Just a reminder that both can be done on FB so you get your XP points.
I made rank 49 in Rainy Day this week, so almost done….woohoo!! These 5 games won’t help much, but it’s something.

Just wanted to give a couple hints to those who don’t play Rainy Day Soli on a regular basis. This challenge can be played on easy, which is one suited match. While you Cannot use the far right bonus column, you can still use the free cells at the bottom of screen if need be. Also, you can use the Undo freely and frequently, backing up to the spot where you drew another pile from the lower right. You often can find a card this way that you have been hoping for.

Pat’s hints helped. Any for Yahtzee?

#2 Pat – Thanks for the hints. Any hints are very much appreciated. Two hours in to the challenge and I have won 2 games. 🙁 It’s going to be a loooong one for me.

Hey all! Hope you are having a great week!! I’m also looking for some tips for Yahtzee. I’ve played at least 10 games and am not able to get 63 points or more in the top column. Anyone know how this is done?
Karen says
For the Yahtzee. I use a calculator
laurie says
Hi
For Yahtzee i put 3 or more on each amount and you should get the badge

Went into wild room, also a slow room. This way I can think and plan ahead. Is working, not there yet but on the way. GL all!

In Yathzee you can click your mouse on the bouns part of the upper card and it will tell you how many points you have and how many points you need for the bouns.
hope that made some sense!

Okay, try for yahtzee hints..hmm. when I do the top half, I “try” for a minimum of 3 in each category as 3 of each will add up to the proper minimum. On the first roll, if I have 2 or more of a number, i save those 2 die and throw the other 3–if it still looks good, i carry on, if not–recognize what it looks closest to (such as full house or straight or other) and adjust. In this case, just having to get the top part, you have an additional aid in completing it. For instance if what I need is 3 2’s and I only get two of them at last roll, I will NOT put that in 2’s spot with a negative. I would sooner put a zero in large straight than come up short in the top half. Another thing I do is say, i roll and get four 5s on my first roll. Of course, i save all but one, and try for a yahtzee. If I Don’t get this, I have a few choices where to put the four 5s, such as chance, 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, and 5s in upper part. For purposes of This challenge, I would put in upper 5s. That way, if I fall short in another category, I have 5 points extra in trying to make the 63 total. Hope this makes sense. You can sacrifice some of the lower categories in order to safeguard the upper, if your goal is to get the badge in question.

Thanks so much Pat #2 for the hint. I thought, after comleting my very first yearly album in 2010, I was going to start off 2011 with an incomplete in Rainy Day. Sure appreciate the tip. Laurie, #7, thanks to you too, it sure is helping.

Guess I lucked in in both games, got Spider in 6 and Yahtzee in 10. I didn’t know we could use extra columns in Spider, so did all without using one. Have no further hints than what were given, Good luck with it all. No to my secondary account1 lol.

Tips for 63 plus on the upper card:
Focus on the upper card, even at the expense of other opportunities from the lower card. This will make it more likely you get the upper card score of 63. 63 points is exactly 3 of a kind of each die number 1-6, so you need to average 3 of a kind for each number. If you must miss hitting 3 of a kind of one number, then you’ll need to make it up with more than 3 of a kind of one or more other numbers. So, if you must miss 3 of a kind, always do this in 1’s first, then 2’s, then 3’s. If you missed one of each of these, you could still make it if you got 4 6’s. Even if you got 0 1’s, getting an extra 3, 4, 5, or 6 will allow you t5o still make the upper card score. Conversely, if you missed a 6 (and only had 2 of them scored for 12 points), you’d need 4 of a kind of at least 2 other numbers (ie 4 1’s and 4 5’s). Not easy to do, so try never to miss getting at least 3 of a kind of 4s, 5s, and 6s.
Also, anytime you get a 4 of a kind, try to put it in the upper card near the beginning of a game. Later, the decision of where to score 4 of a kind will depend on what you have left on the bottom card, and whether it is still likely you can make the upper card without that 4 of a kind. Also for early in the game, if you roll a low pair like 1’s or 2’s, you may opt to go after other cells in the scoring grid since keeping the 1’s and 2’s open may help you later if you can’t complete a 3 of a kind in 4’s, 5’s, or 6’s. Maybe that’s a time when you go for straights or full-houses. Once the 1’s and 2’s are scored, you can’t go back, so consider keeping them open depending on how well you’re doing getting the 3’s through the 6’s.
Hope this helps a little.
Wish my yahtzee would STOP running out of memory … grrrrrrrrrrr
pastorpapabear says
These are all great tips for Yahtzee. May I add one more? Obviously, getting the 63 and 250 for a spin is the best goal to reach every game. But, if you have to, you can use a yahtzee to fill in at the top. So, if you are running behind, and you get a yahtzee with 4’s and you have not filled in your upper 4’s, use your yahtzee up there, rather than at the bottom. It might be worth less points, but this way, you will most likely catch up, and get your 35 bonus points, and make headway on your badge.

Thanks for the Yahtzee advice everyone!

pretty easy badges.. Yatzhee took 12 games,Rainy day took 7 games.i just gotta know one thing..why do people come into rooms and ask “what do i need to do for the badge?” Are peeps that dense..or mebbe its an attention thing,i dont know lol.
anyways,i played the speedy wild rooms in Yatzhee, nice and fast..even won 3 games lol.i dont really have any advice cos we’re really not in control of the dice.just play it normally, but instead of going for the big points at the bottom,go for the bonus first.
ruffbucks1 says
also…seems that Yatzhee is being generous with the yatzhees themselves..i must have gotten 10,12 of them in the games i played.getting them are a HUGE help for badge progress 🙂

I enjoyed both badges this week, got to work on ranks, and get XP points at the same time. I am a little closer to rank 50 in Rainy Day, made rank 49 the other day when I did the Jan M&M badge. And I made rank 38 in Yahtzee doing today’s badge 🙂
I’m doing Holly’s personal in Poppit b/c I have a premium badge activated where I have to drop 4000 prizes. I got the Game Journey album when it was on sale and used the 25% off coupon, so only paid about $4 for it. It’s the only premium album I have for her account, figured it would come in handy if I ever needed to do extra badges for a super badge. You get 4 weeks to do the badge so will get 4 personals done in Poppit while working on it 🙂
Good Luck to anyone still working on their badges!!

thanks for the tips. I definitely agree shooting for the top with all the dice that you can to get to 63 is the best option. Don’t worry about the bottom portion of the card or trying to get a high score. Just get the 63 the best way you can. I played in Facebook and recieved 6/9 achievments YAAAYYYY during the time I took to get the badge completed about 1 1/2 hours. Good luck all.

YQW for any hints that helped. I have learned so many hints on BH and continue to learn them. This is a great way to share and pay-it-forward. I am grateful to all who have helped me. (Smile).

#9 Michelle – Where do you click on the upper part of your Yahtzee card to see how many points you have? I am always looking to see how many extra points I have to see what I need to get the bonus. I finished this week’s badge but would love to know for the future. I do like playing Yahtzee and that would make less thinking I would have to do!
What good tips this week…..enjoy doing your badges, everyone, and have a good week!

I find the easiest way to play this for this badge (and I play this with my family at home) is unless I get a small straight right off the bat I’m throwing for a yahtzee every throw. In other words – if you have two of any dice KEEP them… roll for the highest first obviously. 6’s, 5’s, 4’s…
it’s easier to make up the smaller ones. (as has been stated above)
In order to score upper bonus ideally you need 3 of each.
I use the 1’s as my “bone pile” which means, it quite often scores a 0 or a 1 while my 4’s thru 6’s usually have a 4 of a kind on them.
VERY rarely do I miss upper card bonus. Of course, if the dice aren’t going to cooperate and it’s a lousy game, it’s a lousy game.
I’ve been playing so long (since I was about 7) that I can keep track in my head. I know that if I have 24 in my 6’s (4 of a kind) – I’m 6 up. I can get 2 3’s and still zero out my 1’s and be safe as long as I have a 3 of a kind in everything else.
I will usually get more Yahtzee’s this way too… IF the dice are cooperating of course 😉
My average scores are usually well over 350 in any given game.
If I have to zero out something on the lower level to do this… I’ll start with the 4 of a kind.
Hope that helps.
BTW – looking for a backgammon partner for my personal… any takers?

Kind of crazy week for me here, but wanted to be sure to send a quick thank you to everyone for tips, but especially to Michelle #9 – I *LOVE* learning something new I didn’t know before! I used to spend so much time trying to figure out for myself what I still needed for the bonus. lol TY for sharing!
ALWAYS worth stopping by BH first, even if you think you have a handle on what you need to do. lol
Ann1 #22 – It is very late (early) so probably someone answered you, but since I can’t see it yet, here it goes. lol Following Michelle’s tip, I found out that you can click right on the word “Bonus” in the top half of the scoreboard. A scroll will appear along the bottom of the gameboard (under the dice) that will first give you your current total towards the bonus, then tells you how many more points you need. It is awesome!! lolllll

I just wanted to thank those of you who pointed out what’s needed to win the upper card bonus. I don’t play the game often and to my embarassment I have never been able to figure out what is needed to score the ucb. Now I know it’s 3 of a kind (or less if I score well on higher numbers) I am gettting the ucb nearly every game.
Thanks again everyone!

In Yahtzee, I just wanted to say that I never worry about adding up or figuring how many I need toward total. If I end up being short, such as total of 4 on 2’s, I just think “I am short 2” and know I need to make this amount up. If I get four 5s, I know I am “five up”. I just keep count of shortages and windfalls, and even them out…I just take the “five up” and subtract the “2 short” and know I am “plus 3”. This works easier for me. I am never calculating, working with much smaller amounts that are easier to figure.

On rainy day solitaire, it helps to keep clicking “new deal” (bottom left of screen) until a free cell card is one of the first cards dealt.

#24 Shel – Thanks for explaining! LOL…I am a bit dense, I think. I just went in and tried to click on BONUS but nothing happened. Then I right-clicked as you said and still nothing (I thought!). However, I then looked at the bottom and, just as you said, it told me how many points I had and how many I needed to get the bonus. I always have done as #26 Pat said; however, this might be a quicker way. I shall try it so ty again to Michelle #9!

Hi all. For Yahtzee Party I’m playing Wild Mode, the star dice help you get the Upper Card Bonus.
Sheljin says
Ann1 #28 – You aren’t dense, or else we both are. lol I did the same thing. I’m clicking, nothing’s happening, when suddenly – luckily! – I saw a flash at the bottom of the screen. lollll
Pat #26 – It should be that easy, keeping track if you got one less 4 or one more 6, but I find with trying to keep the game moving along, making choices, etc., where I am at with the upper bonus sometimes gets lost in the shuffle of my brain. lol Having something easy to check is a big help.
Here is a tip I don’t think I have seen yet for Yahtzee: You can change the spot where you decide to put a particular roll any number of times until you actually click on the cup to roll the dice again. So, if you put three 6s in the upper half 6s slot, but find that you miss the bonus, you can just click in the three-of-a-kind slot and put that roll there. Or click anywhere else and take a 0 for the roll in order to try again for more 6s for the upper bonus.
