It’s been on the coming soon list for a little while, but now there are more details about the upcoming HTML5 upgrade to Scrabble available from a blog post on the Pogo News! The game will be available in June*, and will have improved graphics and better performance as opposed to the current Flash version which will be replaced when this version is launched. This game will be a multiplayer game — the first since Pogo has started converting and releasing games in HTML5 — though the screenshots that Pogo shared (also shown below) only show play against a robot:
You will be able to choose from four styles of board and tile: Modern, Rosewood, Classic, or Premium:
Also shown in these screenshots is a new Pogo logo and the chat area once again on the side of the game!

Personally it’s never been a favorite, but thrilled that this could be the beginning of Pogo converting some of the card games.

One of my favorites, and I’m glad they are continuing the game, but I’ve ranked out at least two times before and since this new version obviously won’t give us tokens, I don’t know how inclined I’ll be to play it much. Also, the new HD games play very slowly on my computer, so it remains to be seen how well this one will do.

Chat on the side shown in the screen shots proves pogo could revise all the other hd games to have chat on the side instead of below. But if pogo revises all those games now it will only impede their progress towards getting more games transformed to hd. And I think pogo will need to revise the location of the side bar settings / choices. But their is more hope now for the transformation of cards games to hd – yeah!

also not a favorite of mine.. i only played it for badges.. hope everything works so that we can look forward to some of the card games such as gin,, canasta.. etc

Yay, this update will close out a PBA and a M&M album for me. The requirements for those two badges were win X number of games using Pogo House Rules. Those badges have been sitting there for a long time. 🖼 🕙 Glad to see a multi-player game with chat on the side.

You could always double browse to win those badges. Scrabble is a very easy game to lose.

Not a favorite game of mine either BUT looking forward to them changing over card games such as Spades, Hearts, Jungle Gin and love knowing they can now put the chat on the side….
I am so waiting for the card games to be changed over….

I really enjoy Scrabble but don’t play often because I ranked out long ago. I never warmed up to Qwerty but as I grew up playing Scrabble I’be enjoyed it over the years. Maybe I’ll get a new wind with the HD version as I have with other games that were converted.

Always like the word games and glad to see Pogo changing this over to the new format. Glad they are starting to put the chat back on the side. Hopefully ranking up won’t take forever like some of the others. Looking forward to giving it a try.

I’m thrilled, kudos to Pogo! Best news in a long time. As one of the most played Flash games, Pogo really needed to step up – keep this license, and convert Scrabble. Awhile back, there was a huge backlash when this game was going to be removed. Now many devoted Scrabblers will renew membership. The game looks great, love the chat on the side, am hopeful for many other multiplayer games now. That’s the new logo? Am underwhelmed. Doesn’t say “fun and games” to me.

Mu hubby plays Scrabble every day. He’s really good at the game. I like it too. I wish they would bring back more word games. I’m tired of the timed games. I also find the games to find items I can’t see very difficult especially if we have to complete them without any hints. Phyllis rlc1933

I am ok with Scrabble. But I can’t understand why Pogo would convert a game that not all countries can play. There are so many old games that could have been converted before Scrabble.

I hope that this is a beginning for multi-player games, but since the diagrams only show play against bots, I’m not holding my breath… this maybe more of the same less fun… but I hope, I hope…
