The Pogo Insider for February 26, 2019 is up, and here are the topics it covers:
- Marathon News: Solitaire Gardens Marathon begins Thursday. The next Magic Marathon will start at the beginning of March. The Ten-Game Marathon is still set for mid-March. And a Poppit! Bingo Single Game Badge Marathon is scheduled to begin at the end of March. Keep track of all of the upcoming marathons and other upcoming events and promos here.

- Changes to Phlinx II begin March 1st: “Progress for the February Pharaoh will be cleared. Players will be able to unlock the February boss level in the Chamber of the Past. The map will update for the March Pharaoh. There will be no time limit for the March Pharaoh and your progress will not reset at the end of the month. The logic of collecting Glyphs will remain the same.”
- The Flash version of Trizzle is now offline as of today in preparation for its upgrade/replacement to Trizzle HD on Thursday.
- Sweet Tooth Town will be “arriving shortly”.
- Pogo Daily Sudoku will be coming in March.
- Interview with Pogo Terry and Pogo John about the two games that will be released this week: Sweet Tooth Town and Trizzle HD.
- Question for Pogo: What are the most popular games on Pogo? Answer: “Poppit! Bingo, Jet Set Solitaire, Quinn’s Aquarium, Tri-Peaks Solitaire, and Crossword Cove”.

I guess “Greaser” was too unpc. But, “Cool Cat” sounds more like the Canasta beatnik than a 50’s greaser. Maybe call him “Hot Rodder” as he has his car keys. 🏎
My head is going to explode with all these marathons coming up. 😫 💥

I was thinking the same thing JayArvee. Cool Cat doesn’t really suit.
I feel the same about the Marathons. They are coming too fast. I appreciate all the free badges and the Marathons but we are getting them like there is no tomorrow. lol They would want to slow down a bit.

I thought for sure I read that the new Trizzle would be on Thursday… so I bought some PCs so I could finish it before then. I must of missed it that, YES… it would be on Thursday…but they would take it offline early. Not happy with that. I worked my butt off to get 5 of them done. I had 6 to do! That will never get done now. My own fault I guess. Blah!

The games listed for most popular games are not peoples favorites, they are what Pogo is trying to shove on us by putting them more often in the marathons. Not the games most people like!

I actually always look at the games A-Z category to see what people are playing. Of course on Wednesday it is always the challenges, but most other days I see Quinns, Solitaire Garden, Poppit Bingo, Canasta and Mahjong Garden numbers are huge. I really don’t think Pogo is speaking incorrectly. Just my humble opinion of course.

I think it all depends on what “popular games” means.
For me a popular game is one that has lots of players because they Like the game and play for fun.
To base the popularity of a game on “how many players are playing it right now” is not indicative.
One should ask why is there so many people playing this or that game?
Is like when is badge wednesday, the 2 featured games will have lots and lots of players that week and then the next week the amount of players will descrease.
IMHO those games are not the most popular but only the ones that has lots of badges, some of them extra long badges. Lots and lots of “free” baddges players have been receiving for marathons and other. Remember not everyone get them all done by the first “deadline” but work on them later at their own pace.
I wonder how many people would be playing those games if there wasn’t so many badges, long marathons badges too, if it wasn’t for all the free badges we get.
There are many players is those so called “Popular games” (not) because badges are popular, not the games!
I think this is why we get so many “freebies”, somehow they have to prove to the high-commands that people are playing the “new” games.
Better look at how many people are playing the Java games that haven’t had badges in years, of any kind. I guess 99% of the players in this games are really playing for fun and because they love the games.

Why do any of us play any of the games at any given time? I would much rather play for fun and stress relief, not to obtain more stress. I know some people suffer through doing badges even for games they hate, gritting their teeth and readying their complaints all while playing. I do play for badges in some games I don’t love but I wouldn’t play some games I hate even if you paid me, lol. I do play games I love even if there are no badges in that game at the time. I’ve been finishing Sol Gardens, I’ve been going back in JA and trying to get 3 stars and I play Jungle Gin though there hasn’t been a badge in that for ages. I also play Quinn’s just for fun, trying to advance,.Two reasons I like it is the pleasing graphics of the puzzles and I love the aquarium sounds, I find them soothing. 🙂
According to Webster
Definition of popular
1 : of or relating to the general public
2 : suitable to the majority
3 : frequently encountered or widely accepted
4 : commonly liked or approved
What means does Pogo have to identify popular other than the numbers of those playing. Sure, there are lots of comments and complaints in their Forums but as we all know, those who are unhappy comment a lot more than those who are happy.
I still say that the top 5 games played are basically the same 5, 6 or 7 games every time I look at the main page, weeklies being the exception.

That’s going to be lots of marathons in March… at least, Phlinx II will not have to be completed by March 30, that’s a bit of a relief.
I chuckled at their list of most popular games. I wonder how much of that is the true popularity vs. the challenges that were happening when did the measurements!
I did as Pogo Llama about unrealistic pop goals in Poppit Party – let’s see what she says.

Can’t wait for Poppit Bingo Marathon! They need 1 in Poppit Party also. I’ll have to suggest it and hope they schedule it.

I cannot believe QA is listed as one of the most popular. I cannot stand that game nor do I know anyone who likes the game. They must be getting their info from the people who work at Pogo.
Cindy4764 says
I can believe it. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. On any given day that doesn’t have a marathon running you look at the main page and QA will have the most people playing it or at least be near the top. Right now 4406 people are playing, just behind Sol Gardens which has 4694. Third is Canasta at 2947.the top 5 will change depending on marathons, weeklies, GOTM etc. but Quinln’s is always right in there near the top.
I like it a lot and while it can be frustrating from time lot tome so can SG, ME and especially Jet Set
Chris says
There was a Quinn’s badge this week… so people are prob still trying to win that.
GreenT says
You’re not wrong. As much as I despise it, my daughter can’t wait to get to playing it on my account when she comes home from college on breaks. I guess when you’re not overloaded with all the other challenges cluttering your to-do list, then I guess I kinda get it.
Trish says
I actually enjoy QA,. It’s nice to play a game that’s not a slam dunk to win. If I don’t finish a board in three or four tries, I play something else and go back to it later. No rush.
Personally, I hate all the spelling games – Boggle, Scrabble, Way with Words, etc., yet they are very popular with other players.
Everyone has their favorites, and no one is going to like every single game on Pogo. (at least I don’t think so).
vpb2001 says
I notice that their “favorites” do not include any games that give tokens. My faves are Boggle Bash, Scrabble, Pinochle, Canasta and Jungle Gin
Lizz says
I hate the thought of poppit Bingo marathon. When it was a Wednesday Challenge it was hard to play because most people hit the bingos until the end so you could not get many. They did not know they don’t count after the first 3 and you may as well wait until the end to get them.

Farewell Greaser, we hardly knew ye!

What’s up with a marathon every other week… that is getting to be a bit insane… maybe one a month or every other month… I don’t mind the free badges but the games they gives r the same and get annoying to play… and the ones that r one game r the worse… make them multiple games! I just might end up start not doing them all in the first week.
Lizz says
I am looking forward to the daily Sudoku coming this month. I know we wont get tokens but I find that game relaxing and not as frustrating as some, but still a challenge.
