Note that several of these challenges have changed since they were first announced. Luckily we won’t be slogging through Ali Baba Slots for hours on end trying to get those blue sapphires 10 times, it’s been reduced to two. Compare that challenge and others with the sneak peek from a few weeks ago.

What I don’t understand is why Pogo is charging 86 gems for a ten badge album. I think this is getting to expensive. I have every badge and book since I joined in 2009, but I just don’t know if I want to put the extra gems out for only a ten badge book.

I wont be wasting my gems on this album with again is too simple to complete and not worth the money
Also Linda #1 Pogo i think has always charged 86 gems for a 10 badge album and they even charged the same for a 12 album,but once they got rid of the cash payment,the 12 challenge album rocketed up to 101 gems

JMHO, so please don’t jump all over me: It would be nice if this section of the thread when an album is out for purchase was once again devoted to tips on how to play the games or win the challenges in the album, not discertations as to why people think purchasing the album is a waste of their money, etc. This is getting old on here and we already read these grumbles when it was first noted the album was coming out.

Jigsaw Treasure Hunter: To meet the time requirement, it is often better to complete a puzzle you are familar with. You get faster the more often you do the same puzzle. Completed puzzles are archived in the game for replay.

You all make the comments sections what you want them to be. Right now it’s clear that a little venting is needed on many topics. Do we prefer hints and tips instead? Heck yes. 🙂

I tried to practice Beaker Creatures and I understand the game but I am finding it impossible to get up to that third beaker (I play on the easiest level too!) Any tips?

86 gems for a 10-badge album comes out to 8.6 gems per badge. Compare that to the regular price of 16 gems per M&M badge or even the usual 12 gems each when they’re on sale. The albums are actually decently priced; it’s the Mix and Match badges that are too expensive.

A 10 badge album has cost 86 gems since the first one was released in December 2005. The only exceptions were if they were put on sale or there was a coupon available. Like Cindy I have them all, so we really do know this as a fact.
The only one I’m happy they changed was the Ali Baba slots one. The last time it took me 30 hours of play, spread out over quite a few days, to get that badge.
Jigsaw Treasure Hunter – Pick a puzzle that has 3 distinct colors, the beach puzzle is a good one. The bottom is sand, the middle is water, and the top is the sky. I can do puzzle in my sleep…almost….LOL
Beaker Creatures – This is not timed, so spend a little bit of time making perfect matches. That will give you more points and fill up the tubes without using all your creatures. That should help you have enough to finish all 3 rounds for the bonus.
Hangman – Remember that BH has a list of the words for this game. It is under “Game Help” on the right hand side of the BH home page.

Mahjong Garden tip–
You do NOT have to complete the game to get credit for matching white dragons.
I’ve already ranked out (for now, lol) in this game, so I just hit “new game” until I can see both white dragons (look in “how to play” and click “tiles” tab and scroll down and there is a picture of what white dragons look like).
Then I click the white dragons and hit “new game.”
So, if you don’t care about rank progress, you could get this badge in just a few minutes.

I have been playing for a few years and yes I do believe the badge books have always been 86 gems. However due to a my slimming budget I try only to buy when badges and badge books go on sale. HINT HINT, pogo, I need a sale.

I agree with Happy #15 — we need a sale. I just bought the Yahtzee (Best of Album) because it was a little cheaper (with only 8 badges) and I’m trying to rank out (again).
This album looks fairly easy. Glad to see a Jigsaw Treasure Hunter badge in there as I haven’t played that one in ages!

#6 laurenjulie – Since you play on easy, you can select two creatures, then hover your mouse over one of the remaining creatures. At the top of the game screen, above where it says horns, eyes, color, shape, the lights will light up showing you which of those your current 3 creatures satisfy. So you can keep selecting two creatures, and hovering the mouse over a third until all 4 lights at the top of the screen are lit up, then select that 3rd creature to make a perfect match. Then just repeat. For anyone else reading this, the lights only work on easy.

I am so disappointed in this album. I will not get it sadly. I am so tired of playing the same old games. How many albums have payday freeceel, every other one. Pogo needs to be creative and add different games on the albums, not always the same group of games reshuffled.

The best part of this album is Mahjong Gardens. When I finish that badge my dragon will be 505 years old 🙂 The only game I don’t enjoy is Payday, but thankfully have a family member that can play that game in her sleep. Since she works 6 days a week and I help her when there are longer weekly challenges, so it works out well for both of us.
Usually I work on a badge in a game that I don’t like, then a badge in a game I like, trying to space out the bad with the good. I don’t have to do that with this album, I enjoy playing 9 of the 10 games.

@William Porygon, I agree, the MnM badges are too expensive. I think the PBAs are actually a really good deal at only about 8 gems per animated badge. I’ve never understood how Pogo can justify charging fully twice as much for non-animated MnM badges. This is why I never buy MnM badges and only buy the PBAs.
@laurenjulie, focus on getting perfect matches in Beaker Creatures. A really good tip that I figured out on accident is the following: If you can’t make a perfect match, then just click three creatures that don’t match and then click the undo button. The three creatures that you cleared will be replaced with different creatures, which often gives you what you need for the perfect match. This sounds more confusing than it actually is. Just give it a try — make a match, click undo, and see what happens. Note, however, that you can’t do this with the last match of a tube, as they don’t allow you to undo a match on the new tube.

I bought the new album and activated the Crossword Cove Badge…win 10 crosswords on Hard level…well I do the crosswords every day and did win the one for today towards the badge..but guess what you cannot replay any of the past days if you have did them already..so everyone this is a heads up…save 10 days worth of crosswords before you activate the Badge.

Not too happy about Freecell or Hangman, but if only 2 out of 10 are ones I don’t like then I’ll take it! For DCR tips, I find that the easiest one to clear is the make X number, followed by the match same number, and put anything left over in the full house or straight.

The awards for World Class Solitaire, Addiction Solitaire, Mahjong Garden and Crossword Cove listed above are incorrect; the tokens were changed sometime between the sneak peak and the issuance of the album. I didn’t notice until I was playing Addiction Solitaire and saw the miserly 2000-token payout. Lucky for us, the other games awards went up, not down. 🙂

I’m sure it will be on sale soon so I’ll hold out…Also I’m waiting on any album now as well as M&M because why buy it and play and then have my rank progress reduced when Pogo gets the idea to add ranks. I’ve spoken to many that are rebelling especially after this last wave of albums, best of, excruciating long ranks on old games, etc. And if someone wants to break it down I understand it’s not expensive. I don’t care one lick about the money it’s about the value of playing the same things over and over and over and over and over and over

I sure hope that Pogo is smart if and when they add additional ranks and badges to Crossword Cove and Trivial Pursuit and give us three months warning. It was quite the bummer to miss credit in Word Search Daily because I played daily puzzles (not random puzzles) for the 2/16/2011 Weekly Challenge along with the February 2011 Mix badge “Hapless Hiker”.
Unlike games like Pogo Bowl or Payday Freecell Solitaire, where even if you played 1,000 games since ranking out, you cannot just “play” games in Word Search Daily, Trivial Pursuit and Crossword Cove, since you use up the supply of available daily puzzles.
I, for one, will be very careful when playing for the Crossword Cove badge in this album. I will only play the UK side and do the OLDEST available UK puzzles. Good luck with your badge hunting!

thia album has alot of games i cant playbut im going to get it if it takes forever as it was a gift from some 1 i dont even know or is a pogo member as i tried to check but i want to thank this person so very much for being so generous,also i fine the best of albums like bowl, yathzee are good when u have to rank out and also it is about money when u have to get gems to get these albums,because mostly every 1 is being crunched in these times, plus come on pogo get some serveys out there where you dont need to buy something for free gems, thanks for all the tips on how to get some of these badges, thanks lura for this site

I was trying to win the crossword badge in the new summer games album. One has to play it on hard and it will not close in the letters to let me finish the game. How can I win this badge on hard when it will ot close the letters..

Think I will get this one once I can save up the gems. With no offers lately I may need to wait a few months . The only one I find will be hard for me is the jigsaw still need if for a different album I play the same one over and over and over but on easy if I do normal or above I can do it but not in 8 mins or less but practice make perfect right! I love Pogo being disabled it takes me away from the fact I am housebound and takes my mind off the pain. Pogo has saved me in many ways. Have a great day!!!!

moms i like to know where the beach puzzle is also, plus i have played beacher creatures for i full day and only have 3 thanks for the hints here as i go again to try i went up from rank 20 to 24 so far , i tried the ppuzzle 1 i couldnt do it they are so smallthe best i could do was 18 to 11 minutes so i gave up to play bb oh my brain this is the hardest album i ever had what a challenge,, also thanks for the offer darlene,

There is no way I can get the Jigsaw Treasure Hunter puzzle in less than 8 minutes no matter how many times I repeat the same puzzle.
The puzzle that MomsBassetHound #40 mentioned on here (White Beach Sand) – I cannot find it when I use the Unlocked Puzzles – It isnt there under “Island” (just two others). So If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this badge so I can complete this album – I would appreciate it…….. I have all the other puzzles complete. LOVE THIS BOARD – so so helpful 🙂 THANKS!!!

soooooooooooooo sad, i wont b buying this album ONLY 4 the reason that Pay Day is in it & no matter how much i practice i can not do this game at all (& its preventing me from completing 2011 year book & 2003 through 2009) what a shame……
Pogo if u r reading these comments how about this idea : Swap-A-Badge-Game ….I would gladly “Swap-Out” all the Pay Day Games in my albums & BUY another to replace it ***********please offer something like this <3 (not 4 all, but a lot of people would probably be glad to complete an album if they could replace a game that they cant do)
