This week was a lot of fun — the weekly badges weren’t too tough or too time-consuming, we had a blast (at Pogo’s expense) with our little Mini contest, and we got our chat colors sorted out.

Speaking of our little Mini Contest: There were so many great entries into the contest it took me FOREVER to choose a winner! So many of you had me laughing out loud! (I’m looking at you, Karen… LOL) There can only be winner, though. So our winner is…. Smilee! She wins the 3-month pass to Club Pogo, and her winning “UBF 0001” mini is featured to the left.

A couple weeks ago, Frank had brought up his “aha moment”:

I was just working on an “Easy as Pie” premium badge for Stack ‘Em. I feel like an idiot. I thought that the rows moved higher on their own, not based on my mouse clicks! I always disliked that game because it seemed like it was going too fast. It’s not! It’s me clicking away in haste! Now I can control the game better without getting severe heart palpitations!

Have you had any “aha moments” in Pogo, where you’ve realized something about a game you didn’t know before?

  1. i enjoy all the comments on here so much, thank you lura for this site. i have a favor to ask of someone, i need help understanding and playing risk. it came out when i was very busy with tax season and i am just getting around to playing it. i have never played the board game and after reading the rules several times, and trying to play with bots, i am more confused than ever. i’m afraid to sit at a table with experienced players. would someone be willing to play with me and help me understand it? my pogo name is cctax_, i’m availavle to play whenever you are. thanks.

  5. This is a complaint from alexjp9. He is upset that he has been booted from pogo for just winning a game. He has stated that he did not used any bad words and just stated good game and than was booted. He pays his money every month for his membership. He paid his membership to day and than you allow him to be booted without any question. I know that people will have you booted just for the heck of it, just because they can. you should allowed a person to see why they are being booted. This has happen to me once before for no reason. This is why I do not play spade anymore on pogo. I play on another site. This should be look into more than what it is. He deserve to been told why he is being booted.

  7. last week someone posted that the chess moves under game help would not count towards a badge anymore and that pogo had said that if someone wins in too few moves that they were cheating, blah blah blah. im here to say, that this person was inaccurate. i just did a personal chess badge using the chess moves in the help section, and it counted and i now have my badge. anyone who wants to get those chess badges dont have to worry. the moves work just fine!

  8. I went back to get Spades and Poppit tokens in the evening which I received but when I went back into them the next morning, I didn’t receive any tokens.

  10. I still see that my friend has been barred from the game for no reason and he has paid his money just like the rest of us. this is not fair to a lot of people. They get booted if they are winning the game. Maybe they should be boot from playing with the person who don’t want to play with them, not completely from pogo. this make me afraid to renew my membership. I would be very upset if I paid my money and got booted from pogo. I keep thing about how easy it is just to be booted and get no response from pogo like I don’t even exzist. that is wrong and alexjp9 need to know why he was barred.

  11. I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I went to play Lottos this morning, and just clicked the play button (didn’t really care what room I ended up in). When I got into the room there was only one player in there besides myself. They had the lottos card upto 950 tokens. The person that was in the room wanted to give me a heads up by telling me they were in a room by themselves because they had a computer virus. Is there anyway there virus would affect my computer just because someone would be in the same room with them. Didn’t know if this can happen, or if they just didn’t want anyone else in the room. The next round on the game they got the lottos card, so I didn’t know if this was true about the virus or not. Looking forward to see if anyone knows about the virus thing.

  13. GRANDMA # 11 There is no way you can get a virus by the means some idiot told you. They were just clearly being a tard.

    I am very confused by the entries by Sharlita #5 and 10 and richard jordan #4…..I have read them over again and am still wondering what exactly they are talking about….since you can’t just boot someone from a game,although making them want to leave is do-able. Maybe with more entries I will piece it together…have a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOM’S!

  14. I’ve had a couple of pogo a-ha moments but this was just the other day:

    Turbo 21–I had been playing all along trying to keep all four lanes active with cards to get my 21’s, and I didn’t have all that many blackjacks. I figured I’d be playing forever, until I finally realized, duh, there’s four aces in the deck so you can get a guaranteed 4 blackjacks if you just leave three of the four lanes clear of anything but a face card. Instant blackjacks and no hassle! It made getting that 150 blackjacks badge a cinch.

    Anyone have any tips for playing Hearts to get zero tricks? I’m quite a good spades player, but I’ve never really played hearts and found it a little confusing. Any little hints would be most welcome!

  15. Grandma#11 I think they were pulling you leg. I do not believe you can get a virus from being in the same game room as someone else who claims to have one. I did a personal for lottso a while back and most rooms were empty so I went into a empty room.

    I then realized when you are in there by yourself you can allow the lotttso card to keep going higher with each round you do not activate it. I placed 5 balls on it and tried to wait until the 9th or 10th round to activate it. It would be well over 1000 when I activated it so I was achieving a JP spin every game as well.

    I guess I just answered the weekend question as well. That was something new I learned about playing lottso by yourself. Have a nice weekend all.

  16. Grandma #11 Whoops, I forgot something to my last post. I think they were probably afraid you were going to activate that lottso card and maybe they could not and all of their work to get it so high would be wasted….so I think they fibbed.

  19. First off I want to say congrats to smilee y–. I loved your mini. I thought everyone did a great job. I hope you all had as much fun as I did.

    The special code MDAYGIFT50 is not working like it should. I could only get two items. I did go to tech support and they pulled a new one on me. They had me share my computer with them. I did make sure I cleared all my tabs…. I was not thrilled with this and I do not think I will do it again. Sad to say it went to higher ups.

    #4, 5 and #10 This is a fan club site not pogo.. I am sorry to hear what happened. I know how bad things can be with pogo.
    #4 You should check your e mail account they do send you an e mail when they remove you.

    I want to say yes i had the same aha moment in stackem. The first time I played it. I later realized duh I made it move so fast. It is the only one I can think of having.
    Lura thank you for the fun contest. I got to learn something new and will be able to use with other things.
    #1 I will be glad to play with you. I don’t know alot but played with someone else and we got the badge fast just 2 games.
    #9 try running your anti virus scan and then do a shut down. I had a problem with that not sure if this is what helped or not.

  21. I have had a few “aha” moments…

    Stack ’em – When I started playing the game I thought you could only move 1 animal at a time. I found out you could move the whole stack when I accidently moved my mouse to the wrong place. That was a big “aha” b/c it means the difference between winning and losing the game 🙂

    Phlinx – When I found that the game paused by itself when you stopped clicking on stones.

    Stellar Sweeper – When I finally figured out how the numbers worked to show you what was clear space.

    I’m sure there are a lot more b/c I never played an online game until I found Pogo, but those are the 3 that I thought of right away.

WTG smilee!! congrats on winning the 3 month pogo sub!! wtg!! to all that sent in a pic, between learning and trying to read and figure out how to submit my pic i finally got to see all your great pics and creative work, congrats they all were awsome!!! hope maybe we can have another mini contest now that i know how and will have more time to work on mini instead of LEARNING lol but i did go back and submit 2 entries just all on same link never could figure out how to do them individuly so maybe some one can give me a heads up on that, and any 1 that wants is welcome to check out my 2nd entery ya just have to click on my original link that calls out for houston lol…

    for post # 4 5 and 10… i dunno what ya mean getting booted and this is probably not the right link or setting to get any answers or help, if i was booted or banned i would go to pogo help or write a letter to the editor and see why and what was going on or maybe see if i could get a phone number and call pogo…hope this helps

    grandma# 11 i really dont think you can get a virus from being in a room some one just fed you a line in hope you would GO AWAY so they could have the room to them selves, working on badge or greedy for wins, tokens something, who knows, if im wrong but almost certain you cant get a computer virus like that some one if ya know differently please post…

  24. MomsBassettHound #21 I am a huge Meep fan and would love to finish ranking out in Stellar Sweeper as well as finishing a few personal badges I have yet to do for that game. The problem is the way I play the game is incorrect.

    I have never been able to figure out how to read those numbers. Even though I am rank 18 or so I just kinda click and guess but do blow up a lot of stuff because I am reading the numbers wrong. I have one badge where I need to win 100 perfect games. Never going to happen unless I learn how to play properly.

    Any help/hints to understand the numbers would be so greatly appreciated by Moms or anyone. Thanks in advance.

    Hmmm….I just went and bought 8 M&M’s no problem. I just couldn’t use the 50% off on the May 7 retirees.

    I’ve had lots of aha moments much like the ones already discussed. I always seem to find an aha moment after I have completed a weekly badge and then come here and read an easier way to have gotten it! Now I try to check here first 🙂

  26. My aha moment came when playing for the latest Aces Up weekly badge. I had the tendency to use the power ups almost as soon as they showed up, so needless to say it took forever to complete my squadrons. With waiting a bit, and more use of the undo feature I won more games and completed squadrons much faster.

    To help you play a perfect game in stellar sweeper use the double click. Click on the numbers using the left and right buttons on your mouse at the same time. It opens up more spaces for you. I’m not the good with the numbers but I do get mostly perfect games by playing that way.

  29. I just recently learned that you *can* use a power-up in Poppit after having popped all available balloons. Since I’m almost ranked out, I wish I found out sooner. Now I’m torn between wanting to rank out as soon as possible, and waiting until the last day of the month (when the daily 500 is no longer available). I am on rank 49, now.

    Also, what are your thoughts on the button that comes on animated minis? Did you even know what they were used for? Personally, I find that they ruin the minis.

  30. For wheatonmom44 – # 24 – If you Pogo mail me I will meet up with you in Stellar Sweeper and explain the numbers. I have to be in the game to actually explain the numbers.

  31. I will try to explain the stellar sweep numbers.
    The numbers represents how many gems that number is touching. So lets say it is #1 you know it touches only one gem. If you click on to that number it will show you all the squares it touches. If it only touches one square and no gem is shown that square is the hidden gem. You then right click it and it will show. Now say it is surronded by squares and you located the gem. none of the other squares have gems so remove them by clicking on them
    Now if it is a #2 do the same. Click on the number so you can see what squares and gems it touches. lets say it has one gem showing.. we know there is another gem hidden that touches the number2. Using the numbers around it and knowing what gems and squares they touch will help elimanate the squares that are empty and give you a clue to were the other gem is. Do this with all numbers. I hope I didn’t confuse anyone. I will try to clearify anything you might not understand.

    Does anyone have hints for dice derby. My poor badges just do not want to be gotten on this game.

  32. Thanks for bringing my question back to light. I think one person ended up answering it when I initially posed it. Of course, that’s no problem, considering we all go into interesting tangents on the weekend threads.

    The one answer I do recall was regarding Payday Freecell and how some people and how people keep on forgetting to move cards around.

    And, Heart #19, glad to see somebody had the same unfortunate heart-attack experience with Stack ‘Em. I’m glad to know that I can actually control my pace on the game now! Suz #21, I also thought you could only move one piece with Stack ‘Em. I encountered that the first several times I played it, thinking you had to get groups of five with single moves.

    [By the way, did anybody play Risk at all this morning and receive a pop-up saying that they had one entry into some type of drawing. I didn’t see any type of contest on the page header. It’s not important since I don’t play for contests, but I’m just curious.]

  33. lazaro #2 – Have been reading the Pogo forums, when Clue was released the maker of the game created a thread, people asked about the releasing of episodes. He said the next episode would be in June and then every month after that, out of every 3 episodes, one of these will be free.

  34. Okay, what the “booted” issue is about in games like spades is this. If for some reason a player gets unruly or demonstrates poor behavior, the other players can choose to boot them from the room. I only play with bots or someone I know, so, havent been a victim of this. But, many times, I have seen arguments in the lobby because a player was about to WIN and got booted, esp in a rated game, where scores of wins are more important. This usually is followed by a charge of cheating and the drama continues…I believe this is what was referred to.

    Other aha moments in Stack em involved learning how to use the ticking time bomb to get rid of large quantities of animals or stacking the 5 balls—played many games moving those dang balls around till the moment i realized that I had 5 in a stack and it ended the game with a big vacuum whoosh of all animals left. My first reaction was, what did I do? Then, I got my first jp spin and realized that was the missing link to what I needed.

  35. Aha moment… and possibly a help for next week’s Thousand Island Solitaire badge.

    I always tried to get all 3 piles exactly to 1000 when the game first came out. Needless to say, it’s pretty tough to do every single game unless you get a ton of 150 and 200 cards raining down. Then I realized that you would get a 300 card for getting a pile exactly to 1000, but only if no other pile had an affliction of some sort. So all you had to do was get one pile to exactly 1000 and the other two at exactly 700. Then you could use the 300 cards to finish up the other two piles. Now I am able to do that on almost every hand, and next week’s badge wont be too bad.

  36. Congrats to Smilee! y–! My “aha” moment happened when I found out you could redo badges for a Special Edition or other badges where you need to win 3, 4, or 5 other badges to get the Big Cahoona (ss *splng). You don’t get the redone badges again, but you get credit toward earning your desired badge, so I pick something easy and fast that I’ve already done, and…..voila! I have the desired badge in no time.

  37. Oh, just read hearts inquiry, # 25

    The biggest hint on dice derby is to read the signs on the right side of the screen. The very first round of either 6 or 9 lane games says that there are no hazards this round. So, i play with bots and try my dangest as fast as i can to get 5 sixes or 5 fives, or as close as I can in the time allotted. When they post the standing, I check to make sure I have a good enough lead. If not, I leave the room and start over.
    There is also a sign, for instance that says 3-of-a-kind pays double. Do NOT go for 4 of a kind or a full house in this round. If ya have 3 ones or better, it may beat a 4-of-a-kind in twos. Just get the 3-of-a-kind and quit. The other hint is to know when to quit. If I get a sure thing on the board, such as 3 ones and 2 twos (full house), I do not waste my time trying to get better hand as it may bring a hazard. (I hear Kenny Rogers in the background singing the Gambler, saying to know when to hold, when to fold, and when to run). There is one old pc that requires big wins on the game. This badge can ONLY be won on the 9-lap games. So, watch the road signs, let some hands stand as they are, but, super-load the very first round. And gl.

Hello everyone & happy weekend – I’ve been out all day for doc appts & so when I logged in a few moments ago, I just had to come to badge hungry…and to my surprise when I saw my mini posted…. this contest was sooo much fun Lura & ev1 had me LOL thanks ev1 for their congrats… and thanks lura for the amazing pass 🙂

    I did have an aha moment about a year ago…I’m one that just goes into a game and doesnt read the ‘how to’s….which in this case it would have been most helpful. . so I had played in EWB and could never figure out why the heck pine cones were flying around.. i just thought it was just a part of the game LOL.. and i was always discouraged thinking .. how the heck can these people get soooooo many bingoes when i would have ohh maybe 10 at the most.. until one day i was in a room alone and a friend of mine came in and they got like 20 or so bingoes. . i asked. .how the heck do u get all those and she said.. from the pine cones u sent me silly.. i had noooo clue u could use them to ‘complete’ a bingo .. they just stayed up there in the little pond.. after that it was more like an ‘ah…duuuh’ moment (insert duhhnce cap here

  41. Oh, almost forgot, this is also for hearts regarding dice derby–if it says to win 2 games in a row or 3 games in a row, this is how you do it. Once you get a win, you play the next game. If you see it is obvious that you are gonna be in 2nd place or worse–click on the X. i didn’t know this when I did mine, but, have done the dice derby for friends. It will retain your first win (AHA). If you are sure you are gonna win, carry on. It will then add this to the first win.

  42. I ranked out in Stellar Sweeper a little while ago, and have only just about now started to understand the numbers thing. I understand that “2”, means the number is surrounded by 2 Crystals, “3” is surrounded by 3 crystals.. so on. I just played it how you are, clicking away and hoping.

    For your badge for the perfect games; go to the Choose Planet screen, and play the planet “Dwarf Star” on Easy — This is the smallest planet, and therefore the easiest to get Perfect Games on. Good luck.

    Heart (#31): Some tips for dice derby: the easiest hands to go for are a full house and 4 of a kind. After you get these, most of the time it’s not worth risking a hazard to go for a better hand. Also, on the 1st lap, there are no hazards, and on the final lap, the only hazard that can hurt you is spin out, so roll away! (Go for five of a kind or a straight on these laps.) Btw, speaking of dice derby, Lura, have you heard anything about the dice derby mini awards that we heard were coming a while ago?

  45. I have so many “aha” moments.

    The biggest is discovering Badge Hungry. This site is full of helpful hints and tips from Lura, her helpers and regular BH visitors. The info on double browsing opened a whole new set of badges for me to earn! I’ve been hesitant to work on any rated badges after a bad experience in Spades. The expert Spades player was very rude and mean and left after getting the badge even though the rest of us were still working on ours. Wish I could say it was an isolated incident, but it happened every time I needed to work on rated or backgammon badges. Just my bad luck. Now I just double browse for those rated badges. 🙂

    Jungle Gin – I realized I could earn ranks faster playing a 700 gin point game. One long game was worth more points than playing several short games. Also, I could win the game faster by getting gins, not Oklahoma gins. Going out with regular gin is worth 20 pts plus your opponent’s cards.

    To make card games end faster I check the “TRAM” option (the rest are mine) which ends the game early if the remaining tricks goes to one player. I’ve applied these “ahas” to other games and always set the table to the longest games and check TRAM.

    Addiction Solitaire – You don’t need to win games for the rank, just click on the yellow cards to collect Pogo buddies. Token gifts are cursed! I try to win the game to pass the token gifts, but I need to play at least five games to gift it. Also, I notice that I don’t always get credit in Stats for receiving a gift. It shows on the bottom and in chat that “player X gave me 1000 tokens”, but not when I checked my Stats. Anyone else notice this? Not a big deal about the token gifts, but they better be keeping an accurate count of Pogo buddies earned! I need to start keeping track of them. Another thing, I always pick the top of the volcano for the Bonus Game b/c I’ll win every time it’s the top.

    A big thank you to everyone’s hints on slots games. I’ve tried them all and was able to go up a few ranks and get a gem in Ali Baba. The changing the bet amount worked the best and suddenly I got 4 genies in 10 minutes.

    Smilee #39 WTG on your big win. I laughed reading your post. I was trying to rank out in EWB but was getting so tired of the whining going on in the passing rooms. I started playing by myself and actually could get 20 to 25 bingos all by myself. I would have someone join me and I could tell they did not know what to do with those acorns. Because I would pass 5 of them and then the 6th one and on would come back to me because their pond was full and could not accept anymore. The poor souls would end up with 3 bingos and I would have 24.

    Another duh moment I finally learned that all those games I played by myself and passed those pine cones to myself did not count towards the passing badge. I was so proud of myself for ranking up all alone and passing so many pine cones to myself at the same time. But alas they did not count so I will need to play with people to get the passing badge.

    Trying to rank out in Bingo Luau for help with EWB passing badge but it will take awhile as I keep falling asleep playing that game.

    For my aHa moments, of which I have very, very many, the first one that comes to mind is when I learned to play with double browsers. I made up another account name, free member, and played when necessary with both. Then when free club membership offers came up, without credit card info, I would accept. Then I could use the other name to play at games that wern’t on the free side, to get the badges that involved the Club games.

  48. I think my biggest “aha” moment was learning that as long as the Tumble Bees letters touched one another somewhere along the line, they were playable. I played for years thinking they had to connect consecutively, as in Boggle Bash or Whackdown.

    And I won’t even tell you how long I’d been playing before I learned that your melding out points in Canasta were total, not just from one set of numbers.

    What doesn’t embarrass me to death just makes me stronger 😉

  49. Pat #41.. Does that tip also work in 1st Class solitaire? I have an old badge “win 3 games in a row”, that I’ve never been able to do. If that works, I will try it again. Thanks in advance.

  51. I have several aha moments too, but I just learned a new “aha” from Joe #35 – I never knew you get a 300 point card if you get to exactly 1000! I never really liked that game, but I will go back and try it.

    Smilie #39 – I just cracked up when you talked about leaving your pine cones in the pond for EWB! What happened when your pond got full?
    Another really embarassing thing I tend to do is watch TV and play at the same time. Much later, I discovered that someone has been trying to chat with me and I didn’t respond. I am not being rude – just OBLIVIOUS, so please excuse me!

    I do have a question – how do you get involved with the mini’s contest? It sounds like it is a lot of fun. I am more interested in seeing what everyone else came up with – not so much entering the contest myself.

  52. I have had many aha moments while playing Pogo. Here is one I recently had.

    I was working on a badge in Monopoly Slots where I had to earn 75,000 tokens. I was having fun watching the progress count go up on the side. After playing for 15 minutes I clicked the spin button again. I did not receive anything of value from the reels, but I did get a pair of dice. As my piece was moving, I noticed my progress count go up by 400. When my piece stopped on chance I had to pick from 3 cards, and lo and behold the card I picked was the 400. So this is somewhat like the jackpot spin in that the game decides your “prize” before you actually see the animations. It didn’t matter which card I chose the game was going to award me the 400. Kind of takes the fun out of playing the game a little bit. LOL

    my aha moment has been what many have mentioned before. and not sure if anyone has added this oe. in boardwalk I play in a room by myself and just play one time in each round and you get all the points.it ranks you up a little faster so you don’t have to compete for the maxium points per round. since i’m not good at boardwalk thats what i do.but of course it is boring playing by myself,but i watch tv or listen to music and it goes by.i think we might have another BHer member soon he wants to come out early he kickin like crazy lol.

  56. Re: smilee..great mini! Don’t feel bad about not knowing how the pinecones are used. I did the same thing when I first started playing, because silly me NEVER bothers to read the instructions.

    My Ah Ha moment came when I was playing dice city roller. Many times I tried to drag the dice to the appropriate card, and often they would somehow land on the wrong card. Then one day I realized that I could just click on the right card, and the dice would automatically go there. Boy did I feel stupid!. I later learned that the same thing applies to Lottso and Lottso Express. Guess I had to learn the hard way. But the most important thing I’ve learned is to READ the directions before playing a new game.

    I almost hate to admit my “aha” moment. After being a Club Pogo member for 15 months, my grandson Dan was here playing when he got his “spin” after winning the game, he stopped the spin before it stopped itself. I asked why he did that and he told me ,”Uh Grandma, you’re supposed to do that!” I just never realized you could stop the “spin”, I just took whatever they gave me. Still not sure if it helps, but he & my dgts. all say it does. I just never read the Jackpot rules as I thought if pogo wanted you to win you’d get it. Always wondered how all those folks were getting coffee mugs,t-shirts, and other stuff. Now I know, made me feel very stupid for not knowing before. Was a real “AHA” moment for me, ( and from a 13 year old)

  59. Wow I could not believe this. It was my mistake for not being able to read the promo offer fast enough. I wanted 2 badges but they were not the right ones. The expired on the may 7th date and not the June 7th date.So I just left it alone and figured cs wasn’t going to do anything anyways.
    I went to read a message and noticed my gems.. which where shy 12. I almost freaked out but looked at my m&m book and there sits the two badges I had picked out… first time I have had any luck with cs …. but it is still a mistake that I made. Not sure what to do. Maybe contact them back and let them remove the badges? Or maybe ask to pay full price? Any suggests would be nice. Go figure the one time I complain and get anywhere I my complaint was not even valid! What to do.

    For those that do not like slots. This is what I do: I always seem to do better on them the first day even first hours that the badge comes out. If I have to do it later then that I either double browse (I just started), play an hour just to wind down for bed, watch tv, or find something I had been meaning to do (not able because of being on pogo) on the computer. I find it a great time to read e-mails and look things up. I did rank out of ali doing these things. I don’t think I was ever bored. lol

And if it’s someone that is working on the badge I’ll stick around until they get it too. Just Pogo mail me with a time. I’m available all day tomorrow and most of Sunday.

    As for the badges….if you go back to customer service and offer them the additonal gems I’m sure they will say no, and then you will feel better. But that’s just my suggestion.

  64. #57 — i used to stop the spin too. all u have to do is click anywhere and it will stop. but i noticed i would get less points when i stopped it myself. so now i just let it go. i dont always get a big number but i think it works out better.

    as for aha moments, im sure i have plenty but none come to mind at the moment. might have to think about it and come back later.

Pogo has said that it doesn’t matter if you stop the spinner or not….and I believe that because in many games, if you watch your token count, it will go up the appropriate number of tokens right after the spinner starts because it already knows what it will be. So I always stop the spinner just to save time.

    My one Pogo “aha” moment so far was in Everyone Wins Bingo.

    I played quite a few games, clearing my pond at the end of each game. Then quite by accident, someone passed me a wild just before the countdown hit 0. I was sad, thinking the wild was going to be wasted, because I didn’t know they carried over from game to game. I was pleasantly surprised when it was there next game for me.

    Another tip for Dice Derby is to play with at least one other person so that you can seat hop if one of the other cars starts winning big.

    Is there a particular reason why so many people rush to either rank up or get the new weekly badge (or any badge, for that matter)?

    I like to relax and play the games at my own leisure, which, I suppose, is a personal choice. I was just wondering – some people come into the room; the first time they’ve played the game, and wonder how to “rank up”.

    Just curious, and I hope I haven’t stepped on anybody’s toes by asking

    For me I try to get weekly badges done the first day. It then frees up my time to do other things the rest of the week. Since I am remodeling my house(doing most the work myself) and starting back to work real soon, I like to just get it done so I am not worried about missing a badge. Yes, I know after 30 days I can try again but I rather spend my personal challenge doing the ones before I became a member.
    As for ranking up it gives me a goal. I would love to rank out of them all. Won’t be any time soon though, I only have 11 that I have ranked out in. I do sit and enjoy the games when I work on ranks. I play the older games which at first I had thought were boring but a few grew on me. Wonderland memories being one of them. I always look at new games and see what it takes to rank up in the game. Thanks to Lura and this site I can find that out with a couple of clicks.

  76. To Agent99 (#14) asking about hints for getting no tricks in Hearts.

    What I do is set up a private room with bots (wouldn’t want to annoy real players!) I set up for scatter passing only, where you pass one card to each player. On the pass I try to void in either clubs or diamonds, and if I have the queen of spades and less than three other spades, I pass it to the bot on my right. Then I just try to get rid of high cards as soon as I can. Being void in a suit helps with that.

    As soon as I see I’m going to take a trick, I hit the X and start over. You don’t get any tokens that way, but it’s a fast way to get those no-trick games for the badge.

    Heather (#63) who wanted tips for Euchre — I need them too! So anyone that has tips, please post them here so we can all see them! Thanks!

    No dramatic AHA moments for me on Pogo, although I’ve had most of the ones mentioned above when first starting. Like others, my biggest AHA moments have been right here on BH, finding the links to badge help and free tokens!

CMCole #74, the only time I hurry through any challenge or game play is when I may be strapped for time during the challenge week – company coming or a holiday to prepare for or (shudder the thought) some medical procedure. Otherwise, I’m with you – I play for fun. Once upon a time it occurred to me that Pogo was becoming very stressful – “I have to finish this!” “I must have that badge!” It felt like a full time job.

    I stopped feeling the need to buy every premium challenge, and although I do finish the weekly and special challenges, I don’t give the games that bore me a second thought – if I never get those rank badges, so be it.

    I banished the phrase “working on my badges/ranks/album” from my vocabulary. They’re games; if I’m working instead of playing, it’s time to step back.

  78. Good morning all and Happy Mother’s Day! I just had an aha moment. I don’t usually read the behind the scenes column on pogo but for some reason did so this morning. It mentioned EA purchased a site, Playfish!

    I quote the following from the article – “Well, Kelley’s contributions are many, and I couldn’t just let her walk out the door without sitting down for a little chat before she leaves the land of balloons and gophers for the land of Facebook restaurants and hotels!” That explained all the Facebook links and the interest in Facebook from Pogo.

    Thanks Joe #35 for your tip on Thousand Island and Pat for you tips on Dice Derby. TI will be much easier now and maybe I can clean up a few badges from Dice Derby.

    Great question CMCole #74. I really enjoy pogo very much and have ranked out only in games I enjoy playing and it has come naturally. Now the weekly badges are different. With encouragement from people in BH I am challenging myself to at least try to learn them and it has been fun. Risk was a big challenge for me but I learned the basics enough to get the badge and it felt good! LOL it takes so little to make me happy and I did get a sense of accomplishment. Some badges I’ll never get and that’s OK, not stressing over it, after all they are just games.

  79. #74 CMCole: As for weekly challenges, I like getting them quick so I can focus on other games I’m involved in. I like ranking up early on in a new game because progress is much faster in early ranks. If I achieve rank 10 or 20 in the newer games, then I can focus on the older games and the personal badges I wish to attain for future weeks.

    I don’t know if anybody has a game plan for personal badges. I do. I tend to “knock out” personal challenges for games. I’ll select a game and try to attain all the badges for said game in subsequent weeks until I got them all. Mind you, I’ve been on Pogo for about 2½ years, so I have A LOT of personal challenges left to do.

    #70 Sheljin: I’m glad my tip helped you out with WordJong. It also works with Tumble Bees. You know how the object on the bonus round is to get five-letter words? Well, since you have to click adjacent honeycombs, it’s a good thing with the wild star pieces. You may notice that you might intend to spell one word (e.g. S*UCK for ‘STUCK’) and the top of the screen will say you spelled SMUCK, SHUCK, or SNUCK. The same principle from WordJong obviously applies. The good thing is that, with WordJong, if you’re attempting to finish the puzzle (in normal game play), you can save the wilds until the end. On some games, you won’t have much of anything to spell (i.e. no vowels, or stuck with a Q and a Z) and three wilds will remedy that problem.

    Kiki #48: I had the *exact* same moment of enlightenment with Tumble Bees. I started playing that regularly in the early months of 2009 and I thought that the only valid honeycomb tiles were the ones adjacent to the last one you selected. I think I always glossed over the hints that it gives in the beginning of the game. One day I accidentally clicked on letters further away from the current honeycomb and saw that everything was still highlighted. Good show!

    Oh, and thank you all for showing me how to use the black threes in Canasta when you’re melding out. It always perplexed me until I asked the question here. Now I’m able to beat the bot on most occasions when I’m stuck with ’em. Ditto for the tip about how the bot is most likely able to pick up the deck when the pile accumulates 10 cards. If I cannot pick up at 10, a bit of strategy I learned was to toss cards that the bot just discarded and follow suit until the deck gets up to 15 – 20 cards. If that doesn’t work, I also learned that tossing out a card from a strong suit (e.g. you have a hand with six 5’s that are not played) will usually prevent the bot from picking up.

    Speaking of minis….I have to take a second to voice my dissatisfaction with these latest mini releases (at least the Moms got something new). I’m not a princess, queen, mermaid, high school student, Mom, fairy, rabbit, or any of the other creatures that have been showing up at the mall. I’m a regular person and my regular people clothes are old, tired, outdated and I am sick of looking at them. I’m sorry, I get more frustrated with each new release.

    My “aha” moment felt much more like a “DUH” moment. It wasn’t until I was almost finished with WCS that I found the passport icon to check my progress anytime. I had no idea that was there. Taught me to look around more.

    For Beth #68 Anytime I did receive the tokens in evening, I could never get them again in the morning, so for me it was always a 24 hour payout.

  83. #80 tcfox. I felt the same way when Pogo “updated” our hair without notifying anybody. One day I logged on and saw that my mini had a faux hawk. A faux hawk! When somebody asked Pogo about it in the “Letters to the Editor” column, Pogo stated that the hair was out-of-date (or something to that effect).

    Granted, I’m nowhere near the age of a senior citizen, but did Pogo even consider their audience? IMO, a faux hawk is something that you’d find on some teenage or 20-something nitwit. I couldn’t tell you the average age of a Pogo player, but I highly doubt that the community is enveloped with the faux hawk generation. I don’t know about anybody else, but I don’t step out my door to see everybody with that type of hair. It became the default style on Pogo and one had to change all their mini snapshots, since they were affected as well.

    Nonetheless, it’s just hair. Big deal. The world is not going to come to an end. However, it’s just another example of Pogo rolling out something without even considering the audience.

    #82 cocacoiakid16, I gander nobody will give the full explanation of the Pogo glitch, since exploiting said glitch would be a violation of Pogo’s Terms of Service agreement. However, you can use the “search” feature on this site (right below the ‘Categories’ drop-down menu on the right-hand side) to see past posts regarding that exploit. It was considered cheating, which allowed users to complete games/ranks faster. Pogo doesn’t authorize such use.

  85. As I play canasta (and am stuck in the Bermuda triangle where canasta used to end, ranks 45-50) I continue to find AHA moments. Sometimes, I would be building a large discard pile by using ones I knew the bot wouldn’t want , black 3s, and wilds such as 2s and jokers. At times, it was risky as the bot would put down all their cards and get a 200 bonus for using all the cards in one play. I decided to try to do what the bot was doing. All you have to have is ONE canasta and all the rest matched up. I have become better at matching everything up, keeping the discard pile locked up, and going out, getting the 200 bonus. I love beating the bot at his own game. My fav is when the final score is like 6000 to (minus) -320. It is an AHA moment for me.

  86. I just want to say that, for all the complaints we all seem to have (usually justified) about Pogo and Customer Service, sometimes they really can be helpful.

    I’ve been a Club Pogo-er for 2 years and started buying PBAs almost immediately. The first one I bought was the 10-Pack. I plowed through it quickly but could NOT manage to get 2 200 games in bowling. So it sat there unfinished for nearly 2 years. Then I got the Gift of Fun and could not get the puzzle in Treasure Hunter in 8 minutes no matter how hard I tried. Having those 2 books not done while I completed 30 others was driving me insane.

    This morning, I finally gave in and emailed Pogo. I’m all for challenging badges, but those 2 were impossible for me. I asked for help, and less than an hour later, I get an email back from Pogo Mitchell apologizing for the hard time I’ve had with them, my 4 badges and the tokens. Such a relief! I’m not one to want something for nothing, and I’ve sat for hours at a time completing badges that nearly killed me, but with the years of effort I’ve put into just TRYING to get these 2 books done, I feel like I’ve kind of earned them.

    My point is, when it comes down to it, I feel like Pogo cares about it’s members, and their CS, even though they sometimes skim your email and send you a canned response that doesn’t help at all, are helpful at times, too. I go between being happy with them and mad (mostly happy. I’m very easygoing about these things) but right now I’m delighted!

    Not a game, but it took me a year to realize we could take snapshots of our minis. I’d click the button, then I could never seem to find them after. I’m not very observant lol

    My “aha” moment was definitely finding the BH site. I was just a regular Pogo member looking for free tokens. I found this site and felt like I had won the lottery. Then I read about the Coke Rewards and started dancing in my kitchen! I was so excited! I then became a Club Pogo member with my coke habit! LOL!

    I finally ranked out in Crossword Cove today! Still working on Monopoly Slots, just one more to go on that one!

    * In Kenopop when you need to win shared bonus, just stay in the room when you walk away from your computer. When you come back and start to play again, most of the time there will be a shared bonus to try for that came up while you were away. Saves a little time.
    * In Hog Heavon Slots, took me a bit to realize that pig values was based on amount of your wager. Now, I always up my wager to the max before using a halo. Also, I didn’t realize you can often win more when using a halo strategically, e.g. to make an entire row of pigs. So now I save them and use them to maximize my token payout.
    Here’s my question: Are there really tips for better progress when playing slots? Seems like pure chance to me….

    vibirdlady #57: I didn’t realize you can stop the spinner by pushing the Stop button. I know it doesn’t change anything, but it speeds up the spin.

    Joe #35: I always thought it was random on Thousand Island Solitaire if the 300 or the Life Saver came up when you reached exactly 1000. I can’t believe we have control of that.

    I had an “aha moment” with Beaker Creatures. If you can’t find a perfect match you can undo the last move and replay the same creatures and you get 3 new ones. You can keep doing this until you get ones you want.

    Also, if you care about your stats, in some games, like Flower Daze, if you close the game with the “X”, it doesn’t count as a loss. Other games, like Aces Up! it does count. I sometimes lose my wireless connection in the middle of the game and it ruins my winning streak.

    Jst lucked out on some free pogo gems and bought a couple retiring badges. (The choice of badges by the way is PATHETIC…all the good ones are either before or after June 7th, but beggars can’t be choosers I guess). Anyways, I’m vacillating between buying and not buying the SQUARE BALLOONS badge in Poppit. My dumb Q is: How hard is it to get the 36 red dice? I still have 2 Poppit weeklies to complete from the 09 book so it seems fairly easy to ASSUME I’ll get the dice, but I have NEVER ONCE SEEN RED DICE in all my poppit playing. Since most of you have completed it, I thought I’d ask for some input. Thank you.

    #94 Andrew – I did just get that square poppit badge, and I havent started yet, but I am rank 45 on that game, and have seen plenty of red dice. You also make progress on badges like that without having to win the game, so that helps as well.

  97. Andrew, # 94, the red dice are rare, but, are there. It depends on how patient you are. That is a badge that I would play while watching t.v. or some other diversion. There are a couple of good things in your favor. First of all, if you ever decide to rank up, you may gain rank progress. Next, you don’t have to WIN the game to have the red dice count; you get credit for just releasing them. Thirdly, pogo gives you an adequate time to complete the badge–I would activate it at a time when weekly challenges are completed and I could devote some time to it. And finally, the badge is yours to keep and can be reactivated for tokens on a later date. This was an old one I reactivated once I had reached rank 29 and decided to go for rank 30. It kept me motivated toward the next rank with the small rewards. It is purely your choice, but, at 1/2 price, there will be no better offer.

  98. Andrew #94 – I recently completed the badge you’re looking at. It took me about 3 hours of playing with breaks. I’m not a fan of poppit, but if you like the game, or are already doing a weekly, you can go for it. If memory serves me there was a weekly from a few years back where you had to drop 125 red dice. So many people complained that Pogo lowered the number of dice you had to drop. It wasn’t too hard just time consuming. I can’t think of a challenge yet that outdoes the dreaded ducks though. LOL

  108. One of my “ah-ha” moments came when I realized I could play for badges I had already earned. Even though you don’t receive another badge you still receive the tokies associated with the badge. I use this during my personal challenge badge and I play games I want to rank up in , but am bored by just playing trying to rank up in games that take awhile. The fun is I keep changing challenges once I get close to getting the badge. This allows me to see action in the chat column of the game and play a little game with myself while ranking up. At the end of the week I chose the real personal challenge I want and go for it , but it is sure fun playing for the long ranking badges with this way of doing things , at least for me.

  112. For noremmy – All I can tell you is to pay attention when you get a question wrong b/c they will repeat in other quizzes. Even though I use the answers that are posted here I always try to answer the question myself and then check the answer here. That way I have a better chance of remembering the answer when I have to do random quizzes for a badge.

  113. I agree with Moms/Suz on that one in triviial pursuit. I Always read the questions and answers in TP daily. They have been repeated so many times that many are burned on my brain. In the random puzzles, there are enough of the daily Q & A s to make a good foundation. The rest are common knowledge or an educated guess. I was able to get TP in 15/15 games, although I must admit on 2 of them, I had just exactly enough right answers to complete the game.

    My aha monent was when I first started in jigsaw hunter. I could not figure out why I could not put my puzzle together. I felt so so stupit when I had to ask in the room how to get the pieces together . I found out I was on the elite and you had to click the pieces to make them rotate ,,Duh.
    That is when I found out there was games I was playing that was on hard and that was way I was not winning games some of them.Did not know there was a easy, Med , and Hard,..lol
    Lura., I been on this BH for almost a month now and I have in joy reading everyones thread and Get a lol and helpful hints. I come now everyday now unless I am not on at all.
    May I ask if someone can start a thread and post a room or two going on a day and date and time to help people with the games they are having problems with or dont know how to play I see some are having the same as I do and maybe we can all meet in a room to help each other? For those that had experimented with that neat little option, some of you have now blocked out others. Maybe you wanted to, maybe you didn’t. But IMO -Why block people when you offer your SN here for “help”? Maybe you have something to hide, maybe deep down you really don’t want to bother (with people). I for one have nothing to hide and appreciate when someone comes by to ask for help or to just visit. Sorry if you don’t all feel the same. Maybe that was just my “aha moment”.

  122. I have played many In A ROW badges and as far as I know the count for in-a-row does not reset unless you lose a game. That means that Dice Derby, Chess, Tri-Peaks, and First Class badges all keep the win count(1/3 ,2/3, etc) unless you lose a game. So by all means if you play First Class until you have no more moves and have not won then leave the room and go back. Your in-a-row count should stay.
    I did not know this when I first tried the in-a-row for First Class but it has worked for me every time in every game.

  123. #111 noreemy – Trivial Pursuit Random – If you know the answer then go ahead and click it for the total 100 points. If you don’t know the answer then you can let 1 or 2 of the choices eliminate (by letting the timer run) before you try to click for the correct answer.
    Answer in the first 5 seconds = 100 points
    Answer after 5 seconds but before 10 seconds = 75 points
    Answer after 10 seconds but before 15 seconds = 50 points
    This might just give you enough points to push you closer to the 1100 total you need.

  124. As Mother’s Day approaches, I wanted to share my AHA moment regarding that annual celebration. I was a single Mom for many years, raising my children. One year the kids were bugging me for mom’s day ideas. I told them that I didn’t want them wasting their money on flowers or candy, and a homemade card was the best gift ever. Then, I went on to say that I wished we celebrated Father’s day instead, as they got better gifts and all the tools were on sale then. So, guess what, that year I got homemade cards on Mom’s day and an electric screwdriver on father’s day. This started a tradition, oh the great tools I got, including a drill, painting tools, gardening supplies, a caulk gun, and many other things I dearly wanted. My 3 kids helped me create a truly AHA moment. And yes, My son always sends me a father’s day card, saying that i was both mom and dad to him. So, don’t feel bad about improvising in any way in all the relationships that call for you to parent a child. It truly brought us joy, and a laugh.

  125. for alan #122 backgammon is a game that is just dice and moves i dont really know how to explain it other than its a game where you wanna get ur men (lil pucks like) to home base b4 ur oppenent, with each row of the dice it shows you where u can move ur lil puck a green arrow will come up, BUT beware that is one of the games that you CANNOT play against a bot, now i have finished my badges this week but have several in that game to doand if ya wanna or can wait till this coming week i will be happy to play and we can get our badge together and i can explain a lil better in game but its kinda self explanitary as ya play…my s/n is xxbettyeboopxx if ya wanna pogo message me and do badges or if ya just want a one time game with better explanations that would be fine as well be happy to help any way i can, hope that helped some….

    I do post my name here and I tell everyone to send me a message. I do have my pogo blocked off so no one can see where I am. I do this for a reason. I have what is known to many as a stalker. “It” has taken my profile and uses it, copied my name as closely as it can. “It” stalked a very dear friend of mine also causing that person (member since 2002) to give up pogo. I have asked for a name change and any other help pogo could offer but I have not gotten anywhere with this. It has been going on 6 years now. “It” even follows me to other game sites and places. So, what I do usually is shut off chat and I have friends list already blocked. This way I can play without any problem lonely now yes but I am stubborn and will not give up my badges. I do enjoy meeting bh ers on pogo and playing. I however do not want anyone else being troubled with my stalker (like my good friend had been) So alone is where I will stay until “it” gives up. This is just my reason but I felt I needed to explain why I do have my name blocked and ask everyone to message me. If this is a problem I am truely sorry.

  130. I had the same aha moment in Stack Em when I realized that I was making the game go fast. So I am glad to see I was in good company.
    The other big aha moment I had was in Penguin Blocks. When I realized there was an undo button and that I could use it to undo my moves all the way back to the beginning of the round. Happy to say I haven’t lost a round since discovering that. And since I’ve gotten much better at the game, I usually don’t have to undo that many moves, but I still use the undo frequently to maximize my score.

    I’ve had aha moments in other games that weren’t about the logistics of the game itself, but made it easier for me to play. When Golf Solitaire first came out I really struggled with it, until I realized it was just a variant on tri-peaks solitaire. And recently I discovered something that helped me with mahjong garden deluxe. I have always had difficulty seeing the numbers on the tiles – despite having good eye sight. And recently discovered that I can change the resolution on my screen to a lower resolution – making the tiles appear bigger. I give up being able to see the chat window, but have a much easier time seeing the tiles and am enjoying the game much more now.

But I guess if we were all the same, the world would be a boring place! It has made me sad sometimes, since many of my Pogo friends are “first day-ers” and it leaves me without anyone to play with many weeks. I’m not around on Wednesdays that often and if I do get to play for a little while late at night, I often just to play one of my current fave games. I do end up letting the weeklies go for awhile most weeks — unless I start hearing that they take a long time, then I stop my procrastinating and get moving! lol I do hope that I will find some more people like me thru BH, so I might get to play with friends when I’m doing my badges later in the week.

    Frank #79 – I often use the guessing for words in all the word games. lol I just start clicking when I can’t find any words I recognize. I hadn’t thought about using the wild star in Tumble Bees that way (hoping to find a word), but you are absolutely right: often the word the game tells me I spelled is different from the one *I* thought I spelled! Duh & aha! lol I have used the wild tiles in word jong before, hoping to put something together at the end……..but that is the type of hint that I think really helps people and for some reason it never dawns on me to mention. So, ty again for bringing it up.

    I’m stilling thinking on my aha moments…….I’m pretty sure I had many of the same ones mentioned, especially Tumble Bees & Stack ‘Em. For Tumble Bees, I SWEAR I used to play it and it needed to be adjacent – are we sure they never updated the game??? lollll But I do remember when I played and realized that ooooooooh! they don’t need to be right next to the last letter. lol Same with Stack ’em. I generally always read the How To, but some things I guess I just miss or they don’t make an impression on me. But I guess the combo of the sound effects and the movement upward always makes me feel rushed – I always have to remind myself to just stop and it will stop. lol

    Adding my own thoughts on minis & general pogo stuff: I wish they would take some time just to fix the things they never fix, or update some things that are never updated. You don’t have to put anything truly identifiable in there if you don’t want to. Anyway, I asked a girl once where her badge was from, because her profile was marked “private.” She was stunned – she hadn’t realized it was marked that way. So, everyone — double-check and make sure you haven’t inadvertently privatized yourselves! lol

    So, in the same spirit that you just may not have realized what you did: if you just found the Block-everyone-but-Friends feature for your Friends List, please be aware that it actually works. lollll Offering your screen name here for help, but having your profile set to that setting, doesn’t allow anyone new to see you or find you.

  137. Tailte #132, Since you brought up Majong Garden Deluxe, do you ever use the “undo” button on there? When the game first begins, I look very quickly right when the tiles are stacking in order to find the gold key tiles. I try getting those quick so I can get the bonus of +100 tiles without digging through the piles in search of matches. I’ll try to use the lightning bolt tiles to clear out the ones next to the keys in order to finish the rank quicker.

    Diana #103. If you’re looking for more clue tips, check out the entry on Badgehungry about Clue. Several contributors to the post placed tips on gameplay in there. I’m rank 23 on the game right now, since I’ve found some surefire ways to win against the bots.

    I did discover another trick to that game I’ll share. When you’re placing pieces in the beginning, try to reinforce next to areas where the “enemy” is. However, don’t place too many because the bots will also heighten their troops to that same area. If they are first to attack, the chances of you losing are very high (they have three dice to roll with, compared to your two). Instead of reinforcing right next to the enemy, try to place a bunch of troops BEHIND the next adjacent territory you own. That way, when you finish your attacks, you can call those reinforcements to the front of the line and ambush the enemy on the next turn.

    [If that doesn’t make any sense to some people, I can probably try to devise some screen shots.]

    Beth #68, I chuckled at your comment about waiting for badges to be on sale for Mother’s Day. My parents were around during the Great Depression and I have what I hope is a totally irrational fear of becoming a bag lady in my old age. Anyways, I tend to be thrifty – okay, downright cheap! – and wait until badges go on sale or are about to exipre. So I was disappointed earlier in the week when the May 2009 badges were about to expire and there wasn’t a sale and I had to pay full price for the ones I wanted. But two days later, I was very happy to get the June 2009 badges on sale!

    One of my aha moments came while reading this week’s comments. I’ve smugly sat back as others asked for help on badges in rated games, etc. The weeklies were so quick that I decided to catch up on some unearned M&Ms and AHA! I still have to do the Spades ranked badge and Euchre badge!

    Another aha moment came when I activated a Dominoes M&M that needs 30 250 pt games to win. AHA! I should be more careful when purchasing badges. I don’t even like dominoes!! (Only 18 more games to go)

    And finally, I learned that it pays to speak up in chat sometimes. I met 3 BHers playing WordJong this week simply by asking if one’s icon indicated she was a BHer.

    Just wanted to say that I was looking through the events calendar on Pogo and there is a Friday nite, think it is June 4th, with a game nite scheduled for Clue.     #147 Joann~some of the new Pogo Expressions have a very limited time they’re good for~like a week IIRC and others are permanent. I wish we could use them in some way~if I’m missing out on how to use them I hope someone will clue me in LOL

    In WordJong, if i have problem letters early I use a wild to get them out of the way. Found I can get about 5 or 6 wilds in each hand, so always have wilds left at end. Less stress to finish hand .

    tcfox #80 – I mostly agree about the mini items, and I also have little to chose from. Also not many are for tokens. [Tho I thik it’s great with Pogo producing all the BB stuff, and children mini items (which is cool b/c people asked for more options there), they seem to be focusing on gem items.]

    Now that there are about 6 pages of BB, and 8 or 10 pages of children, I’d like to see a separate section or sections. I have to scroll thru all these pages to see what they have b/c other items are mixed in. But anyway….

    Chess – my recollection of that post a few weeks ago was that it was about ‘too few moves’. There is a 5 or 6 move short game that can be played, and the one here in sidebar is 11 moves; so I am guessing they made the ‘cut off’ around 6 or 7 moves – which is fair because thats simply not a realistic game. So if I am guessing right, you will continue, as others have said here, to be able to use the sidebar moves with np.

  154. heart # 131 I know what you mean it has been over a month since my name was spoofed and I cant get pogo to close the spoofed account as a result I cant display my mini or any badge easy to get as then it can be copied I have been updating my question every 48 hours and yes I get the same crap computer generated answer but I figure maybe if I just annoy them enough lmao. But I do have to have the option let only friends see where I am so the spoofed account cant follow me. And like you say if someone needs help they can still pogo mail and you can add them. WTG SMILEE for winning the mini contest and Happy first Mothers Day to Lura. Happy Mothers day to everyone else too. Unfortunately I have ahh and duh moments quite often and recognise quite a few in your posts. Hagn all.

    I’d have to agree — tcfox , shel, and sog. The mini mall needs a new clothing designer along with 1 maybe 2 new category tabs should do it. I wasn’t to fond of the new “high school” stuff, I just forgot that my age group aren’t the only ones that , shall we say “hang out” most of the day on Pogo, high school kids do play pogo and they deserve stuff too after all a prom is a big deal. But the best I saw with that high school mini stiff was this last “Amazing Mini” Event. This person took the prom stuff and made a “Senior” prom pic titled “What? It IS the Senior Prom!” Love people that think outside the box. Never in all my years of being involved with planning such a gathering did I ever think of a high school prom as a `Senior Prom’

It was my error I accidentally hit “block” on the friends page instead of hitting send message to someone and I kinda got chewed out for it when they used another name to find me. This person did not know “me” so to say, I tend to type as I speak and have been told at times sounds sarcastic: But if you know me, I am far from a sarcastic person.

  156. alan #122 – you English make the English language beautiful.

    Usually like to take my time on challenges, but couple weeks ago I got sidetracked and didn’t complete my personal, silly me. However…

    got my 100th badge this week, YAY, 1st milestone, he he. Then also realized 50 of the badges are Jigsaw Treasure Hunter. Played that constantly as free Pogo member, and got 1000 tokens for each pzl, I ranked out and didn’t know until I became a Club member that there was all those badges, so it was a surprise.

    Aha moments are all the time for me. Most recect I recall is that I played a WordJong challenge couple months ago – now in WJ again and it still took me a game and a half to figure out the acorns. I just forget I guess.

    Oh and I also wish we could go private in ANY game (bowling!).

    I took a drive this weekend – I used to love that. 🙂

  157. Just trying to catch up w/ all the posts on here b4 Lura closes down. Hope all had a Great Mother’s day. I definately did! My daughter/family from SC came up so I almost had all of my family( 4 married children, 12 grandchildren, 8 which are married and 12 great-grand children) here. My oldest grandson is SS in the Army w/ 13 years of service. He and his family(wife,3 children) weren’t able to be here. He is now a recruiter, he was injured while in Iraq on his last deployment there. Not sure if he will be returning now that he’s better but he was Very,very lucky that his injury was not as serious as most of his buddies. I pray that all the Mothers who are serving our country were able to have a peaceful Mothers Day. He missed 4 Father’s days while serving over there. Lura, do you know if any of our military are members of BH? Memorial Day will be here very soon and I would like to say “Thank you to all of them.”

  159. I thought of another small “aha moment”. In Phlinx one of the Power Stones is “Stone of Change” which allows you to put a stone of a particular color anywhere on the board. If you put it in the side Stone Holder and take it out again the color changes. You can keep doing this until you get the color you want. A small thing but it can be helpful.

  160. Ty for all who commented on my story of Mom’s Day AHA. I do have wonderful children. I just spent several hours with my daughter and her brood of five who live in the same state, washington, wih me. The little one, 21 months, pushed the door open on the bathroom and asked ” Pee pee, Nana? ” Yes, he is learning. When I said I was done, come in, He replied enthusiastically “Good job, nana!” Out of the mouths of babes.
    Now, I am getting ready to call my son in PA, who will be with His sis and family in NJ for dinner. So, hope everyone had as nice a day as I did. Also got a good dose of Vitamin D walking on the waterfront. Sure felt good and the Coldstone Creamery ice cream was a great topper.

  162. Well wtg, there were many completing CC and other ranking badges. There were also those asking for hints who were also able to get some badges that had been eluding them. GG on completing those long or stubborn badges. BH has been a wonderul place to get help and it is especially nice to have someone to help with rated games, since you can’t play with bots. I do so enjoy all the comments, all the well wishers and encouragement. Truly a nice weekend, and I look forward to it every week. Thanks, Lura.
