Wanderland is a Hidden Object PC game from Big Fish where you can visit popular fairy tales and fix the broken stories. The gameplay itself involves finding objects, collecting items, and completing quests. However, it’s also a game that has a lot to keep track of, so it may be overwhelming at first. Naturally you’ll easily figure out what you need to know as you continue to play, but here are some of the important aspects of the game that are helpful to know when you’re just starting out.
Hidden Object scenes are the core of Wanderland. Some scenes give you words, like “banana” or “gloves”, while others, like the one below, instead display silhouettes of the required items. You can gain extra points by finding multiple items in a short amount of time, before the bar on the top-left runs out. There are also some power-ups displayed on the bottom-right, which can give you a boost in difficult situations. Each time you attempt a scene, you use some Energy, which regenerates over time and when you level up.
While Hidden Object scenes represent the main gameplay in Wanderland, the goal of solving those scenes is to complete quests and earn rewards. Quest screens display background on the quest along with what you have to do to complete it. If you’re ever stuck, click on a quest on the left side of the game’s main map to open up its quest screen and figure out how to move forward.
Once you’re on the quest screen, if you click on the magnifying glass, the game will direct you to the quest’s objective. For example, in the “Forest Seal” quest shown below, clicking the magnifying glass will show the location of the first “Forest portal image part”. Most quests involve acquiring items and taking them to a specific person or place. These items are found as rewards from certain scenes, so you can rely on the magnifying glass to tell you which location contains the item you need.
Currency and Items
The two currencies in Wanderland are Rubies and Coins. You can see how many of each you currently have in the top-right corner, and purchase more by clicking the plus sign. Both Rubies and Coins can also be earned by completing Hidden Object scenes and quests. Rubies and Coins have a variety of uses, from buying items to unlocking new areas. To buy items, click on the shop icon on the bottom-right—it’s the one with the basket. There are many types of items to buy, and it can be hard to know how to spend your hard-earned Coins and Rubies. If you frequently find yourself running out of Energy to complete quests and do scenes, take a look at the Energy tab on the left of the Shop. Otherwise, check out the Hints and Timers tab for help with difficult scenes.
Another unique aspect of Wanderland is the process of completing Collections. A Collection is a set of items; when you have every item in the set, you can trade them in for a reward. The Collections panel is next to the Shop panel in the lower-right. Click on it to find out what Collections you’re close to completing and what items you need to finish them—it’s a great way to earn more rewards!
Hopefully that’s enough to get you started on your way through Wanderland, but there’s also a lot more to the game, so please let us know in the comments if you have any additional tips to share.
