 feathers…if You win only using one…but..on the other hand you got 50 bonus for the
      5th day goal plus the feathers you got for the 6 days (200-300 Feathers in all)…so it wasn’t a complete waste of time n effort…I agree today’s was hard n I got lucky winning it on second try…set your goals to make 5 in the week n don’t stress the hard ones…I was fully prepared to accept the 5th goal…just got lucky.

  15. Personally I think this game is a Gem user big time. When you have to restart a game 20 plus times it’s a turn off for me. I don’t like to give up but this 7th day challenge is too frustrating for me. I may try again later today but I’m sure not looking forward to playing this game anymore at all.

    • I disagree about this game using a lot of gems! Power ups cost feathers, not gems. Even if you cannot complete the 7th day, doing the other days routinely will give you plenty of feathers to provide power up supplies.

      • I agree about the part of “using feathers” to buy power ups or boosters but I have to disagree about the part “plenty of feathers”. Have you seen the price, of power ups?
        If you complete all 7 days max. you get is 190 feathers which hardly buys you a set of 3 of one of the power ups only!
        Now if you skip Day 7 because is too difficult and wait for the new board it’s only 90 feathers for 6 days!. Personally I think 90 feathers hardly apply as “plenty of feathers”
        I know, 90 is better than 0 all the way but if pogo really wanted to help players they could have made daily boards super easy and fast to win!

        And it’s about the same with regular levels where max feathers you can get is 50.

        If the amount of feathers won just for playing the game and now doing the daily boards was “plenty” and enough to buy all the power ups needed to move forward in the game specially when reaching those very difficult levels (and without having to redo the same levels hundreds of times) there wouldn’t be a Feather Shop in the first place!

        At least they tried to “help” players in some way, I give them that.
        Maybe the could do something similar (but with real easy puzzles lol) for STT

        • If you watch your feather totals carefully you would notice that you win feathers each day that you win the daily puzzle…you get an additional amount for for completing as many as all 7 for 100 bonus points.
          Although I didn’t write the amounts I got each day I did notice that I received 40 several times n lowest I got was 20 I think..again I wasn’t tracking it n noticed on the third day I was gaining feathers for completing the daily goal.
          So making an educated guess some 40 some 20..lets say average 30 for relatively easy puzzles.
          That makes approx 210 + 100 for the week ( could be more I’ll be more attentive this week lol) or about 1200 in a month…n that almost 2 sets of 10 power-ups….for free…i’ll take that thanks…now gimme something for Quinns Aquarium.

      • I’m confused. If I want to buy an extra slot, does that cost gems, or does it cost feathers? And if I have 3 extra slots, will it cost anything, or will it just take away one of my extra slots? What happens when I run completely out — do I buy more with feathers or gems? Thanks for your help!

        • It costs Feathers…which you can buy for Gems or get free by doing the daily goals.
          I wait until I have enough feather to buy the ten packs (best value at I think 698 Feathers for the Extra Slot and the Shuffle…which are my favorites).
          So my advice is to play the daily’s and Not use power-ups to do them..then when you feel you have accumulated enough to buy your favorite power-ups go i n tackle some regular boards.

        • When you open a game (daily or level), the first thing you see is a screen that shows boosters and power ups with yellow bars that say “add”. If you click on any yellow add bar you will get another small pop up that gives you a choice of how many to add, each with another yellow bar listing how many FEATHERS it will take for that package. If you are in a game and want to use a powerup but have none, there is a “+” sign that will let you buy more with FEATHERS. If you are totally out of feathers, you can click on the “+” upper left by where your count of feathers is shown and spend gems to buy more feathers. But since you get feathers just for playing, I don’t recommend spending gems for them.

          • Thank you very much Jeff and FadedWildRose — I am glad to hear that the game uses feathers, and I will just try to accumulate enough feathers to get the power ups. If not, I will not buy gems to play the game. I don’t buy gems to play any game on Pogo. I did use a PU to get an extra slot for the 7th puzzle today, and so I was able to finish the game, thank goodness. I ended up getting the 100 feathers, plus another 30. I have no idea how many feathers it took to use the extra slot though. Thanks again, and I hope you both have a great day!

  16. I could not finish the Day 7 daily puzzle… it too hard and diffucult… thanks for the tips

    i made through Day 6 and was not too hard …. they will reset with new puzzles on Tuesday

  17. This 7th day puzzle is the same as level 335, I remember doing it over and over again and eventually finishing it. I’ll probably skip it this time. All the bonus levels are probably repeats of real levels.

  18. I love this game and the idea of the daily board. However I’m not getting the feathers from the daily board. I’m only getting the feathers for completing the game.

    • I did get the reward feathers today. It does not announce them at the end of the game as it does the feathers for winning, but my feathers total upper left suddenly jumped up the 60 not just the 30 for the game.

  19. I’ve been playing the daily board since it started and have yet to receive the daily reward. Only getting the game reward. I keep playing hoping it will change but I think i’m done.

    • The “extra” reward is not every day, but days 1,3,5, and 7. There is no announcement that you have won it, so you have to watch your feathers total on each of those days to see how many you are awarded. So far I have always gotten the extra rewards on those days.

      • i do watch my feather count and I am only receiving the amount from game play, not daily board. I played again today and only got 40 feathers instead of 100. And yes I am going into the daily reward “”box”‘ and clicking play. Not doing it anymore.

  21. I like Jeff’s idea, so I kept track of my feather totals. This week my accounts had increases from low of 440 to high of 480 feathers Since I only used 1 power up (extra slot) all week, that is a nice feathery profit — plenty to buy a medium sized package of power-ups. Until day 6 the layouts started with several places where all four tiles of a set were playable right at the get-go. I do wish they could change the graphics so that I don’t have to mouse over all the tiles to tell which are movable.

  22. Good news i did the daily board this week and completed it.. .the last one day 7 was easier than last week
    and did not have to repeat too many times… i did not realzie these puzzles where puzzles in the game itself til last week … gl

  23. Help!! I have no clue how to play the frozen block level! I have played it over and over and still can’t figure it out. Lol.

    • Are you talking about the Halloween Event?

      You thaw out those tiles by making matches around the frozen tile. If it’s the 5th puzzle in the Halloween Event you want to concentrate on clearing the tiles in the upper right of the puzzle.

      I was able to complete it the 2nd time I tried b/c I watched where I got stuck the 1st time.
