The games in the bright and family-friendly Gardenscapes series have long been a favorite of many BadgeHungry readers, and I am thrilled to bring you reviews of each game from a Gardenscapes superfan as well as super-excited to be able to give away coupon codes for Big Fish Games so that five lucky readers can get their very own copy of one of these great games, or any standard version download game at the Big Fish Games web site. In addition, I’ve thrown a $20 EA Cash Card into the giveaway pool so this giveaway will have 6 winners!
Check out the reviews of each Gardenscapes game from Amanda — she’s a huge fan of the series and often plays these Gardenscapes games on her laptop when her internet is out due to storms. (No internet? No problem for these Big Fish Games!)
Below the reviews is the giveaway widget so you can enter to win one of 6 prizes: 5 coupons for a free game from Big Fish Games and one winner will receive a $20 EA Cash Card that can be redeemed for 275 Gems or a 3-month Club Pogo subscription. Thanks for reading, and good luck!
If you want to relax and unwind with a beautiful game, while having your own special tailored options, Gardenscapes fills the bill. This pretty hidden object game is a sort of virtual indoor gardening and many indoor rummage sales. The object of the game is to raise money through selling miscellaneous items found in your new mansion to decorate the grounds and gardens of a mansion you’ve inherited. You have up to 9 hints for each room if you get “stuck”. The game is full of color, lovely music, no jarring elements, and is very relaxing.
You will have 3 choices of each decorative element that is put in the garden, and you can change the items as you wish. This ranges from flowers, ponds, bridges over the pond, fencing, house paint color, porches, walkway material – many pretty things.
Gardenscapes: Mansion Makeover™
This game takes up where the first game left off in many ways. The house is shown with a nice garden, yes, but it is NOT the same house, nor are the rooms the same rooms. So, it’s not repetitive. You will be searching for items to sell to make money to renovate your mansion’s main hall and major interior décor throughout many rooms. There are 60 unique items for interior design, an original very pretty and relaxing soundtrack, the choice of relaxed or timed mode, and the choice to use sparkles as added hints if you want them. There are also other hints available in every room, in every scene.
There will be a few unexpected challenges along the way, all easy and fun, and while the story is long, it is easy to stop and pick right back up easily.
Despite the name, this game is not a pure continuation of the others. There’s a new twist as you and your trusty butler/gardener Austin travel to his childhood home, where his parents still live. Your challenge in this pretty game is to restore the home’s garden, again through both rummage sales in the hidden objects in the many rooms, as well as doing a few household repairs. Therefore, this is not a pure HOG game, there is some combining of objects in some scenes. The goals are easily accomplished, and there are many hints available in each HOG scene.
This game has another distinction from the other two: There are in game Achievement awards which you will earn. You can get a good look at them when you start playing so you can focus on certain tasks if you want to do so.
Like the other Gardenscapes editions, this one also has a huge house with many rooms and objects to find and sell to repair and upgrade the gardens and part of the exterior of the house as you wish, a relaxed or challenging timed mode, pretty graphics and music, and an optional screensaver featuring an overview of the grounds you are creating.
