Pogo has rolled out a new feature today, allowing players to add time to their premium badges. The cost is 2 Gems per day, up to 3 days. You can see this feature on any activated Mix-n-Match or Premium Badge Album badge, from the game’s page and challenge tab. Click the green plus to add more time when you need it. Here’s an example:
Will you use this new feature? Share your thoughts in a comment below.

Yes,I will be using this feature because sum times games are down that i am doing badge in an u can not play, also times when u have only a few left to get the badge an u cant get in game for whatever reason or u may not be able to be on to finish your badge in time.its very aggravating when u only need a few to get the badge an time runs out on you that makes ppl not even want to reset the badge cause u work so hard an then have to reset…thanks pogo π
CJTNOKC says
Me too! I WILL use it!
Faith says
No, I will never use it! I have never needed extra time to complete a badge.
Blysse says
Interesting.
Never gonna use it–I earn all badges as quickly as I possibly can and can count on one hand how often I’ve run out of time in my entire time on Pogo. But interesting.
mary - mcrqpp says
Why would you use this feature and pay gems for it when you can reactivate the same badge if your time runs out No I wouldn’t use it
Lilmom says
Nope… No way!
oandria says
i will not use it
rchvanho2 says
will use it NEVER.. maybe some ill ..i have always earned my badges in time given
Brenda M. says
I probably won’t use it, unless my circumstance prevent me from playing when I want to.
Have fun, everyone! π
ally says
I saw this, this morning when I went to work on my Mahjong Escape badge…nice option, but as of right now, I have no plans to use it
Catherine L says
The time Pogo gives us to do badges is more then enough. I always have them done in less then half that time anyway. This is another way for Pogo to make money. I have all the time in the world to do what I have to do on Pogo.
Good luck to those who use this feature if they don’t have as much time as some of us to be on Pogo.
Barb says
Never ever will I use this
Jay says
It’s been awhile since I bought any premium badges, so I’m not sure if they still have really short challenges like those lasting one day. I remember those challenges that had time limits of an hour or less. It’s not like that extra time is really needed. An extra day to those would be too easy.
I wouldn’t do it. But I guess they are looking for more ways to make money just like the Facebook and phone games do.
grameeh says
I will not use it.
Karenkisses21 says
I never will use this at all!…….blessings……………………..
Sandy says
Just used it. Forgot about a Gin challenge and I’m almost done but now I don’t have to worry about it…….so Thank You Pogo. Normally, I always get challenges done very quickly but I messed up and didn’t want to have to win 25 @ 500 points more Gin games.
mspatmac says
In your situation Sandy, I would have used it too! Nice to have in your back pocket just in case life throws you a curve ball and you need an extra day. Can’t imagine doing that gin badge over when your so close to finishing.
Stephie says
I hope no one uses this option because it gives them incentive to make every game more difficult to get into. I will never use this option. All badges can just be reactivated, just don’t see a need for it.
PlusJenney says
I think this is a great option. I don’t PLAN to use it ever, but you never know — I think it could come in very handy if someday in the future I work on a really long badge and then something in real life demands I step away from Pogo for a few days. Spending just a few gems sure beats restarting a very hard badge that I am oh-so-close to finishing.
bonstance41 says
I agree with you, Jenny. I don’t plan to use it, but I can see that it could come in handy some time.
Bonnie
sewlution10 says
I will never use it. I always get the badges done with more than enough spare time left. If I’m going to be busy I just don’t activate it until I know I’ll have the time. Pogo charges for enough as it is (powerups etc) I’m not giving them more.
Nancy V says
I will not use it, POGO already has become too expensive and it would be a waste of gems because I can finish a badge 99.9% of the time. Otherwise I would just reactivate it and try again to finish it. It’s just another way for POGO to generate more money from its players!
Ban says
I rarely buy Premium badges to begin with (or gems) anymore, but this is a nice option for those who are extremely busy! π Doubt this will be a hit though (i’m expecting they hope to make gem sales off this, but just don’t see it.l) as most people either don’t buy premium badges, or can get them done in the allotted time.
sandy says
it’s a nice feature in certain situations as others have mentioned. I can see someone using it when they are very close to finishing a horrendous badge because having to start over is dreadful. Personally I would never use it.
jhazeleyes says
No, I need to, I will reactivate it.
Ed says
Clear sign that we will start to see lots of long, arduous badges
jigsawing says
My thoughts exactly. Scary stuff.
lindajean19471 says
That is what I was thinking too. Hope we are wrong, but I finish my badges within the day I start them or two days at best so something is up here since we can always re-activate it. Or maybe a plan to not allow re-activation without gems sometime in the future? At any rate, best of luck to those who do use it and I hope I never do….but Pogo seems intent on getting money at every turn and I already buy the largest gem package each month now trying to catch up on four years of HOG and mix and match badges from when I could not be on Pogo at all.
Pittsteelerfanp says
NO,I will never use it..
Flaricka says
No. Not ever. Not even if they start making badges more difficult to do within the timeframe allowed to force the issue. I’ll just reactivate as necessary. I buy all the challenges, but i never buy powerups and I won’t buy time.
With all the badges Pogo swamps us with, I quickly realized my retirement time could be easily wasted behind a computer all day … and life is simply too precious not to be living it.. So now I do my daily quota in the morning and evenings, then turn it off and live in the real world. When I die It won’t matter whether I have 10 badges or 10,000. I refuse to make a badge so critically important I need to pay them extra money just to avoid having to replay the challenge. I mean, the purpose of my Pogo time is to PLAY POGO.
Pattypooh666 says
Doubt I’ll use it. I spend enough gems as is. Sorry but I think pogo wasted their time on this one and if that’s what has been causing our recent issues, well come on pogo. Stop doing new stuff & work on what’s already there & not working so well i.e. pogo booting people out of game all the time, games not loading, need I say more.
Pam says
It is always nice to have options. I never say never, that is when I seem to do it. LOL
Hels says
It’s a nice option to have. I don’t think I will use it – I have only had to reactive a badge a couple times… but it’s nice to have in case something happens when I am in the middle of working on a challenge that severely limits my computer time. It has happened before.
Madeforlovingguy says
I have to agree with the others about not using it, but I don’t feel it was a complete waste of time, 2 gems for an extra day is hardly a lot. I rarely have to reactivate a badge but I know recently I was unable to complete an extremely arduous badge in hog heaven requiring 10 spins. They rarely ever appear and I lost track of the hours I spent in this game. I got all the way up to 9/10 and the time ran out, an extra day would have meant getting the badge rather than it now being sat there as I can’t face doing it all over again.
Mozartjea says
No, I will never use it.
I think it’s a creative new way for Pogo to make revenue because there will be plenty of players that will partake of this feature. I don’t believe Pogo has any sinister plans to make challenges longer or more difficult just to force people into buying time.
Pogo started that b.s. because soooo many players were crying that challenges were just to easy (time wise) for the amount of gems they paid for the premium challenges. Pogo is a business enterprise and will continue to innovate new ways to grow their profits. That is good business sense.
Players can just choose where they spend their hard earned bucks as in any purchase whether it be on Pogo or elsewhere. Way to go Pogo! Continuous growing profits helps keep a business going and I want Pogo to remain in existence.
Those that will partake of this feature for whatever reason… Bless you.
Julia π
SandyH says
VERY well said Mozartjea!!! I agree with you 100 %. I have no intention of purchasing gems in order to use this new feature. If Pogo had to live on the amount of gems that I purchase, I’m afraid they would go under real quick.
CanadianKat says
Absolutely not !
tweetweety says
n e v e r…. will never use it.
aslls11 says
I have completed close to 4,000 badges and I can count on one hand the number of badges that I had to reactivate to complete. However, there have been a few really arduous badges that I would pay to get an extra day or so to complete, so I won’t say never.
However, I am also afraid that Pogo will make their badges a lot harder so people will feel compelled to buy the extra time. That would take all the fun out of the badges.
onelinda91 says
not going to happen
Sharon says
I think there may be times it could be useful. I can think of struggling to get strikes in bowling or winning OK gin against bots instead of willing friends. 2 gems per day is not a huge amount.
Don’t see myself using it but it might persuade me to buy a badge that felt tortuous or iffy to complete if I knew that was an option.
TomT says
There’s only one time that I might have used this option when I worked on the Worlds Biggest Coffee Cup Badge in DCR where you have to clear 30 5-of-a-kind cards in only 5 hours. I used the usual technique of waiting until the end of the first game to activate it to maximize the time available and I still barely managed to get it with minutes left on it. If the dice weren’t lucky on the last game it would have been nice to spend only 2 gems to extend it, but apart from that badge every other badge comes with plenty of time to reach the goal, IMO so I don’t think I’ll be using this new option.
– Tom
lurking says
I’m so with you Tom on that badge. I have been looking & looking at it thinking when am I going to get 5 hours to just sit & do it without human or cat interruption. Most badges can be completed in the time allocation, but sometimes ‘things happen’ & I have just got there by the skin of my teeth. So yes I can see myself using it once in a while.
MT says
I doubt I will ever use this, but who knows? I am just happy Pogo is not raising the Club price. π
Captiva007Pl says
Nope, I don’t need it, and won’t ever use it.
Miladylc56 says
I will not use it that for sure
Had the gems so I bought 3 power up to finish a badge in Mahjong Escape
Pogo took the gems as always, then they charged My Card $1.00 for each power up
that shocked me
MomsBassetHound says
If you already had gems there shouldn’t have been any reason for them to charge your card anything. I would contact customer service.
Suz
Miladylc56 says
Suz
I did contact them
I got the Normal Run around you get from Costumer Service
I do not see that on our end,I told them it showed the Right info from Pogo/EA
on my Bank statement , $3.00 was not worth the fight
ccboots56 says
I think most of us finish badges quickly enough that we will not need it.
I am one of the slowest in badges, but still get them finished or let them
expire but I am no where near finishing the badge.
It would be handy if
you have only one or two wins to get and time expires. I have not had
that problem. Another thing I see is when changes are made in Pogo,
problems occur. The kinks will need to be worked out and sometimes
never are.
Lucy13Hu7 says
Yes, I willl use it. Thanks, Pogo!
LisaMarie says
I complete my badges well within the required time, so I will not use this feature.
PrairiesDweller says
I could see myself using this. For long badges I usually take my time and spread out my playing over days or weeks. Right now I am working on Mahjong Garden – 12 birthdays in 21 days. I don’t plan to but may need extra time. I definitely see myself buying extra days for the Poppit – drop 10,000 gifts in 14 days badge. That is if I ever activate it! ;-)))
Someone mentioned the 5 minute badges. So I checked it out. Activated the badge, played for 30 seconds then went to the homepage. Lo and behold I could buy extra DAYS at 2 gems per day. (I decided not to buy days and finished the badge in time! :-D)
RyzandShyn says
Thank for investigating this and reporting back.
I was wondering if that scenario would work or not.
I have that pesky Phlinx badge: Make 250 groups of 5 or more stones fall to the ground in 2 hours! sitting around undone, and could then easily buy my way into getting it done – but what’s the fun in that?
I also have a pesky Sweet Tooth to get 150 in a jp spin X# of times that I’ve reactivated so many times I finally decided to give it up. Maybe if I bought 6 months worth of time I could get it finally….LOL.
ccboots56 says
For your badge in sweet tooth, play in the classic mode, you will have
better luck at 150 spin then if you play in caramel mode.
Tobyes says
Don’t think I will ever use it…I know it is a business but this past year has been brutal with all the changes. Seems to me there are more and more ways to spend gems. Parlor games coins, powers ups, which I don’t buy either, many do however which means it will continue as long as there’s a market. Hopefully it keeps the subscription price down.
vrymoody71 says
OH my word, my hubby and I had to laugh at this new feature. Buying power-ups for a game is one thing, extra time is another. We both said that we would just re-activate the badge if we forgot about it. I think pogo is getting very inventive on ways for people to spend their gems. I just hope people won’t take advantage of the feature.
Sarah says
Just another way for pogo to earn money. I will not use the option.
RyzandShyn says
No, I won’t use it.
I hope this doesn’t mean that they will cut down on the amount of time they give us to get PBA and M&M badges in order to try and force us to use it. Tricky Rabbits.
I am glad it’s available for those players who have a reason to buy extra time.
azcanadienne says
Will NEVER use it! I’ve never run out of time in getting a badge, and usually get them done within a couple of days
The only instance I could see “needing” it, is if Pogo deliberately issued a badge for a game I do daily (Trivial Pursuit, Crossword Cove) that required more games than the time they allotted to get it done (i.e. complete 30 new games of Trivial Pursuit in three weeks) – and if they did that…pretty sure there’d be screaming and shrieking galore!
lildevilswimmer4 says
If a badge is supposed to be completed in 5 minutes or 20 minutes will you still be able to add time to it? And I don’t mean that you only have 20 minutes left in a 2 week badge but only 20 minutes to complete the whole badge. Aka the quickie casino PBA’s or others.
ccboots56 says
I just checked this one out, and it would have added one day to a 5 minute badge
if I had bought it.
It has been found out that on other badges such as the Power Stone badge in Phlnix
that is to drop 250 matches of 5 stones or more drop in 2 hours, It adds a day to the
challenge. Defeats the purpose of that challenge, IMO.
I posted before there could be kinks in this change, this is one of them.
MomsBassetHound says
I told gb the same thing b/c Pogo is going to have to fix it, or the masses will start screaming π
Suz
afriend says
I think some of the badges are long and difficult now. I sure
hope they don’t make them worse for this. But I read about
the JG one and yes I can see the need sometimes for some.
So I can’t say it’s an awful idea. Just not one that I’d ever use
UNLESS I had puter problems which face it do happen every now
and then or I forgot about a badge. Because still least a year or
more ago pogo started leaving all the badges done or undone on
our badge page. Confusing to no end. Easy to get lost in there lol.
But I’d still unless had a lot invested in it just restart it.
gbpack says
For anyone who has used this feature…Does it instantly deduct the gems, or do you have to confirm it somehow? I’m worried about hitting it by mistake & BAM..gems gone. I doubt that I’ll ever use this, but I don’t want a mistake to cost me either.
Thx in advance for any replies.

MomsBassetHound says
Someone in the forums purchased the time just to see if it added 1 day to those badges that need to be completed in a few minutes (Quickie Casino PBA) or a few hours. So I will ask her and let you know.
Suz
MomsBassetHound says
Here’s the answer I received when I emailed her……
When you click the green + button, you get a pop up with a green 2 Gems Add Time button. If you click that 2 Gems Add Time button, you’ve purchased the extra time.
And just so everyone knows….If you are doing a badge where you have to complete the challenge in a couple of hours, this will add another 24 hours to your time. So anyone who has those badges sitting around, now is the time to do them, before Pogo fixes this.
Suz
Brenda M. says
Well, at this point it’s still working. I just finished the On the Go album and used it a couple of times, but the Java games, Lottso and Dice City Roller don’t have a challenge tab, and I couldn’t figure out how to find the + button for them, but I finished them in the allotted amount of time anyway. I just thought I would pass that along. At 6 p.m. CST, it was working on that album. π
Have fun, everyone! π
lurking (auntysoim) says
I used the extra time on DCR’s Worlds Biggest Coffee Cup badge. It gave me an extra 24 hours to do the challenge. I took around 10 hours to complete through out the day. For me 2 Gems well spent. It would have been the only badge I would never have had time to do. You find the extra time link at the bottom of the badge on home page or in badge central.
afriend says
I find it too funny on pogo’s forum a thread about this feature is
locked and they won’t allow another one lol.
I can’t believe so many says it would ruin their pogo experience. Like
someone wrote there the day I care about how someone else thinks
about how I play pogo is the day I walk away or something like that lol.
This feature is great for that DCR coffee badge! I know I barely made it
but I did years ago but for peeps with it still like someone else wrote no time
like now to do that one. I think it’d be 2 gems well spent too.
Like I wrote earlier I probably won’t use but do I care it’s there nope. Never know
and like someone else wrote the price of CP hasn’t gone up lol. Of course some
could argue it has. PU’s etc. But no one says you have to buy them either.
Still haven’t bought any for the Garden and I don’t plan to either.
ccboots56 says
That thread was closed because players went off topic.
There are a couple of flaws in that extension, plain and
simple. When you can take a badge that had requirements
of a half hour or less, and turn it into a 24 hour badge that is
an drastic error in my opinion.
Jon C says
Never used it mostly
