Pogo has begun another Magic Marathon today. Over the rest of this month, you can earn up to 65 badges total. It begins today, September 4, and lasts through October 1.
To get started, visit Pogo’s Magic Marathon page and click the yellow “Unlock Free Badges” button to start. Once you unlock the thirty free badges, you may choose to buy up to 30 random additional badges for 8 Gems each.
These badges will be yours to keep and complete at any time, but completing various numbers of these badges before the deadline of 11:59pm on October 1 will award you with bonus badges. To get the first two Bonus badges, complete 30 challenges before the deadline. To get three more Bonus badges, complete 40, 50, and 60 of the challenges before the deadline. You can track your progress on this Magic Marathon progress page. The 5 bonus badges will be awarded after the event ends.

I play trivial pursuit every day. I cant back track to earlier years because I have them done. once you win the daily you cant replay it again.. I need 15 more wins to get this badge. doesn’t look like I will get to finish the other 2–# 55 and # 56. not enough days will be left.

Can’t you do the random puzzle challenge and the answer a certain number of questions challenge first? And just ignore your calendar until you complete the other two challenges? Then you can activate the calendar badge and complete the days you didn’t complete yet. If you do it this way you could theoretically complete all three challenges by the 20th day of the marathon.

I am not unhappy with my random selection of 30 free challenges – could be better, but also could be worse. I am going to complete them first before I commit to buying any more challenges. If I get done with these ones quickly, i will take a look a the requirements of the remaining badges and see if I want to try my luck with them. the three award badges for “final thirty” look cute, but don’t quite reach the “must must have” level of cute.

I think the cutest badge is the one for completing 50 challenges, the one with Sir Barnaby on the badge. The rest of the reward badges are just so-so.

It’s also the only one that does not feel repetitive to what we have had in the past. The last one, for 60, looks similar to the June Magic Marathon final award with Nestor – same Nestor in a wizard’s hat looking at an object, and the Antoinette badge doesn’t feel all that different from the one we just had for Antoinette Summer Celebration. In fact, I think all Antoinette badges look kind of similar…
I am not sure whether this marathon is worth spending 240 gems and who knows how much time to complete… but I am keeping my mind open and I will see how I feel when i am done with the free ones.

OMG, really? Six each of STT, Claire Hart, Sanctuary, Jet Set, Sol Garden and Pogo Daily? Surely that will mean I will get bunched up with one game that I don’t really like much. Or, even worse, while there are only three Trizzles and Cookie Connect I’ll probably get all six of those, lol.
And of course, of my favorite games, there are only three Jungle Gin and three Mahjong Garden. I’m even a little afraid of getting my free 30 because I’m not usually very lucky. I still have 9 left of the last Magic Marathon which will probably never get done so maybe it’ll be OK if more from this one joins them.
I have a question though, anyone have any idea why they are pushing Pogo Daily Sudoku so much, I mean really pushing it hard? They didn’t push Pogo Sudoku nearly as much when it came out and I like that one so much better.
Guess I’ll grit my teeth and go get my free 30 now. 🙂

You’re probably right. I should have realized that but buying gems for PDS or even using power ups for that game wouldn’t cross my mind. This also may be why the games with 3 challenges each are mostly games which have nothing to use gems for or for which you rarely would use gems.
Using gems on a game such as Sudoku, any HOG, games like Trizzle or STT is just not on my radar at all.

I am with you… though I am happy I got 0 Cookie Connects and only 2 of Sweet Tooth Town. I liked Sweet Tooth Town until I got to the three final businesses – the ice cream, the cookies and the sugar shack – and there I can barely win a level without power-ups. Meh. Once I use up the free power-ups (I think I have one left) I will probably give up on these altogether and keep replaying the earlier three shops.

The early levels in the Bakery or the Chocolate Factory are good for racking up points quickly. The games go really fast, you can get 50,000 to 100,000 points in a couple of moves.

I did get all three Word Whomps and some Bookworm so those will be what I do and skip the rest.
I don’t put myself through the torture of Jet Set and several others anymore.. just not worth it.

For the trivial Pursuit badge where you have to earn 20 wedges on daily or calendar quizzes……
I would think you could just go back wards on the calendar and play games you already won to earn the wedges… I have this badge also but have not started it yet but that was what I was going to do… Go to the calendar and play old dates and see if the wedges count..
I guess I should have tried this out first before I came here but have no time to try it out but wanted to mention it in case it works…. This way you would not have to wait and just do one a day if you are current…

I just realized that the check mark at the left means you filled up the wedges in Trivial Pursuit, and have to move on. Right now, I am in the month of May due to I’ve have them all done thereafter. I’m a slow learner, LOL.

You can’t replay any daily quiz that you have already completed. Since I do it daily, I have no undone daily wedges to do. I’m almost willing to bet that Llama doesn’t know that. We haven’t had a badge like this is a very long time, possibly before she worked at Pogo.

I honestly think I’m just going to skip it, I don’t like to have to play for hours several days a month to try & get these badges they aren’t worth it to me & it actually causes me neck & arm irritation. I might to do the free badges & not worry about if they are done by the 1st.

I actually don’t mind the mix but I think 50 random puzzles in TP is a bit much…60 badges to do, plus game of the month plus the over 100 I already have and who knows when oh when there will be time to work on badges/ranks in flash games going bye bye soon. I keep telling myself I’m going to work on NEW puzzles in solitare/jet set but that idea goes bye bye just to get some of them done, and rewash and respin the same easy levels over and over…In fact, I didn’t finish the last limited time one on jet set because of the so many things to get done by such and such a time, and now it’s gone bye bye…or if it’s not I can’t see where it is. Enjoy your badging mates. At almost 12000 badges, it might be the beginning of the end and I never ever thought I’de say that.

I too found the Magic Page. BUT I had to pay 8 Gems for each card turned over. So that was 60 cards times 8 Gems equals 480 spent. My page had NO free yellow UNLOCK FREE BADGES. I went in and out and closed the browser and restarted again. NO free yellow UNLOCK FREE BADGES button. anyone else have this happen?

Here’s a tip to get the marathon done FAST. I have been doing this for a while now and it works. This morning right after the Marathon was released I did the 6 badges in Pogo Daily Sudoku in about 2 ½ hours.
1. First go to “Badges”…”Find A Badge”
2. Select the game you are going to play
3. Choose “Mix-n-Match”
4. Badge images: “Small”
Scroll to find the badges you want to select and, if they all show on the screen, click as fast as you can.
If they don’t all show on the same screen continue with the following:
5. Right click on “Badges”…”Find A Badge” The same screen you see in first part should show here, now scroll till you see the rest of the badges you want to activate
6. Make both as narrow as you can where you can still see the “Activate” buttons and put the windows side by side so you can click as fast as you can. Layer the 2 windows as shown and start by clicking on the “Activate” buttons on the window on top first then go to the window behind. If needed you can layer more windows but the important thing is to have the buttons as close together as you can.
7. Make sure you have different badges on each of the screen.

Not sure if I’m not doing it correctly or not being fast enough when I click the activate buttons but is not working for me.
Only one was activated and if a try again and click fast it ask me if i want to deactivate the other badge.
It would be great to be able to activate all the STT I got at the same time and get credit for all at the same time because they are long badges in a game I don’t really like.

This has never worked for me either, Dee. I don’t know if it’s because I am on a Macbeth I’ve tried Safari, Pale Moon and Puffin and it doesn’t work for me.

Cindy, I understood you meant Mac, lol! I have a PC and an Ipad (didn’t try my Ipad yet). Tried chrome, firefox, IE. Would be great if I can get it to work as I have 5 Mahjong Sanctuary challenges (even though I can go back and play the earlier levels).

This might be the best hint ever. At first you think it didn’t work, but when you start playing, the other badges start appearing. It only worked for me for 2 out of 3 Sudoku badges, but it worked for all 5 of the Sanctuary badges, and THAT’S the one I wanted it to work on. All hail to sirron1957!

Yes, it did this morning when I completed two StoryQuest badges. I hunted a bit to find a game where I had two badges close enough to click them almost simultaneously. Good luck!

I wasn’t going to work on this Marathon, but I decided to try it. I’m not real thrilled with the game selection I got, so I’m not going to be concerned with meeting the deadline (for my 30 free ones or the 60).
I’m happy that I only got 1 Trizzle (#53), and only 2 Sweet Tooth Town (# 3 & 6) and Cookie Connect (#37 & 38).
I’m not thrilled that I got 5 Mahjong Sanctuary (# 13, 14, 15, 17, & 18), and all 3 Mahjong Garden. These games take me the longest to play.
I’m also not thrilled that I got no selections for Jungle Gin or Word Whomp. It would have been nice to have had some selections in those games in place of some of the Mahjong games.
What I may decide to do is pay for some of the selections I didn’t get in games I’d prefer to play.

In my 30 free I got 2 Trizzle and only 1 Cookie Connect and 1 Sweet Tooth Town so it could have been worse. I did get 2 Jungle Gin but only 1 Mahjong Garden and those are two of my favorites.
The rest were 4 Jet Set (yuck) 3 each of Claire Hart, Sanctuary, Sudoku, Sol Gardens and Bookworm. 2 Story Quest, 1 Trivial Pursuit and 1 Word Whomp.
I did buy a few turns, I bought only 5, I was hoping for more Jungle Gin or Mahjong Garden but got another Trizzle (double yuck), a Claire Hart, a Sweet Tooth Town, a Story Quest and another Sanctuary. I decided then to quit while I’m ahead, or behind, lol.
There will be some of these will probably never do, I still have 9 left from the previous Magic. I don’t mind leaving the free ones behind but I don’t like to not complete the ones that I’ve paid for so I think this will be enough for me.

Oh my… I am still up and have a doctor appointment early morning…
I finally went to Trivial Pursuit and working on the Random puzzle badge off and on all day and night long and only got 6 done… This badge is going to put me out for good… I must be dumber than dumb but I cannot finish the puzzle… I get so close where I need like 25 or 50 points and miss the last question… even when I wait for the last 2 answers to show….
I am not even sure I will get this badge done let alone the other one cause I should have started with that one first….
I also got 4 Sweet Tooth and so long and boring…
I skipped last Magic and think I should have skipped this one also…. Oh my …. sorry but I just wanted to vent before I head off to bed… but really I could cry over that Random Trivial badge… why did Pogo give us 50 of them to do…
Once I got started it dawned on me that they gave us a badge like this long ago but I think we needed only 20 and that was so hard, but 50 is going to have me pulling my hair out…

One suggestion is that if you do not intend to buy the other 30 badges available is to buy 1 n do that to get your 30 done…..although this would leave that nasty 50 undone n leave an album undone as well…..perhaps plug along as you have been n if time becomes an issue then buy the one to at last get your 30 done.

In Sweet Tooth Town, the best levels seem to be the first levels of the Chocolate shop. They are virtually impossible to lose, and I end up getting ~400 candies and over 50,000 points each time. Plus half the time the game plays itself as the unused moves are converted.

M. Sanctuary: Level 3 has the seasons right on top every time. I tried just matching the seasons and exiting (going back to sanctuary) and found that those seasons counted. Of course that means going back to the sanctuary every time, so if you have even minimum skill you may want to complete level 3 and “play next level” through 4 and 5 which are relatively easy. All 3 of these levels lend themselves well to finding first any set of tiles that have all 4 showing right at the start.

#22 – Solitaire Gardens – Flower Power Meter – an Easy-Peasy badge!
English Garden 1 Level 55 – once you max it out once, stop and just flip the next card to reset the meter, and you can max it out 3 or 4 times easily per round.

I kind of wish I didn’t start this one since the last one was frustrating. I’ll just do the badges for games I like. But gosh, the requirements for the games I got are really over the top! Have been enjoying some.
I have to wonder if it’s even possible to complete the 30 free badges before 10/1 unless you can devote 24 hours a day to being on Pogo. Can’t imagine 60 badges! Best of luck to those trying!

On the bottom right there is a wheel with the four seasons. As you match a pair (ex. winter-winter) the corresponding symbol lights up. Match all four seasons and you complete the wheel and get bonus points. If you do it right (match all four seasons before you duplicate a season) you can get two per game. 🌈🌞☂❄

Also, you do not have to complete the game to get credit for matching the seasons. I am not sure which is faster matching one season and quitting or try for 2 seasons and prolonging the game. I think I will try the 2 to see which is faster so thanks for the tip.

Doing these long and some being boring badges wouldn’t be bad if that is all you had to do all month but combined that with 3 weeklies a week and 2 personals to also get done doesn’t leave much time for this marathon. Some of these badges have extremely long requirements and for me having all 3 Trivial Pursuit ones leaves me probably no time to finish them all. At this point I don’t really care if they are all done. I will just do the games that I like. To those that can endure all of them I salute you!

Before I started playing I changed my tiles to the Animals set but I didn’t get credit for completing the game.
Now I’m not sure what they mean by complete animal sets. Could somebody please explain ?

I set mine to Animal set and finished the complete set from the Rat to the Pig (12 stones) and did not get any credit either!

As we discussed on the Q&A the challenge description was the worst ever.
All it means is to do 32 puzzles using the animal puzzle layout, not the temple layout.
You can use whatever tiles you want.

This is for the Trizzle (#52) Complete 200 Levels badge. Not sure how long this will work but for now, you can load the game, and before you move any of the dolls, click the “X” to “quit” and click “yes,” and it counts as one round. (using firefox browser for this game)
It would probably get annoying doing that 200x but if anyone really hates playing this it might help avoid a few of those rounds. Until they fix it of course.

Orange Candies – I did some snooping around. While Chocolate Level 16 works very well, I think Chocolate Level 3 works even better – there’s lots of orange, and lots of opportunities for “swirl candies” and for matching the “swirl candies” with other power-upped candies, resulting in huge board clearing.

I can’t believe I am even debating about buying the rest of the games, but I am getting burned out repeating these games almost 100 times each as in Story Quest, and then just copying numbers in others and now I think about paying $20 for the remaining 30 and I could just get a few brain games..
It was so nice to play a regular game of Sudoku this morning and use my brain for a change. We need a few more games like that. At least I need a few more like that. Happy playing.
I don’t remember how many tokens I got on the last marathon but did not get a badge. I only bought 2 of the 3 for sale games….oops, that did it.

I just started that badge too for Mahjong Sanctuary. I also thought if I clicked on 3 sets of tiles fast and let it cool down I would get more credit but I’m not so I testing out other strategies. I don’t know if there are any tricks to get it done faster.

I don’t know for sure but I’m getting more credit in one game when I play Level 4 because I’m familiar where most of the tiles are. I just keep clicking and so far I’m averaging between 15 to 20 each game. When I tried Level 1 I only received credit for 3. Don’t know if that helps or not. Good luck!

I think the challenge is combos with the meter at the top showing 3X. (Like Claire when the badge needs object with the meter at 6X.) My question is does it also give credit when that meter is showing 4X or 5X.

I don’t know if the meter makes a difference or not (meaning 3x or up to 5x). Once again Pogo could have given a better explanation of the challenge.
At first I let the meter cool down like in Claire but I didn’t get any more credits. In any case fast clicking in a layout that one is comfortable gets more credits. I just happened to like Level 4 for this badge. Took me no time to get this badge.

Maybe you need 4 matches. The second match would be the 1st combo, the 3rd match would be the 2nd combo and the 4th match would be the 3rd combo. I haven’t tried it yet. 🐒

I’m working on Sweet Tooth Town in which I have to make 2200 moves. Is the maximum moves 30 on any town (bakery, chocolate shop, etc.)? Right now I’m using Bakery Level 20 (which I won) and playing that over and over and deliberately making bad moves so I can use all 30 moves. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m using my moves to do new levels, and playing until I get 3 stars. That way I’m getting lots of chocolate coins too.
I only redo the easy levels when I have to get 3 stars for a badge.

I see lots of posts for this Magic Marathon. I’ve read a lot of them, and I can see that many are overwhelmed by the length of time each badge takes, as well as how tedious it all is. Definitely not going to worry about getting even ten of these done this month. Waaaay too boring to play the same game over and over and over and over and over and over, well you all know!! I’ll play the ones they gave us sometime in the future, but for now, I think I’ll actually go play a game I enjoy for as long as I enjoy playing it. Then … imagine this … I’ll stop playing when I’m tired of playing.

No, once they are in your M&M Album they will stay there.
The reason some of the other Marathon Badges disappear is b/c they don’t show in any album, they are just included in weekly album count.
But once you have a M&M Badge it is yours for life.

I have a bunch left over from the June Magic – I found it was too tedious to keep going back and having to click on them to see what the badge goals are , so I keep the written list instead.

Didn’t see this posted so here’s a time saver tip for the Mahjong Garden 4 Season Challenge.
Once you get all 4 Seasons undo the last 2 Season tiles and redo them…each time you do this it counts as 1 Season.

Had to do the 20 wedges in TP first then the 380 correct answers. So glad it was this one and not the 50 random for that alone would have taken all month long to do. A much need rest in looking good right about now, lol.
