Pogo Mini: Happy 9th, BadgeHungry!Happy Weekend Everyone!

BadgeHungry’s 9th anniversary is this weekend! I’ll have a dedicated post on Sunday about it (with something special for you too), but I just want to say thank you for being here and it’s been such a pleasure to share my love of casual games with all of you for so many years. Here’s to many, many more!

This weekend’s topic question came in from Purelyn. She was wondering how other people put together their Minis. She writes, “I always make mine as to the things that I love and enjoy doing and to let my profile picture show a big part of who I really am…” What about you?

Is your Mini a reflection of your life and things you love, or something else?

  1. I usually make my Mini up to represent how I’m feeling at the time. I change with the seasons and the holidays. Any way you look at it, it’s fun!

  2. In general, I keep them seasonal for big holidays, Summer, Winter, etc.

    I also sometimes just put cute or silly things together.

    This past June was one year since my cat passed away–I had her for 14 years, over half of my life–and I had a Mini dedicated to her for a month or so <3

    On another topic–I've [already!!] hit my badge goal for 2016. I passed 4,000 badges a few days ago 😀

    • So sorry for your loss. When you have a pet that long it’s very hard to let go. Just remember that she will be waiting for you at the bridge when your time comes.

        • Rainbow Bridge.
          I got that card form our vet when we lost our old cat! I cried a river over it. I scanned & saved it and make the cards for friends who lose their pets.

  5. My mini is often my alter-ego, and sometimes, it is just for fun, or to use a recently obtained object. It may reflect things that I like to do, or reflect a recent Amazing Mini contest. Anything goes.

  7. Happy Anniversary!!

    Normally I change my mini more than I have this summer. The reason for that is that I wanted this background for a couple of years. I asked Pogo Rachael about it in the forums and she actually got it put back in the Mini Mall this past winter. I grabbed it the day it appeared in the Mall and couldn’t wait to put it on. I have changed the goodies a couple of times, but the background is staying.

    I always change for holidays, and if I’m doing a mini show. About the only thing that is “me” is the length of my hair and the color. The rest is what I’d like to be doing 🙂

      • OOO!! Can anyone suggest some Olympic things to use? I’m trying to look but all I have are USA type things, I do so wish Pogo let us search in the mini mall!
        Would love any suggestions 🙂
        PS Moms so thought of you when I noticed Pogo had mislabeled a basset hound in the mini items and called it a beagle fan! I love “baskethounds” as friend calls hers 😉

  8. Yeah, my mini usually reflects things that I like in life. I like dressing up for the holidays and what not. I have so much stuff in my mini closet I know I will probably never use it all!
    Congrats on 9 years Lura. You and your helpers have helped me so many times I can’t even count. Found the site by looking for help on a badge and have been back daily ever since. Thank you , thank you. We all hope for many more also!

  9. Congrats on our 9th Anniversary….think I have been here with you for most of that time….time flies when you are having fun….lol

    As for the mini, I just do what comes to my mind most the time…try to make good ones for the events.

    I have been sick with complete bed rest this week so haven’t been on much.

Thank you Lura for all you for us!I’m thrilled to have been a part of this site for quite some time, love the info I can and do get from here and always check throughout the day, never know what Pogo has in store for us 😀 I change my mini depending on mood and almost always have it as a male, better stuff on that side vs the female stuff(for my taste anyhow)…I do change it to female sometimes though

    As for my mini, if I am honest I don’t put a lot of time into it and rarely change it. I am too busy badge hunting. I used to change it all the time but this past year that took a back seat.

    I love to have my mini represent my imagination a bit more than my reality LOL, So I may not have my red hair any longer but sometimes she will. I also don’t get to dress like an elf in real life unless it is Renn Faire season so there is that 😉
    I’m big fantasy sci fi reader so I think that my minis tend to reflect that or the holiday of the season!

Forgot to add onto my comment(wish we had an edit button, lol)- I am having surgery tuesday morning(hopefully that’s when it’ll be), to remove a few big kidney stones 🙁 Hopefully back home that night, please keep me in y’all’s thoughts, I’m usually not weirded out by surgeries(have had alot of ’em growing up), but this is kinda big for me

      its sure more fun than passing em, similar to childbirth.
      you’ll be fine.

      • I have a couple of staghorn stones which aren’t small, *think* he’ll go in through my back to get ’em out, but not sure- Yea, other side had stones in it(small different ones), and he blasted ’em- Hopefully that’s what he’ll end up doing…I’m more scared to find out if my kidney is going to be ok and functional, though if not my right one is functional

        • I wish you the best outcome for your surgery tigerlicious196. I know your surgery will go well. Today’s techniques are much improved. I had kidney surgery myself years ago, in the early 80’s. I have a post it note about your surgery on Tues on my monitor, I’ll keep you in my thoughts.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Lura and BADGEHUNGRY!! itseems it was just yesterday 🙂 the 1st 6-8 months I just read and then I cut loose LOl and I guess most are glad I slowed up and almost stopped, cause it was 20 “novels” every weekend, once we started being able to post!! we have had lots of growing pains but all done in “pride with success” 🙂 and have grown by leaps and bounds!! CONGRATS to you LURA!! your 1 amazing lady, mother, and friend!! just to think next year we will hit the BIG 10 🙂 WOW!! I cant wait!! celebrate, have that special bottle of wine!! you deserve it!! HUGS my friend!! have a wonderful weekend one and all and be sure and thank Lura, with out her we would still be LOST today!!   24. Congratulations, Lura, on an extraordinary achievement! So many times you have been our “LIFESAVER” in difficult Pogo times. I am positive that you and your helpers have kept Pogo Club membership as high as it is today. I hope you are as proud of BH and your success as we all are!.

    I use to spend so much time with my Mini but now, after 11 years of nearly buying the Mall out on release day, I find it too tedious and time consuming to change her very often. When I do find something pretty that I like to glance at often throughout a Pogo day, I keep it there for a loooooong time. lol

  26. Most of the time my mini is dressed like me. I usually have my great granddaughter and my dog in the picture with me. I do change up for holidays or at times just to something really silly.

  28. Congratulations on 9 years, Lura! You have become an important part of my Pogo life, and I treasure all your help and all the helpful, caring people here. I appreciate your very positive site! Here’s to many more years ahead.

    Minis are my most favorite part of Pogo. During my recent bout with cancer, I used them as the visual images of my healing journey. Now I use them for inspiration and amusement. I think Rachael is doing a wonderful job with the mini mall – the best it’s been in years. They just need a few more mini sales each year at a discount across the board. But I love the mini item rewards for playing the game of the month. Good fun!

  29. My mini usually reflects on what I’m doing in the now, or where I am. I always change it to match the holidays & seasons like many others have previously stated. I do enjoy dressing up my mini in silly ways, where else can I pretend that I’m in space? :b

    Yes alot of my minis reflect my life the things of love.
    some of them are things how i feel and generally being silly..

  32. Lura, my question is…How in the world have you put up with us for 9 years? Sounds like you’re going to be around for a long, long time.

    I like changing my mini a lot, and it does not always reflect my lifestyle nor me, but it IS fantasy after all!!! 🙂

  34. Can anyone plz explain to me what the gift is that pogo spike gave me today. It was for playing the game of the month last month, dominoes.
    Maybe Im totally missing something, but it is called domino crazy and it says the gift is a “game”……
    I thought maybe a mini background or something….but i cant find it. I searched for that and Nothing…

    Im totally confused……. haha…
    im sure its something simple that im missing……

  36. Happy Anniversary, Lura! Oh, what a wonderful world you have created in Badge Hungry and how grateful I am that you are so incredibly smart and generous. Thank you.

    As for the minis, I work everything around the “Jackie Flip” hairstyle. In real life I deal with frizzy hair, so it’s nice to dream a bit. I love to dress for the holidays and special events. Go Olympics!

    Your mini always looks great, but I love your “I Love Pogo” t-shirt the best. Is that ever available in the mini mall?

    • Someone just asked Pogo Rachael to have that t-shirt put back into the Mini Mall. It may take awhile, but it will eventually make it’s way back into the Mini Mall.

  37. Congrats on 9 years!
    I consider dressing my mini as part of my Pogo relaxing time. However, it has nothing that represents me.
    I think of it as a doll to dress and I do it this way:

    1. I use a randomizer app on my phone to pick a number from 1 – 121 (my current number of pages of mini items.)

    2. I then choose a number from 1-30 and pick that item to change or add to my mini.

    3. I then select a number from 1 – 22 and change or take off 1 item (except I never remove the item I just added for the day or remove the background. The background I just change if it comes up).

    The 22 items I count on my mini include the 5 expressions, the 5 hair colors, the 4 skin colors and the 1-8 extra items. Sometimes if I select 21 or 22 it means that I don’t have anything to take off or change so I just leave it that way until the next day. I do this step in order not to always have my mini cluttered up with stuff.

    4. Finally, I try to come up with an appropriate comment to add that matches the mini I created.

    Sometimes it takes awhile to get through all of my pages if I select a high number but I just sit back and look at the top line of mini items and enjoy. This way I get to enjoy all of the things that I have bought over the years.

    On another note, I also select a new badge to show every day by randomly picking a page and item from the badges that I have completed. This way I get to view and enjoy all of my badges, too!

    My Pogo friends tell me they check out my mini everyday as they say they make them smile.. I change my mini every couple of days, and I try to make them as “original and different” as I can. They probably are my altar ego now that I think about it…lol. My motto is “be creative”.

    My regular mini shows me on the beach, as I live in FL., with a bunch of dogs, in which I adore both. No ~ it doesn’t look quite like me at all, (I wish it did, lol), but, it shows what I love.
    Of course I have other minis for the holidays, and change them quite often when new items come out. I love to shop there when new clothing and backgrounds are available.

  46. I don’t change my mini too often, but when I do I like it to be colorful and attractive (to me) when it shows up in various games. My caption reads: Oh to be as skinny as my mini.

    Mostly have different minis set to seasons and holidays, then change them around for different times or events of the year. If I made them to reflect my or things I love, I’d be at the computer 24/7 Would love some Olympic new items — hint hint

    Off topic, Game of Month — now I have finished my game of month for July, can anyone tell me what I can be working on for August Game of the month, please. I can spend this time getting ahead a little. I looked over the Pogo tabs and couldn’t find any info about this.

I spend a lot of time on FB with petitions against animal abuse, especially in parts of Asia, and it is such a relief to come back to a culture that adores our beautiful pets! My mini is me in my teens or twenties mostly. Times I remember with great fondness. Long live Badge Hungry! Colleen

  62. I like changing mini with the seasons most of the time. other times whatever I decide at the moment.

    to get off topic for a minute I have a question…I’m doing a mahjong escape badge and have to collect 200 gold tiles. taking forever. any suggestions as to what puzzle to do that’s easy that I could keep doing till I get the badge? and what happens if I completed a country etc. will I lose my progress if I’ve already completed country? I don’t want to have to totally do one that I’ve already completed.

    that’s one game they need easy, med and difficult levels on. as I don’t want to have to pay for hints etc to win a game.

    I usually change my mini to go with the seasons. I have a Border Collie now and a Himalayan cat that I’ve had for 8 years and most of the time they are part of my mini as well.

  65. Happy Anniversary, Lura!! Wishing you many more. Thanks for all the tips and advice on so many issues with Pogo. I’ve been a daily visitor for many years, just don’t post very much.

    About the Mini, I tend to find items to reflect my life and circumstances. Sometimes, I do the holidays and seasons, but not always.

    In recent months I have been having major computer problems with Pogo…unknown if its my ISP connection (recently bought out by new company…sad face) or if a Windows conflict. Don’t seem to have any problems anywhere else on the net, just Pogo. Continual problem making connections to load programs and to stay connected until a game finishes. So very frustrating!! It’s increasingly hard to get badges completed and even play in tournament.

    But wishing you all the best on your adventures with BadgeHungry!

    I think I found BadgeHungry within the first year of discovering badges in August 2009 (so my 7-year Club Pogo anniversary should be right around this weekend or next weekend too). 🙂
