To avoid freezing:
Another way to avoid freezing is to play against a real person, not a bot. There are some setup instructions in this comment from the last time there was a weekly badge in Monopoly.
For those of you looking for the setup instructions so the game will ‘virtually play itself’ while you go do chores or whatever, check out one of the previous comments explaining that.
Looking back at that thread up there from last December, I’m reminded how I closed comments early that week (around 11ish on Thursday night) because my water broke. 🙂 I’m glad you all got some good tips in before baby decided to make his grand entrance.

Nice tips for those have prob in loading this game although i dont have any of those problem these days (first time yes i have). Anyway, something weird happen when i go to Monopoly page and enter a room. There is this “Pogo Game Night” promotion at the Monopoly page. It said it happen on Friday @ first week each month. Even got more strange…its 25th August right today? Why the promotion now? Even more strange is i enter the room and i got notice that i was entered into that Pogo Game Night promotion/ What the heck happen o_O?

I feel that the best way to pass go the most number of times is to disable trades and auctions which are very time consuming and don’t help you pass go. Passing go is also what is measured for Rank progress/badges, so my goal this week will be to use the settings that will eliminate as many “distractions” as possible- trades, animations and so on.
Lura- I have a picture of the settings I believe best accomplish this but can’t attach it to these comments. It requires 2 players so you can either double browse or play it with a friend and I believe it’s possible to pass go 75 times in about 90 minutes. Let me know on my email if you’d like that picture.

OK. I probably won’t be playing this game on a turn by turn basis. If you just get the game started and walk away, it will play your turn for you. True, you won’t win. You won’t get properties. And you might go bankrupt is a possibility. But I’m OK with that.
You only have to get pass GO. It doesn’t say you have to try your best to get there.

hi i should of just checked the pogo news first lol. Pogo UK and US r running game nites tonite (25th) in monopoly. While the UK site r offering 10x Monopoly prize packs the US r offering 75x of each of the 3 monopoly board games. Its all in aid of monopolys 75th b-day. Also they have finally found where abouts the go square is in london its in the newspaper today. Just abit of useless info for u there lol. Since I have 2 accounts and now 2 browsers, can I put one on monopoly playing and one doing more interactive play at same time? Getting my coffee and gonna read the how to double browse section…try to find the brain cells to accomplish this..
btw, I have firefox, always play with bots only and trade with bots frequently, and refuse constantly—i really think that the one thing I avoid is when you refuse and they ask do you want to stop being bugged by computer 4, for instance, I ALWAYS answer NO. I do not have the freezing problem….may be random, but I think the bugging question IS the bug…

I have no trouble with Monopoly freezing, but Perfect Pair has been freezing for me a lot. It usually happens in the middle of the game, when about half the cards are cleared. Any hints for preventing freezing in this game? It’s not the cache, I clear that before every other game or so, and restart my browser.
Both games this week are easy and should go by fast. It will be nice to be able to select three personals.

Finally got the badge.
Perfect Pair : No strategy. Not too hard i guess
Monopoly : It was insanity. Play with double browse. Same method like 2nd account buy anything sell it again to my 1st account with low cost. Play on custom rules with double pay on “GO” and get “$5” on Free Park. Check the “Skip Dialogue” on both account window. And play abt 2 and half hour. Done in 1 or 2 games for me.

If you are playing Monopoly with no trades, it might be very difficult for anyone to go bankrupt (and therefore have a winner) unless someone is able to get a good Monopoly. I’m not sure you get passing go progress if you just X out your game in the middle. I’ve never had the guts to do it lol. The tips posted for ranking work well with this badge. If you stand to play long enough to bankrupt two bots, you can run around the board very quickly.
Debbie #17 – I play PPS often, and I have freezing problems as well. I have no way to prove this, but I think it may be caused by clicking on cards too fast… Sometimes if I make a match while the animation from the previous match is going on, the game freezes. This may have nothing to do with the freezing, but see if slowing down a little helps. I’ll watch it this week, too. I’ve just come to the conclusion that I will have to lose games every once in a while and have to refresh my game window to keep going.

how do you set up monoply so that the bots don’t ask you to trade or sell.i know it don’t freeze up if 4 people are playing but my friend and i was cussed out 3 times today cause we were playing for badge and not just for “FUN” i told them we were sry that that didn’t want to play with us for badge .they said it was more “FUN” if you play to trade !

I played in a room with other players for over an hour..I declared bankruptcy as i was almost there..stood up..left and i don’t get credit for passing go.That’s why i would rather play alone..People use longer settings than i have time for.

i dont know what im doing wrong, but when i go to set a room in monopoly to custom settings, i have no choices because its all greyed out. im using explorer and then signed in on my husbands computer on firefox and its the same. its not a big deal.. hubby said he would help me out, so it shouldnt be too bad.. i just liked the idea of the game doing itself while i did something else… lol… i just dislike the game, and have lots to do besides getting a square butt in the chair. (when your butt is like silly putty it tends to take on the shape of whatever you are perched on. lol ) have a great day all.

as long as you finish the game it doesnt matter who leaves in monopoly. you need to stay and finish it even if you are bankrupt. my best advice is to set up ur own table with the settings you want….which means going to the custom tab and picking a room in there.
Pogo has given me the best birthday present ever!!(bday is 8/28 saturday hehe) Extra personals this week yay!!! How did they know thats what i wanted? lol Now if i have time to get them all done, just barely got my pool badge done at 10:45pm last night.

This week’s Monopoly badge is such a snore. I’ve passed GO 41/75 times and definitely needed a break. Does ANYONE really care that this week marks the 75th anniversary of Monopoly? Not me. I can’t understand why Pogo had to make such a fuss about it. Monopoly is a “board” game that leaves me “bored” to death.
FYI: The better anniversary to celebrate today is Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” album. It was released 35 years ago today.
I’m only 37 years old, but I know how fantastic that album is. Honor “The Boss” and play his album as you work your way through the Monopoly badge. It will make playing a little less boring.

I haven’t started the challenges yet as I’ve been shopping with my Mama for my birthday but I’m dreading the Monopoly one. Perfect Pair will be fine, I like that game. I like Monopoly too but I hate the feezing.

I’ve been dreading the Monopoly challenge, I hate the game. I am at 30/75 after 7 games, playing with bots and luckily no freezing. At least I can multitask as I play. I just want to get it over with so I can enjoy the 3 personals and Perfect Pair.
Though, I just want to know how it is possible that in my last game I went to jail 4 times in a row. Very annoying. I should be so ‘lucky’ when I buy lottery tickets.

Like, you can’t say no, it’s not ok so why do you have to click the okay beacuse something happened? It’s almost like the people who post their every movement on Facebook. And, couldn’t the freezing issue have been resolved by now? I dislike most board games & play against bots so as not to bother those really into the game, but 75 games for a birthday I could care less about – yuck…okay, my vent & whine….gl all

I am going to add a little love for poor Monopoly on its 75th birthday. lol It is far from my favorite game here on Pogo, but I do have a few fond memories of playing it as a kid with my sibs. My brother was a shark and it got tiring him going all tycoon-y on us, but it still offers some fond memories for me. I don’t know that I would have ever noticed that it had turned 75 lol, but it is an amazing milestone. One of the things I DO like about Monopoly is the different versions people have put out of it. I love checking out those different collectible versions.
But, I have to agree with luv #30 – Born to Run’s “birthday” is a much bigger call for celebration IMO! Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!

You don’t need to view every offer to prevent the freeze. If you reject 3 (or is it 4?) offers from a particular bot, the game will ask if you want to ignore all trade requests from that bot. Always say no! If you say yes, the next time that bot tries to trade with you, your game will freeze for a few minutes. As long as you don’t choose to ignore all future trade requests from any bots, the game won’t freeze. At least it hasn’t for me.

when you land on go, it will tell you how many times youve passed go and how many more times you need to pass to next rank, umless like me, i only get the total times ive passed, due to getting rank 100

I just hope Pogo gave us 3 personal each week not in “Surprise” term. Pogo should listen to this since Pogo got invloved in top 50 websites in Times (yay…i guess) and Pogo should really listen to their customer (Read : Player) abt what they want to make them happy and make them more loyal (Read : always online on Pogo)

Thankyou Lura, for the tip not to press reject offer. When i started doing the badge, i was really getting annoyed. I got stuck and it took over an hour to play two games. After using that tip i was fine and went to a speedy room. It still took awhile but i did get it. Thankyou again…..

whanapian2 #14: You don’t have to land on GO to see the progress, just click on GO and it will tell you how many times you have to pass GO for next rank. So just click on it at the start of the game and remember your starting number, then when you click later just subtract to see how many times you have passed GO.
Ed #3: How do you disable the trading? I couldn’t find that option. I did find the disabling autions option and that did speed things up.
Ro #36: There’s a speedy dialogs option that make the OK dialogs go away after a few seconds.
I tried letting the game play over night, but I guess the timeout happened because I didn’t get any credit, even though I passed go a bunch of times before I let it play by itself.

i enjoy playing monopoly but i have found this game on pogo freezes up all the time. For pogo to give this game as a weekly badge they should fix the problems this game has. none of the other games freezes up on me so i know it isn’t my computer. any suggestions

Does anybody else notice that when we go to Auction, bot ALWAYS beat you by $5?? I have even used odd number to bid and 99% of time they win!!!!. THink pogo could make it a little more even as to who gets it.
I like being able to do 3 personal, but think it would be nice if they told us on POGO badge page ahead of time when they tell us what the next weeks challenges will be. With the new album out and the old revived ones, I was working on 4 different challenges already, so I have a lot to work on this week. I have been playing Monopoly for about 4 hours,since yesterday..So far i have 6/75!!! I was in a room so slow yesterday..Today my game froze..I have lost about 25+ so far..Pogo should have a count every time you pass go..Especially with this game..Freezes.telephone rings,distractions…You lose it all..Can’t even go to the washroom..I PERSONALLY do not have time to sit all day in front of the pc for nothing.

Since people are having such a hard time with the settings and others are too busy to host, I figured I would break out and post an image from my photo sharing account.
Keep in mind you need to go to the ‘Custom Room’ tab on the far right and go in a game room there. Depending on the length of time you will be away from your PC will depend on the length of time you set the game. I set the hosted image for 30 minutes but others have set it to 90 minutes depending on when they come back to the computer. A quick recap of changes made in the custom game are:
1. Select ‘Speedy Rules’
2. Change turn timer to fast
3. Players will need 4 houses before a hotel
4. Uncheck ‘Auction unwanted properties’
5. Each player starts with no properties
6. Set your total game time limit (your decision)
7. Set game turn limit to 25
8. Set game bankruptcy limit to 3
I also unchecked the option to have players replace computer players. If you are getting booted due to inactivity, it’s because after the game is over, you still have to select OK to find out the winner, then OK to figure out your standings in the game before you can start a new game.
Also, once the game starts, you can check the X that says ‘Speedy Dialogs’ above the ‘Who’s Here’ section to shorten the length of time the dialog boxes are shown.

Left monopoly on all night and it was there in the morning but I did notice when I tried to set up using both accounts I have I got booted due to inactivity.Seems to only work if you play 3 bots and no other humans.

P.S. This is not Ed’s version (Post #3). This is just a simple setup that I have found to work. On a 30 minute game I average about 4-6 times to pass GO.

I love Monopoly, but I’ll be spending several days playing that badge. I think I passed “Go” about 12 times already — and that was with two games. The Perfect Pair one was not difficult at all and I achieved completion after about one long cruise around the entire board.
On the plus side, the three personal challenges allowed me to put a dent into the Aces Up weekly badges I needed.

I have all 3 of Holly’s personals done and 2 of my personals. My 3rd is that long Poppit one that I’m doing with the new premium badge.
I’ve done the Perfect Pair badges on both accounts and I’m working on the Monopoly now. I’m about half way with Holly’s….don’t know why I’m doing her’s first, but that’s how it worked out 🙂
I really enjoy the Monopoly and that’s why I’m not doing them together, but it does require some time. By the time I’m done both of them I may have wished that I did them together….lol

As for the GOes on pogo, mine are about 10 off for some reason–when I pass go, it will say that I have, for instance, 7 more to next rank—when it does game summary, it says 17 more to next rank…not sure when the glitch occurred, but, mine has it–I just add 10 to whatever it says…

The first game of monopoly will always have the correct number to the next rank. At the end of the game it tells you how many times you passed go and how many to next rank. I keep up with mine by writing it down, same way I do all the games I play. If you play the next game at the same table, when you click on the GO corner it will be wrong. So don’t let that bother you. If my game freezes or I leave the table, it still gives me credit for the times I went pass GO for my rank. But no credit towards a badge. I found this out waaaaaay back when the game was first released.

bunnybear #63 I just noticed that! The last game said that I passed “Go” on Monopoly 6 times, but it registered 7 on the ‘x of 75’ tally for the badge challenge.
And I know it’s screwy for ranking. For the past few weeks (including tonight), if I play Monopoly, it’ll give me an inaccurate count of how many times I need to pass go for my next rank. For instance, my last game said I needed to pass go 8 more times for a new rank. However, if I hit the “Go” square on the board, it says that I have reached the next rank with some message like “At the end of this game, you will have achieved the next rank.”
Again, I love this game, so it’s not a big issue with me. I just want to get that triple six-doubles jailbird badge.

Folks there is a PAUSE button on the Monopoly gameboard. If you are playing against Bots then you can use that to give yourself a little time for the restroom, get a snack, or answer the phone. It is located to the left of the the Speedy Dialogs box. I am not sure how long you can stay on pause since I set my game up and let her “rip” while I do other things like sleeping. ):

I was playing Monopoly last night against robots got down to the last two turns and froze. Ugh!!
Emptied my temp files & cookies and ALSO emptied my JAVA Temporary files. Yeah it can take 2-4 minutes after you delete the Java files but I always unfreeze.

#51 sharbear – I always win an auction by $5. I think it just automatically does that for the winner, puts it $5 above the 2nd highest bid. I find I usually just have to bid REALLY high if it’s a property I want (if it won’t lead to a monopoly, then forget it). For the weekly badge though I went to the custom tab and turned off auctions because it makes the game go faster.
Also, that bug where you reject the trade offers for bots and then the game freezes, that seems like it’s been around for a long while now… wonder if they’ll fix it before the 100th anniversary badge 😉

Monopoly was not fun, but I grinned and bore my way through it. As for it not keeping track of passing go correctly, it did for me. The only thing I’ve noticed is if you switch tables or rooms, a lot of times your rank progress will be off (in almost all pogo games) for a short amount of time until their servers get caught up with your rank progress.
As for monopoly, I double browsed, refused to buy any properties with one account, and sent them all to auction instead and bought them for the chintzy min price of 5. I then mortgaged every single property. Eventually one account had every property and each was mortgaged. Then it’s just a matter of clicking ‘roll’ and ‘end turn’ and hoping to land on chance/community chest and get a card that helps you move around the board (advance to go, reading railroad, montreal, london, etc.)… Still took just over 2 hours though.

I understand Pogo’s desire to cut down on the cheaters or those who take advantage of the glitches. In Monopoly, not too long ago, you were able to let it autoplay, even all night long. But now they made it so that it’s not even enough time to go to the bathroom before it makes you stand up! And on top of that, that beautiful pause button doesn’t even work unless there is at least one computer player! Seriously Pogo, if I gotta pee, or even do a number 2, give me enough time to finish before you boot me.

Monopoly was a slog, but at least I didn’t ‘play’ it, I don’t like it at all. It doesn’t freeze for me, thankfully, but it’s still a slog to do for a long badge like this one. I have double browsed in the past but this time I just set my laptop on my desk next to my Mac and used vicvic’s settings (Thanks vicvic!) and let it go. I checked it approximately every 30 minutes to start another game but it still took a long time, it seems. I’m just glad it’s over. 🙂

After looking at it again, you can set the turns to 30 if you want, so the game will end after 30 turns or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. My friend said when she set hers to 90 minutes and came back she had about 19 GO passes, which is the same as a 30 minute game at, let’s say 6 GO passes a game, just a lengthier version if you know you’ll be away for an hour and a half. Also, I heard that even if you leave and don’t come back for a bit, the game will still be there. I think the inactivity boot is only if you have another person in your game at some point, which is why I set my game to have no people replace the computers.
At times, while I’ve had this game going and actually was able to come back to the PC to look at where I was at, if it was my turn to roll, I’d roll then pass on all properties. Don’t know how much good this does but I figure it opens up a few more minutes to maybe get my guy past the GO one more time or so since it shaves off the 30 seconds the PC waits on you to play or play for you.

Last night I was able to let the game play itself. I bought a few properties and left. I tried to set it up to be a long game. I picked no time or turn limit, no networth goal, and 3 bankruptcies. When I woke up I had come in second place and had passed GO 13 times. I just had to press Okay. Hopefully when I get back from work I’ll have 10 more.

I read about all the hints for monopoly (thank you all) and have set my game to them. But one thing I can’t figure out how to leave the game alone and do something else. If I don’t roll or check auctions, nothing happens, it just sits there and I just hate to think I have to spend all my day in front of the PC. I used all the settings as mentioned above, so please let me know what setting I have to use that the computer plays for me and I don’t have to press buttons.

This is my first time to post here…I have been a lurker for several years…
Here are a few tips for Monopoly that I used to earn the badge…This works for Double Browsing ONLY
Custom Tab
Family Rules (in drop down box on game set up)
Turn Timer: Fast
Double Cash for Landing on GO
Each Player starts with 5 properties
Game Limit: 30 minutes
Turn Limit: NONE
Game Net Worth: NONE
Bankrupties: 1
Uncheck to Allow Computer Players to replace empty seats
I usually make my table private so that no one else can join the two players that I play with (as I usually do mine, my mom’s, and a friend’s weekly badges)…Buy each and every property that is offered…Don’t worry about trading or building houses…Just sit and click roll, buy property, end turn…Lather, rinse, repeat…..
I did this with all 3 of the people in one game…If you need to step away to go potty, answer telephone, or whatever, be sure to hit PAUSE on all players….Also, for a quicker play, be sure to put the “X” in the “Speedy Dialouge” button above the “Who’s Here”…..I was able to pass go about 15 to 20 times with each player per game…It took me about 4 games to get all 3 badges…
Hope this helps those that don’t already have the badge…This also works well for ranking up quicker (if anyone is interested….LOL)

I finished off the last of Holly’s badges and now I’m working on my Monoply badge, about 2/3’s done.
I am almost caught up with the 2010 badges on Holly’s account, just 4 more to go. I haven’t decided if I’m going to start with the 2003 album or the 2009 album after that.
One of the badges I did for Holly was the Keno Pop where you had to use 25 power ups. I had never played the game using Holly’s account before and got to rank 18 while doing the badge. I was shocked that I made that much rank progress while doing just 1 badge, and it really didn’t take that long.

Hi all. For Monopoly I played the bots.
For Perfect Pair use the Free Cells if you can. The pairs that are across from each other in the same row will give you a heart right away. After you get a heart, remove any King Cards if you can or they will stop your progress.

this is for the monopoly badge. ive learned if you play on the CLASSIC level, it may go alot longer buy you will only have to play 1 or 2 games to get the goal of 75turns around GO, this level will also help with the other badges of getting doubles., having ppl pay u rent X times. GL mdfs

people are referring to auto play, how do you set that in options? I am playing on custom tab and setting the settings as suggested from the thread but I am not finding an “auto play” option. any help with this team?

WOW….great job pogo! I am very satisfied with this weeks badges. I will agree that at first I thought 75 times past go in Monopoly wsa a bit much, but after getting in there and playing the game, I actually had fun. Although I must admit that Monopoly is one of my favorite games. I think the game goes faster if you get in there and play to win rather than just worrying about passing go. (Just my opinion)

Suz #79 – for my second account, which I started in March, I am currently doing badges to help get the mini items. No matter what the year is. Someone had said in one of the weekend posts it would take them 14 years to get caught up. I didn’t do the math, but who is to say Pogo will be here 14 years from now? Or even me for that matter!!! Lol If I get the mini items and am close to a rank badge, I try for that next.

Cfrank #82 and Margarete #77 – there is no ‘autoplay’ button or option, Monopoly just automatically continues play because all the game activities (like rolling the dice or paying rent for example) are timed. There is always a little timer going. When the timer reaches zero, the game plays the action (rolls the dice and moves your piece or pays rent, and so on). I play against three bots in a private room. I have tried this in Classic as well as with several different options settings in Custom and the game has played thru til finished each time and always waits for me to click ok. Also I have never been booted for inactivity. Hope this helps.

I may not get an answer for this because it is sooo late in the weeks thread but will try anyways. How come in Monopoly I keep getting the jail break badge when I already received it way back when? I get the page that pops up saying I just won it but sadly I go to my badge page and it is not really there. Any ideas?

You can only get the actual badge once, and with a game award badge you don’t even get the X2 next to the badge. It happened to me with the “jail break” and the “getting crowded” badges also.

Well, FINALLY got the Monopoly badge – whew! Threw in a re-do on a MnM and also completed a PBA badge. AND……..ta da!……. finally made Rank 10 and got THAT badge too. So, 3 badges and 1 repeat badge – not too shabby for an incredibly PITA and frustrating challenge. lol
I used vicvic’s #53 method – ty again for reminder! – with tweaking a few of the items. I ended up playing for 30-45 minutes at a time rather than a longer span because one time that I let it play, it blanked out to a yellow screen and lost any progress when I got back. (Another time, it DID give me progress, even though I wasn’t able to exit the game the “right” way – so who knows?) But I was averaging maybe 5-8 “Go’s” per game – so it did take me quite some time. Ahhh well, it’s done. woohoooo!
(Btw, the PBA badge was to roll doubles 60 times. The game AFTER I completed that badge, I rolled 12 doubles – the highest of all the games I had played. lollllll Gee, but there’s no tweaking. ;>)
Now on to PP – not as worried about that. If I end up having to do it later on as a personal, I’m okay with that.

I FINALLY learned of a faster way to get the monopoly badge (better late than never some might say!). When you go into the game, select the custom tab at the top of the page. Choose room. After selecting a room, the yellow screen will come up. At the top always start with these rules: pogo rules. Then set timer to fast…set rounds to 25. Then Uncheck Auction unwanted properties and Allow computer players to fill empty seats. Then it will look like there will be 4 players but will only be 2 when you get started. Remember you have to have 2 players or you cannot play it at all and also do not buy any properthy – just go round and round.
