Bush Whacker 2 is a free-to-play online game that will keep you playing with its addictive mix of solving puzzles, collecting loot, and — yes — whacking bushes. It sounds simple, but there’s more going on than meets the eye, and if you want to be successful, there are a few things you should know from the beginning.
One of the best things about Bush Whacker 2 is the level of community involvement. When you launch the game, one of the first things you’ll notice is “Bush Whacker 2 Chat” on the right of the game screen. That’s right: everyone who’s playing the game can send messages at any time. The chat is often very helpful, and the game’s regulars seem like a very outgoing group. If you ever have any questions about the game or just want to talk, make sure to use the chat feature!
The gameplay in Bush Whacker 2 centers around whacking bushes to collect items. At the start, you’ll only be able to perform a normal whack by clicking on the individual bushes, but you’ll soon learn three other kinds: “Quick”, which saves time; “Power”, which increases the items you get from whacking; and “Mana”, which allows you to whack without using Energy.
Once you learn the different types of whacks, you can choose the type you use by clicking it in the bottom-left area of the screen.
In order to level up and generally progress in the game, you’ll need to complete tasks. Find tasks by talking to people in the world with exclamation points over their heads, like the two in the picture below. Your current tasks are shown in the top-right. In that screenshot, the player has only one task, represented by the key.
Rewards will vary from task to task, but the most important one is XP, which stands for experience. XP is represented by the purple bar in the top-left, and the number on the left is your current level. XP measures how close you are to leveling up, so when the purple bar fills up, your level will go up by one and your XP will go back to zero, waiting for you to start your progress to the next level. When you level up, your Energy will refill and your total Energy will increase.
Currency and Upgrades
There are two currencies in Bush Whacker 2: Gold and Bush Bucks. You can see how much you have of each in the bottom-right corner of the game: Gold is represented by the coin, and Bush Bucks by the paper money. Click on the Store button right above them to purchase items, or the “Get Bucks!” button if you want to buy more Bush Bucks. Different items are purchased with different currencies.
If you want, you can spend your Bush Bucks on cosmetic items (items that are just for show) for your character, like the “Epic Stone Sword” or “Epic Laser Sword” above. However, when I asked the chat, they all agreed that it might be better to save up for Pet Sales, which happen twice a year. If you use your Bush Bucks there, you can purchase Pets, who will give you bonuses, like better chances of getting items from bushes.
Something to note: Bush Whacker 2 is a Flash game, and when you load the first time it’ll ask you to choose your storage options. The choice is up to you, just know that either choice is safe, and if you choose to store files on your hard drive it will improve loading times for you. After you confirm your choice on the Adobe Flash Storage Settings window, the game will continue to load its information screen with news, your daily reward, etc.
That should cover the basics of Bush Whacker 2, but this game is all about exploration and discovery; remember to ask the in-game chat if you have any additional questions, and let us know in the comments if you come up with any great secrets or strategies!
