Pogo Philler in Development

Pogo’s working on a new game called Pogo Philler. We have no other information at this time than the name; we have no idea what kind of game this will be, but it should be in testing phases soon.

As usual, we’ll keep you posted the very second we hear details about this new game. In the meantime, want to speculate? Leave a comment below!

  1. I think it is going to be a word game, like maybe word whomp but you have to fill in the spaces, get it fill, phill…oh well….lol…we will see

  2. Hmm tough one. I don’t think the name gives us much to go by here lol.
    I will guess a new card game or casino game. We have had new puzzle games and new word games already.

  3. I think so too, Jummy……..cuz the first thing I thot of was Phil, the groundhog that we hope sees his shadow on groundhog day, lol lets see if we are right!!!! I hope so, I love word games!!!

  6. I’m not sure about this one. I don’t think it’s a casino game, since they haven’t added to that group in months. Most of their newer games are puzzle ones (puck’s peak, flower daze, etc.), so it will probably be another one of those. Something related to beaker creatures, maybe?

  7. My guess would be something like the old arcade game Qix… the goal would be drawing lines to box off and fill in as much of the screen as possible while trying to avoid getting hit by obstacles flying around.

    Maybe philler is a game that you fill something with balls..there’s a game named filler that does that. BUT with pogo…who knows?!?

  15. Hmmm…it does seem like it’s too close to just be a coincidence, but I REALLY hope the game badlokii linked is not the game coming to Pogo! I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough. Now that Clue has been released, there’s nothing on the beta site, and it seems like they try to have at least one game up for testing all the time.

  16. Wow — that is like Reverse Poppit! Too funny. That may be the game though. The balloons are certainly no stranger to Pogo!

  17. I think it a hot air balloon with letter. I think you buste the ballon and make letter before the balloon go away. I am not sure.

  18. Thanks badlokii for the great find! The game seems entertaining to me, and it should be pretty fun to work on getting better at it. It seems like one of those that people will call juvenile just because they’re not instantly good at it lol (see weekly challenge thread)… oh well, back to slots for them. Looking forward to it!   19. I googled “philler game” and it said did you mean “filler game” and had a game where you have to fill 2/3 of the screen with balls avoiding the bouncing ones:

  20. badlokii and caren may have found the new game for pogo because both games are so similar. Of course, pogo will make it better through beta testing and redesigning the overall concept.

  21. A little birdie told me that Philler is going to be tested soon! The name “Philler” is probably just an internal development name, it’ll most likely change before release. Also, the balloon-filling prototype seems to be close to the right idea: right now the game’s objective is to fill balloons and hurl them at attacking aliens.

    I’ll write up a full post as soon as I get some more concrete details, and maybe a screenshot or two! 🙂

  22. Yes Philler will be on beta later on today so says Pogo Beta Brent. I was told from a friend who is one of the testers. Sounds like an interesting game alright. Will keep you on your toes I bet!

  23. This game sucks worse than pucks peak they must think we are all 5 yrs old. Good thing they don’t charge gems cause no one would buy it

  24. Given that no one has seen the game yet much less played it, I think it’s a bit premature to blast it to smithereens. Never know what sequins and shoe polish Pogo might add, or even if it’s the same game at all.

  26. I know I am not supposed to talk about what’s in beta. But I have a confession to make. When people shared their feelings about Puck’s Peak and I said that Pogo makes games for everyone and we shouldn’t complain about Pogo’s games, I was wrong and I ask for forgiveness. Philler is the dumbest idea and the most juvenile game. I can’t even imagine any person playing that game and saying, “Ooh, I think I will subscribe to Pogo!” Honestly, if this game doesn’t get out of testing, we’d all be better off.

    And if anyone disagrees with me, I’d be happy I’m in my own little world.

  27. The game is up on the beta site right now, and I must say I’m not a fan. It takes too long to get to the point goals at the end of each round. The graphics are cute though, and the game is fairly easy. We’ll see what happens.

  28. Besides, even if the game does end up being a bit “kid-like” – I don’t know if it will – it really doesn’t have to be seen as a bad thing. I think it’s good to be young at heart. Just my opinion, of course – but I got tired of seeing Peak’s Peaks being derided as “childish”, and seen as a bad thing.

    Anyway, this sounds like one game I would be interested in.

  30. I kinda like it but…… I think once the newness wears off it will be put on the back shelf along with Poppit and a few others that I got bored with.

    Poppit was the game that brought me to Pogo when my sis told me how fun it was)

    I’m not thinking much of many of Pogo’s new releases.. Seems like they’re trying to pump out too many, too soon and not taking proper time and effort over them, IMO. Then, the best game has the downside of ‘you have to buy gems to play the whole game’… lol.

  32. Wow I am kinda surprised that so many people dont like it. I am a tester as well and everyone i have played with in there has loved it. I think i played for 2 hours without even realizing the time had gone by so quickly. You blow up balloons to kill aliens. If the aliens touch your balloon before you finish blowing it up the balloon pops and goes away. There are 4 rounds in each game, first round your goal is 500, second 1500, third 4,000, and the last round 9,000. I do think the last round takes too long to get to the goal, but the harder the skill level you play the faster you get the points to meet each rounds goal.

    I understand everyone has their opinion on things, but i think you just have to give them some credit for trying to come up with new games that other websites dont have. (or at least trying to put their own twist on a game to make it different) I mean it cant be that easy, and if you dont like the game…well then just only play it when theres a weekly badge involved. Thats what i do for Flower Daze, I’m not a fan of that one.

  35. Thanks for all the feedback from our testers! Much appreciated. I worry about you all though – if Pogo’s beta tester deal was for you not to share, don’t want you getting in trouble. Hope you all go the “mystery tester” name route, or that you are posting under a name here that isn’t similar to your testing name, since Lura has said this website is read by Pogo Peeps. lol Thanks again, though – love the scoop.

    PS – Penguin #35 – I could use a little Poppit revenge about now, since I’m still working on a 4000 prize badge. lol And, was it just me, or does it look like yet ANOTHER Poppit badge in the May PBA icons Lura posted?? Eeeeeek.

  36. OMG! Lura just posted the shots of Philler. It reeks of absolute cuteness with those animal balloons! It’s so nauseating that I want to hug my monitor.
