Does anyone want to know how much I hate this new version of Claire? Pogo has managed to ruin everything I loved about it, and I no longer look forward to the Wednesday release!!
The only good thing I can say about it is that it’s better than Story Quest, and that’s not saying much.

Suz I totally agree with you…..

I agree too, The old Claire is a hundred percent better, and shouldn’t be taken off.

Debbie- They are not removing that version, just won’t be any new episodes for it

I hate the new Claire Hart. I hate everything about it. After tying it several times, I refuse to play it at again – ever..
Is it possible that Pogo could keep the old version active – new episodes, more tokens??
MomsBassetHound says
No, b/c it won’t work once Flash is no longer available. That’s why they are converting all the games.

Yes I want to know. What is it that you don’t like specifically?
MomsBassetHound says
The scenes do not look as crisp to me, not even when I’m not using the full screen option. I think there is too much story now. I don’t like having to figure out which drawer to open when looking for the gold key. Not that I use the hints, but I don’t like that others will have to pay for them. I also don’t like that we no longer get tokens for playing the game, doesn’t matter that I have enough to last me 2 lifetimes.

Agree. Clearly, the items are not as well defined, not drawn with the same precise definition, as the original version. The colors are not as varied or vibrant/bright/saturated as the original version. Even on full screen the scene is cluttered and items are too tiny to be recognized/found readily.
While it was difficult to follow the story on the old version, what with those one-liners that didn’t always connect well to the other one-liners, this version has too much story to read.
And what a story! Troy? Accused of murder? I think not – it’s kind of like when a TV show has it’s “jumped the shark” moment.
FADEDWILDROSE says
The drawer (or safe) to open will at some point have a glowing border similar to the border of the free hint circle. So just keep your minds eye alert for that glow in any scene which has a drawer or safe.

I always try to find the special items, in any HOG, before I do the list. That way I know I won’t forget 🙂
Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I know I complain about things too and I think it sometimes helps to be specific.
I am in 1000% agreement about the tokens – for all the games that don’t have them. If they were going to do something else, it should have been ready before hand.
I find the graphics fine. It might be that there is more of a purple theme that makes it seem not as vibrant.
The key bit is annoying. It would be nice to know that something has to be opened. I don’t think adding this feature was a benefit.
I personally like the story. One of the things I liked about Claire. Sort of like a Nancy Drew novelette. I don’t like how the text fades in and then you have to click another time to get all of the text. Putting more of the story in the Journal is a good idea so that people who don’t care about much of it can skip reading that part.
The full screen feature clearly has some bugs in it and the naming of some of the pieces to find is a problem (like Depressors vs Tongue Depressors). It also seems some items have been put in illogical places. One of the things I liked about CH, if you were looking for something, it was in a reasonable place not a banana on the ceiling. This one now seems to violate that by putting some things in the wrong place.
This version is certainly not as clean as the old version. I am finding this to be true of all the HTML5 games. Either the language doesn’t allow programmers to do certain things or the programmers they have are not as versed in HTML5 or both. Either way the one thing I like is that Pogo_Rachael is at least working with us players and seems open to making some of the changes. That is most definitely a first I have seen. Wish all games had a champion that would work with the community.

I absolutely hate the new version. I used to look forward to the release of Claire Hart every Wednesday, not any more. Will not be buying this.

I agree with all of you. I can do the new one, but it pales in comparison to the original. I will definately miss the old one. Guess Pogo has never heard the expression, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!” Instead of revamping games that are great, Pogo should just create some terrific new ones.
MomsBassetHound says
But they have to or there will be no games in less than 2 years when Java & Flash are gone from the internet.

I can’t see well enough to know exactly what’s been changed. People look angrier and move in and out of place in a line when they’re talking. Also, the graphics for the speaking parts is broken up into awkward ” bubbles”.
Is there any other difference? I have always played in full screen with sound off, and until recently, didn’t read the dialogue very often at all because it was hectic to see the words and find the objects in the small windows. Now it seems they have 3 times the dialogue but it could just be that I’m now reading it?
