Pogo Games August 28, 2018

Double Deuce Poker HD (thumbnail)Double Deuce Poker HD is now available for all of Pogo to play! In this rapid-fire casino-style video poker game, you will be creating winning hands to earn Chips.

Double Deuce Poker HD has 50 ranks and 5 rank badges that you can earn as you play (at ranks 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50).

Double Deuce Poker HD Screenshot

This game completely replaces the original Double Deuce Poker that was in Java. According to Pogo:

  • The game will have the same URL, but you’ll need to re-save the upgraded game to your Favorites List.
  • All unfinished, activated Badges from the Java version of Double Deuce Poker will be auto-awarded to your account on a date yet to be determined.
  • All Badges purchased (both activated and not activated) for the Java Double Deuce Poker will be auto-awarded to your account on another date yet to be determined.
  • Because this is a new version of the game, it will come with Rank Badges. Whereas the Java version of Double Deuce Poker did not have Rank Badges, the new HD version will.

Note: this game uses Chips as a currency. You get 2,000 to start. According to Pogo_Llama, “There is not a certain amount you’ll get daily, like in Poppit! Bingo. What’ll happen is each player will start out with 500 chips and when/if they reach 5, another 500 will automatically refresh into the account. Now, if a player goes over the 500 chips, they will, of course, be able to keep that. There will also be ways to win more chips in the game.”

Go ahead and play this new, updated Double Deuce Poker HD, then come back and share your reactions and your tips for ranking up, earning badges, and more in a comment below. Thanks!

I started off with 2,000 – not 500 as above.
I got 700 more pretty quickly – within 15 minutes of playing.
The game played smooth – but I thought rather slow.

I will play it for badges as I did the other version. It never was good at payouts. I didn’t like that after a few hands it takes you to another screen to hit continue.

I agree with the first 2 comments, plays a little on the slow side and do not like the badge progress screen that pops up. That should only come up if you have a challenge going.

My question is what happens if you run out of coins???

the rank badges are very different from the other HD games. They aren’t numbers this time.. So I give it a thumbs up for some creativity

Haven’t tried it yet but those rank badges are way cool. Especially the first and last ones. So, my goal is set b/c I want the badges. lol

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t the deuce wild in the original game besides paying double.

Hard to rank up if you can’t get straights or flushes unless the straight only goes to a six or the flush is the same suit as the deuce.

    • Catherine L says

      August 28, 2018 at 1:12 pm

The deuce was never a wild. In the original game the deuce was double points for each one you got on a winning hand. Each deuce was x2 so if you got two of them, then your winning cards would be x4 etc

    • MomsBassetHound says

      August 28, 2018 at 1:14 pm

No, the deuce was never wild in the java game. Nor is it wild in a real casino. It was my favorite machine to play and hit a little over $47,000 once for getting the 4 deuces and a wild card 🙂

bryanjul you may be thinking of High Stake Poker. The deuce is wild in that game.

Been playing the game for a bit now. It’s not quite as fast-paced as the original game was, but it’s ok. I don’t like the badge progress screen popping up when I don’t have any badges activated, and I don’t necessarily need to see my rank progress after every hand (Can see it in stats anyway)… but the game itself is fine, like the original, and I like the rank badges in this.

Haven’t tried it yet but first I have one little question.
Was this game scheduled for release this week/today?
I mean, I knew it was comming but don’t remember reading it was this week but it’s true that with so many changes and stuff going on is hard for me to keep up

I like the game but I do not like the badge progress screen popping up nor do I enjoy the rank progress coming up all that much, just slows things down- Game play is a little slow but it’s not as bad as some others

  12. mspatmac says

    August 28, 2018 at 1:08 pm

Played for a bit and agree it plays slow, not fast paced enough for me. I’d rather lose my chips quickly than drag it out LOL. I swear I would have more luck at a fixed machine in Vegas than I had in this game today. Will play for badges but not for ranks.

  15. Lura says

    August 28, 2018 at 1:26 pm

So as you can see on the ranks table, your progress is calculated by points. So far I have figured out that the game assigns different point values to different winning hands.

Jacks or Better = 2 points
    2 Pair = 4 points
    3 of a Kind = 8 points

    • Caren says

      August 28, 2018 at 1:33 pm

      I think they keep doubling. I got 4 of a kind = 128 points

I’m not sure if the 2’s matter.

      • Lura says

        August 28, 2018 at 1:44 pm

That’s my theory too but I haven’t been lucky enough to test it. 🙂

And you’re right, the 2’s do not matter.

    • Lura says

      August 28, 2018 at 1:40 pm

Unless you really care about your chip total: given that you have nothing to lose in this game (Llama said the house would replenish your chips if you get too low), and rank points are based on what kind of winning hand you have and the deuces have absolutely no bearing on rank points, it seems like there’s no point to even bother with holding any deuces unless they happen to be part of a hand you’re holding anyway.

      • J says

        August 28, 2018 at 10:23 pm

I’m not sure if this is what you’re trying to figure out. As it has always been in this game, points (chips) you win are not only based on the winning hand, but also how much you bet ie. the winning table. As near as I can tell, if you bet the highest, that point/chip total is what goes toward ranks, not the total coins you’ve won (on the bottom of the screen)

        So 3 of a Kind with 1 bet =3 points/chips, but a 5 bet =15 toward points/chips.

Keeping/winning with a 2 on the board, not necessarily a part of the winning hand, doubles your winnings, which is great if you’re trying to build your chips. Have a winning hand, with more than one 2 on board or part of the winning hand, again gives you twice/or 2 double of what you’ve won.

        • Lura says

          August 28, 2018 at 10:33 pm

I’m not talking about accumulating chips. I’m talking about earning points toward rank progress. The amount of chips you win doesn’t have anything to do with the points you earn toward rank progress. The points are based on what kind of hand you won with.

I’ve updated the ranks page to show the rank points per winning hand now, if that clears it up at all.

Boring as all get out for me. I never liked the original.
Rank seemed really high. Over 200 just to go from 0-1.
Not lucky so it’s NOT fun lol. Only get rank pt’s. on a win.
I heard the badges are really cute. But working on Pparty.
A few other things. I’ll keep this on the back burner.
So many games so lil time lol.

  17. Cindy4764 says

Frankly it’s pretty boring for me too. I didn’t play the other one much and I don’t think I’ll be playing this one much either, probably just for free badges. I played (in two sessions) until I got to rank 2 and ended up with 3030 chips. I had two payouts of 300 (full house with 3 of the same cards and 2 deuces) and several 120 chips with 3 deuces but most payouts were 40 or less.

And that’s another thing I don’t care for, Max Bet is 5 chips? Really? C’mon, it hardly seems worth all the clicking. I’ve always liked Blackjack Carnival because at least you can bet 250 chips.

rchvanho2, and anyone having problems with the game loading or playing excruciatingly slowly- For my system at least, Firefox has a distinct advantage over: Google Chrome, Torch, Blue Moon, and always, always IE ( which I now refuse to use at all).

If you are having lagging graphics or trouble loading, the good old Firefox with no tweaking or any setting adjustment of any type is working great on my laptop.

I got all 3 of the M and M badges in about 2 hours… ( I’m not very good in this game).
