Happy Weekend Everyone!
Share a positive experience you’ve had with Pogo lately!
The weekend open thread is a regular feature at BadgeHungry. Every weekend, we chat about the discussion topic, or anything else game-related. It’s a great place to test the waters of commenting and introduce yourself, ask for help with a game or challenge, or talk about your games and make friends.
See you in the comments!

I just received an email from Pogo telling me they accepted me as a tester for the “new experience” that I applied for several weeks ago! Has anyone else received this email? I am super excited!

Too funny – I was trying to think of something “positive” but can’t seem to no matter how hard I try. Still ticked off that Pogo won’t give me back my gems that they took from me.

Nothing POSITIVE about pogo in a couple of years! So Sad what’s been done to pogo!

Being a tester fpr games etc… I was a tester for Punks Peak when Bret was still around…. and its was fun
to get feedback… i wondering if the new experience for the new web site and or new game or games to launch in the future… I know people will have to keep quiet till its released….I am glad the tester phase has returned..

It’s been a while, but about 2 or 3 months ago one of my Jackpot Spins released 50 gems! As I recall, I think it was while I was playing 6th Street Omaha Poker. But it may have also been while playing Casino Island Blackjack. That’s the first time I’ve been awarded gems.
We’re expecting another week/weekend of rainy weather. The last couple of days it was sunny and in the high 60’s, low 70’s, shirtsleeve weather. Now we’re back to the 40’s, and had to put my winter coat on again! Enough already!!
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
RyzandShyn says
Ok, I have two things 🙂
1) This week I won a free week of Club Pogo in a jackpot spin.
2) During this month of April, I played free badges almost exclusively – GOTM, Egg Hunt, Sky Sprint Marathon, Treasure Trail Marathon, Weekly badges, Superstar badge, app badges, and in-game badges.
All that provided a lot of fun play time for free.
Happy Weekend!

Over the years, I’ve requested a call back from Pogo for technical support – twice, separate occasions, separate issues . I was really apprehensive, because historically I haven’t had alot of success with technical support from any company. But I couldn’t fix Pogo’s issue on my own. So I called. SUCCESS! Both times. No long wait period, no misunderstanding the issue, I could understand the support person clearly. The issues were fixed in a matter of moments.

sadly, nothing positive.
with the changes to STT and noone clearly understanding at POGO/EA that the coins are used to buy shops upgrades and extra spins that no matter how much you win on playing a level that is already at 3 stars will get you anymore coins .Even in the how to play it say that. Right before the change I bought ice cream house that left me with a total of 120 coins , even playing the tier one levels I can never upgrade to tier 2 . And the other two shops I did complete have all 3 stars, so I can never buy the three shops that are there in the construction mode..
I used what coins I did have sparingly in order to buy the 3 shops I do have and upgraded two of them fully 🙁
even now, with ice cream shop I was close to 3 stars on level one, with no ability to buy the 1000 coin extra turns, so I earned a whopping zero coins
Judi says
Congratulations on getting 3 stars on all the levels. I still have 2 chocolate, 3 cupcake and 8 candy with less than 3 stars. The chocolate one is awesome. I bought the sugar shack (only the first 10 levels) and hate it. Couldn’t even get 2 stars on most of them. Ditto for the cookie one which my friend bought.
As far as something positive about Pogo, I’m positive I won’t be renewing my membership!

IKR? That’s the only positive thing I could say about Pogo these days too!

I gave my membership to a friend that can afford it less than I can. At least their grandkids can enjoy some of the games before POGO takes them away too. (The games NOT the kids.)

Off topic – Is anyone having problems in Word Search Daily using the double click feature to find all the letters in that puzzle, for instance, all the “B” letters? It doesn’t seem to work for me using any of the browsers – Chrome, Edge, IE, Firefox.
MomsBassetHound says
It’s only a single left click. If you are double clicking you are undoing it.
Suz
Amy says
Nope, single clicking doesn’t work either.
Brenda M. says
Mine is double click to light all the same letterss
Brenda M. says
Double click “A” and all the “A”s light up, it is also in the “How to Play” instructions.
Brenda M. says
No trouble here, I use Chrome exclusively and I just checked and I double clicked a letter and it lit up all the letters I double clicked on. Mouse battery, maybe?????? Good luck!
shelnick9293 says
Double clicking works for me. I only tried Chrome & IE & they both work. Maybe try clearing out browsing history & your cache that could help.

Congratulations on both winning a week of Pogo & reaching 5000!!!! I can’t say I’ve ever won anything like that (gems or free week) so good deal for you!!!! I hear you about all the free games I’ve reached 7211 badges they sure are keeping us busy most likely hoping we will use gems to get those badges. So I am thankful for free games but not so happy about the loss of tokens & mini’s & games that I liked to play going away.

I let my subscription lapse 2 months ago and so far have tried the “positively” frustrating ad-filled free Pogo!! In all honesty, I can’t see why anyone would join with all the hoops you have to jump thru and the constant barrage of “Join the Club”. And no, not being negative, just relating what it is like to be playing free.
I really only enjoyed 3-5 games for a long time and would love to play Jungle Gin again. Who knows…..maybe I will join for a month or so. Just to see. It’s not that I can’t afford it………just that I choose not to pay $40 Cdn. for 3 games. So playing some of the ones like Word with Friends on Facebook, etc. Scrabble was one of my 3 top ones on Pogo and I can still get that.
I miss chatting with you folks occasionally and the camaraderie we all had. I fully intend to stay on Badge Hungry and just wanted to say hello (that’s a positive, lol). So have a great weekend and we are still waiting for warm weather up here in the Great White North.
Cheers……..Heather

It’s hard for me to mention a Positive thing, I mean there is probably a lot of positive things I could think of about Pogo but they would be all related to the old Pogo from 4 ot 5 years ago.
Lately? 5 minutes have elapsed since I wrote down “Lately” and can’t find anything positive to say, how sad is this 🙁
Except maybe that I won 100 gems in a jps on April 20 Yay! 🙂
On another note, I have a question, if I want to go back and read the very first comments for when “Clue” was a Comming Soon game or for when the game was released, is there a way I can get there quickly? I tried using both the Search the site or Select Category options but it seems like I have to click “older posts” a million times before getting there.
Amanda says
I thought the badges Pogo made for the Easter Egg challenges were really pretty. I especially loved the work on the ones that are like Faberge’ eggs but with a Pogo character from the game in the center. 🙂
Probably the most positive thing I’ve encountered on Pogo as far as the site’s efforts for players in a long time, and I realize I did pay for some of the badges… it’s still a positive outcome for me, personally.
Thanks!
Amanda

Well, I loved the egg hunt and was pleasantly surprised that they are gifting power ups + badges. Thought the badges and art work were beautiful for many challenges.
I loved the marathon and had a lot of fun getting those badges.
A pogo friend won a gift card and that made me happy!
I had a lot of fun chatting in golf solitaire and made a new friend from OH.
The java games got marked down to 8 gems and I was able to send some gifts to friends. I really am having fun playing the old games before they go away.
STT changes? I hope they change their thinking but I already took it off my favorites list.
I hurried up and used the glitch on word search and got my 3 badges.
I love that I have a place to send a message to my pogo friends. That’s probably my favorite
thing about Pogo.
I get a great deal of enjoyment from Pogo. It’s still the best $40 I spend each and every year.
Wishing all a wonderful weekend.

I love your mini Lura. I feel like a zombie from all the marathons lately. lol However I do like them if they are in a variety of games and it helps me to rank up in each.
ultimatetreebe says
I am in the minority I guess, but I like the changes. I am not a chatter while I play, so the chat feature is fine at the bottom for me, I like the buttons on the sides of the new htlm games, easier. I will miss the mini additions but I have a feeling something else will come along to replace them. Remember, EA started out with the Sims, and I loved that game. Maybe, just maybe they will have the sims here instead of our minis. I also am hopeful that I will like the new reward system. Fingers crossed. All in all, I enjoy pogo……
jgs98765 says
I agree. Pogo is always a positive experience for me. I understand the complains and agree with some of them. Still, I always have fun on pogo, and that’s what counts for me.

I’ve had no issues. The couple of times I’ve had to contact CS for missing power-ups, my problem was resolved immediately. Once time they even refunded gems to me .
I know people need to vent – and I completely understand – but subscribing to and playing POGO is a choice. I see so many of the same people complain over and over about POGO and I think to myself, just stop playing. No one is forcing anyone to buy a membership, play games, buy gems or power-ups. Just my $.02 for the day.
tiggerlicious196 says
Exactly!!!And to answer the question, I don’t have anything specific but I am happy that I have Pogo to play, especially in this moment where I need distractions after losing my grandma(who I got into Pogo a few years ago, along with my mom) a few days ago, so thank you Pogo- Yea there’s some games leaving that I will miss but maybe we’ll see ’em in HD, just have to wait and see what they do 🙂 But I’m not upset over it all or anything because technology changes so you just change along with it even when it sucks having to deal with different things/ways of the technology world
Cindy4764 says
I’m curious about that too. If someone can’t find even one positive thing to say about Pogo why are they still paying for it and playing there? Honestly, just curious but perhaps they are only venting and thankfully they have a good and safe place to do so here at BH. 🙂
RyzandShyn says
I don’t feel it’s as black and white as “Pogo – love it or leave it”.
-Venting frustrations here is a good barometer of how other players feel about the same “problem” you perceive. Getting feedback from others helps put things in perspective.
-Protesting changes that one feels is unfair is what we do when we belong to a group that is being steam rolled – it’s a right as old as this country, and something that often leads to positive change.
– The “old guard” at Pogo were much more customer friendly and involved in the community of players. This “new guard”, which says they are concerned but seem to be turning a deaf ear, is a very difficult thing for old time players to get used to. We should be heard.
-“Fight the good fight” and “Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light” are sayings for a reason.

Thank you RyzandShyn! You put into well chosen words my sentiments on this issue of our freedoms. It’s fine if some people are complacent with anything that comes down the pike but the rest of us do have very legitimate concerns. Again thank you for expressing this so well.

Cindy4764 says
I don’t think it’s B&W at all, nor is it a love it or leave it situation but if I were doing something every single day and couldn’t find a single thing to say that was positive about it I don’t think I keep doing it. I also don’t think I’m complacent, I surely don’t like all the changes Pogo/EA have made but as there is not a single thing I can do about it I concentrate on enjoying the parts that I do like I guess like mookermom on another thread I tend to try and live with a glass half full attitude, thinking positive has gotten me through some very tough times so I’m glad this is my outlook.
But each to his own as they also say. 🙂
MomsBassetHound says
I couldn’t have said it any better.
I spent over 19,000 gems in 2018, and over 18,000 in each of the 2 years prior to that. And I expect to spend over 19,000 gems again this year. I think that gives me the right to speak my mind.
I don’t like the way that they just up and change a game without realizing that it’s not going to work. Back in the old days the employees actually played the games and knew how they worked. These days they just waste time changing them and then have to change them again.
In the old days there was a panel of players that were asked questions about things before Pogo did them. And they got honest answers, not answers that members thought Pogo wanted to hear. They didn’t always listen, but they did sometimes. Nothing has been asked of that panel in over 2 years, imagine that.
When I dislike more than I enjoy that will be when I call it quits. But until that time I have the right to express my opinion on anything that affects me.
Suz
RyzandShyn says
Well said, Suz. Really, when I think of it (and use my trusty computer calculator), if you add up the cost of membership and then the gem packages purchased, you can see that players could actually be spending X number of dollars to play each day, not just cents as we so often refer to when just calculating the cost of membership.
renee says
Different subject – you mention in daily rewards to watch videos for 2000 tokens each. I have done this daily for several years, but for last three weeks, the videos are not paying the promised tokens. Pogo does NOT take responsibility and says it is up to the advertisers – I say Pogo is the one promising the tokens and should be responsible for either seeing that they work, contacting the advertisers about the problem, or taking them down altogether.
My positive about Pogo is Badgehungry. I, too, will not be renewing Pogo membership.

A good friend disappeared from POGO for an extended period following the sudden loss of a loved one. I sorely missed my virtual friend’s presence here, her wicked sense of humor, and her supportive spirit. To my delight, I received a POGO message from her this week indicating her imminent return to the game! She included her phone number in her message. I called and we talked (and laughed) for over a half hour, catching up on all that has transpired in POGO during her absence. Thanks to POGO, I found this treasured friend and was able to renew our friendship after a prolonged period with no communication ~ a gift, a blessing.

A few months ago, I was able to get Pogo support to help me. I should have had all badges for Solitaire Gardens (not rank ones) and I didn’t. The person I was chatting with was able to award those missing badges to me. It was 6 that I should have had because I did have all the levels complete and had the happiness bar on all gardens full. So that was a positive experience.

* won 20 gems 2 times in 2 months
* was able to complete the egg hunt and 2 marathons!
* happy (albeit overworked) with all the freebies we’ve been getting lately
* I’m learning to like the new games more
It’s still not the same Pogo and I will miss all the old Java games!
I plan to rank out in Golf Solitaire and Spooky Slots before they retire.
Hopefully, I’ll have time to rank out in Stellar Sweeper, as well, but we’ll see.

Cindy4764 says
Just for starters, I can’t be anything but positive about all the free badges and albums we’ve been getting from Pogo. The easiest one to check was that for 2019 alone we’ve had 9 free PBAs with a total of 65 badges and of course there are many others. Yes, the marathon badges are mostly generic and repetitive but the operative word here is “free”. I like to have a challenge while I’m playing and these fit the bill fine. However, I disagree with the folks who say that most of the newer badges are ugly, I think many have been especially beautiful as well as some being quite creative. If we could post photos of them I’d do so.
I’m also one of the people who truly love the conversion of the games to HTML. I love the clearer, larger sizes of the playing fields; ie. cards, numbers, HOG objects, with some games the fields are so large I don’t even need to use full screen. There were a lot of older games I didn’t play because the playing field was so small I didn’t want to have to bend way over my keyboard to have to see them. And I’m talking my 21.5″ desktop screen, not a smaller laptop or tablet.
Yes, I’ll miss a few of the older games I loved, Dice City Roller, Blackjack Carnival to name a couple, but I’m happy they have converted some of the games that got me to sign on to the Club; Tri-Peaks, WCS, Mahjong Gardens (soon) and Safari. I also love some of the new games they’ve created; Jewel Academy and Quinn’s for example.
I’ve only had one session with EA support at the time my info was transferred over to EA. Even after getting it done I was having trouble logging in but the person I dealt with (actually two times) was very helpful and professional.
All in all I’m still a happy camper, folks can still play for the same $40/year they paid 15+ years ago and don’t have to spend another penny on gems or badges if they don’t want to. They can still play many games even if they don’t want to pay for Club, of the 33 games already converted to HTML there are only 4 that are Club games, that seems a good percentage to me.

What browsers have you tried?
Suz
MsTish5720 says
Moms, I’m using IE 10 or 11, I forgot.
And, sirron…I’ve thought about it, but, I’m afraid it might mess up other sites I go to. IE: Yahoo, FB, etc. Anyway, it’s too late now….:(
Thank you both very much!
Cindy4764 says
I’m sorry you weren’t able to finish but for future please think about downloading another browser, a lot of people with PCs seem to have good luck with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It shouldn’t mess up other sites like Yahoo or FB etc because you’d still have your Windows 10 or 11 browser, it’ll be the same. It’s more like having a blue shirt in your closet and then putting a red shirt in there too. You can still wear your blue shirt but sometimes your red shirt will work better with your outfit. 🙂
These are confusing times for everyone because one browser does not fit all at the moment. The same browser will generally not play HTML, Flash and Java games. Right now I’m using Safari on my desktop for HTML games and Flash games and Pale Moon for Java. On my iPad I use Safari for HTML, Puffin for Flash and don’t bother with trying to get Java games as they’ll be gone soon anyway.
It’s not easy times for sure, there’s not one browser that works perfectly with every game. Good luck.

I had 2 similar, positive experiences this month— both in the games of Sol. Gardens and Mahjong Escape. I was “ranked out” in both on Marches’ completion, but finishing the 60 levels in both turned out to be a nightmare of frustration. Too many PUs were needed despite replaying over and over again. I vowed “uncle” and decided that was the end of those successful ventures. Then began the month of April and several badge challenges were released in both games. Amazingly the games were winnable and fun so I continued down -and-around the paths and enjoyed them like I did “in the good old days.” Finished both. Don’t know what will come in May. We shall see.
mspatmac says
Reading the posts of Trish,.tiggerlicious and Cindy got me thinking. You guys make great points. This year I’ll get my 16 yr badge so I’ve pretty much seen it all and hopefully see changes over the next few years too. I may vent, praise, express frustration now and then but you’ll have to pry Pogo from my dead cold hands. Reading the games that are going/gone I realized I loved many, ranked out in lots of them and enjoyed myself but time to move on.. Do I miss Dotty in Bingo, heck no, I have Poppit Bingo and Poppit party which I like, Free badges are great and since I am a HOG lover I’m happy. (wish the New Claire Heart remained a weekly, as it’s my favorite.) As Cindy mentioned, games are really clear. Loved the last marathon’s choice of games and got all 126 points.
The personalities at Pogo have changed and the communication isn’t what it should be, all I ask is be honest and upfront. If you don’t know the answer, just say so and attempt to find out. Not being negative, just making suggestions. I could keep going but the short story is I like more than I don’t. I’m in for the long haul and like the seasonal marathons, and most of the others. I have made some constructive changes to the way I play so no more stress. I gave up my second account and no longer feel the need to have every badge and complete marathons on time if I don’t want to or can’t play the games. If I ever get to the point where I am always negative it will be time to pack it in, but I don’t see that happening. As long as I have Tex and Tri Peaks I’ll always have a game to play.
One final thought, Badge Hungry and Pogo go together like peanut butter and jelly and if they were smarter, Pogo should embrace it again. Can’t have one without the other 🙂 Happy Pogo to all……….
RyzandShyn says
I agree, mspatmac . I may change what games I enjoy playing, I might change how I play (buying stuff or not buying stuff), but I can usually find a game I like playing and something I like playing for
(badges, in-game rewards). I will work to try and make Pogo better by writing about/protesting changes I think need adjustment, but I’ll continue with Pogo and (always) Badge Hungry because I have fun.

I could complain about certain changes with Pogo but instead I choose to see positives such as all the free badges, marathons, etc.
I will miss Hearts as I made many friends playing that game so that makes me feel sad.
Have a happy Sunday all!

My positive experiences lately are that I have gotten great help from Lura and Suz. You have been so helpful when I did not thing I was going to make it, you gave me the push with the “it can be done”, and then gave me a clue on what to do.
I had another problem and called the POGO help and got the nicest man and he helped me with my problem, which I should admit was my error. He explained it and I was happy.
I have played for many years and have decided I just will play for fun more than the badges and tokens. That being said, I am reward orientated so I will play a little less for awhile. I loved the Egg Hunt!!! I am not leaving pogo until it closes or I am gone…..at least that is what I am thinking for today.
Happy Sunday.

Ae you talking about the Animal Tile set in Mahjong Garden? I see two birds, one white one looks kinda like a dove, and the other is shaped like a robin but it’s a black and white tile so who knows. In the green backed tile set of Mahjong Safari there is a red cardinal.

These badges just tickle me, and I find the Super Secret badges very amusing and clever. I suppose I could make better use of my time than playing on Pogo, but I enjoy some of the games, not all, so here I shall stay for a bit.
