One of my favorite games, but it takes FOREVER to rank up. I made it to rank 40 a few months ago, but spent so much time in there that I probably won’t go back for a very long time.
I played almost 88,000 hands to get to rank 40, but need another 82,000 hands for the last 10 ranks. Even though you are playing 21 hands at once you only get credit for 1 hand per game. Whoever set the amounts for the ranks must have been on heavy duty meds 🙂
I will always hold the “escape” card, but will only hold the “cliffhanger” card if it improves my hand.
Unless you are trying to get to the bonus round for a badge the game will go faster if you don’t cross the bridge.

I acutally really enjoy this game as you get to make decisions beyond just luck (vs games like slots games or Keno Pop). And it’s just plain fun to play, similar to certain video poker games. That said, ranking up is a seriously slow deal if you play normally as rank is based simply on how many hands you play and not on any skills.
So, it you are truly comitted to ranking up the game, there are tips for doing so but you have to be prepared to lose some tokens. “Bet one” to start the first game and then this bet will be used for all subsequent deals. You will lose as many as 21 tokens every hand moving forward though now and then you can win a few back. Then simple click “Deal” … “Draw” as fast as the game will allow you to for as long as you’re willing. This will play hands over and over very quickly since you are not stopping to make decisions and select cards, gradually ranking you up. Plus, you don’t lose any precious time moving your character across the rope bridge or in the royal flush game- both of which take up a ton of precious time without helping you rank. I lost well over 100,000 tokens doing this but got several of the rank badges while watching baseball and football, so it was well worth it to me. Good Luck!

Always hold 4 of a suit, never hold 3
Hold 4 of a suit in preference to a pair
Hold 3 of a kind (if one is a wild) in preference to 4 of a suit.
Never hold cards for an inside (or gutshot) straight.
Hold any cards which make a run of 4
For example hold 4567, do not hold 4568. Do not hold A234, or 10JQK
Always keep a wild even if you discard all the other cards

In the bonus game, there seems to be a pattern. The royal flush moves either clockwise or counter clockwise every four turns. Once you find the flush, choose a direction!

if i remember correctly, once the geezer on the bridge gets to the third stop, the tiki rolls the round hay bale toward him. if you click close or on the bale after it passes the bridge, the geezer will move on one spot.
dont know if its a glitch or what, but it helps

I loved this game….kept playing until I ranked out. When you get to the bonus round, skip around and try to find the Ace. When you find it, click all in that row because it is the winning hand/row.

In the bonus game, if you happen to find the Ace, that suit of cards is the one you want to click all the cards in order to get the max bonus… the Ace is replaced by the token amount card in the other suits.

This was one of my faves before I joined the Club because it can be a nice little earner for tokens and you don’t need to concentrate too much for them.
For tokens, I concentrate on advancing Tex as quickly as possible so I always hold Advance & Escape cards and Cliffhangers when they go with what I’d normally hold (such as a pair or 3 or 4 to a flush).
There are several glitches which you can used to get Tex further along.
The first is when Tex advances to the middle of the bridge and he ducks the boulder the Tiki rolls at him if you left click your mouse AFTER the boulder passes then Tex miraculously advances 1 spot to just before the bonus game. (I think this is what spliff #5 is referring to)
A Second, lesser known one is if you get an Advance 2 from the starting point which puts Tex where he avoids falling down with the plank and the Tiki shows up on the left preparing to roll the boulder, if you left click the mouse then you’ll end up in the middle of the bridge (effectively making it an Advance 3).
There’s a third glitch that should NOT be used in that when Tex advances to the next to last spot where he dodges the bird attack and if you left click he’ll advance to the cave entrance but the bonus game DOES NOT load which basically hangs the game so DO NOT do that.
As for the bonus game, as others have noted, If you find the Ace then that’s the suit with the Royal Flush so I concur with Jillian #7’s tip to click on one of each group looking for the Ace and repeat if necessary or just pick a suit and hope.

I normally dont leave comments, but in this case I think I should. There are some things in Pogo, you have to be very careful about what you say, esp. if you find a glitch or shortcut to a game.
This is in response to Spliff’s tip about the geezer walking to the third skull, yes you are correct, it will advance Tex. I have known about this ever since that game first came out. But I never say anything for one reason. Some things you should keep under your hat. There was 2 other games in Pogo that had a shortcut to them, and they stayed for awhile til everyone in public chat, started circulating the little secrets, well Pogo got wind of it, and the glitches and short cuts were removed, same thing can now happen to Lost Temple Poker. If the glitch disappears then you will know why. Some things are best left unsaid in Pogo. 🙂

Krista #9, you have a good point about not discussing some glitches on the pogo forums but I think I should point out that THIS IS NOT A POGO FORUM!
While it’s possible that someone from POGO may monitor discussions here and maybe they’ll be able to fix these “glitches” as a result but one of the best features of BH is for members to help other members with tips & tricks and until POGO fixes them then these “glitches” should be fair game to point out here.
