For those of you who have been around a while, you know I have always had a warm spot in my heart for Big Fish Games. All of their games have a free trial with one hour of unrestricted play, their game catalog is immense, and if anything happens to go wrong, their customer support is top-notch.
There are 60 games on Big Fish Games’ Customer Favorites page spread across 20 different categories and genres, and here are a few you might want to check out with Big Fish Games’ one-hour free trial:
If you’ve never played a Clutter game, Clutter VI: Leigh’s Story is definitely worth giving a shot. This series of games is created by indie game developer “Games by Joe”, which makes it easy to overlook the somewhat rudimentary graphics. It’s a puzzle slash hidden object slash matching game unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. The puzzles require you to make matches of two of the same items, halves of the same item, and more. These hidden object-type levels are interspersed with sliders and other puzzles as you progress through the game. Finding the matches can become really challenging, especially when you’ve got only 2 or 3 matches left. At first, I thought I could be satisfied playing just up to the 1-hour free trial time limit, but after it ended I couldn’t stop thinking about its unique gameplay and just had to have more.
The game of the year for 2016 was predictably Mystery Case Files: Broken Hour — I did a introductory post when it first came out as a Collector’s Edition, but now it’s available in a less-expensive standard version as well. The 14 games in the Mystery Case File series are HOPAs — or “hidden object puzzle adventure” games. They do not disappoint, and this one is no exception. With an intriguing storyline, compelling characters, and puzzles that will keep you guessing, Broken Hour is a game you won’t want to miss.
I can’t end the review portion of this post without quickly recommending two other games I’ve enjoyed this year that also made the Customer Favorites list: Laruaville 5, a match-3 game with a building twist; and Christmas Wonderland 7, a hidden object game that is fun and family-friendly (my 7-year-old loved it).
