With the Word Search badge you can save yourself some aggravation by choosing the calendar day you want to play. If the word list you get doesn’t contain a blue Gift Word, click New Game and then choose Play Daily Puzzle. It’ll reload the puzzle. Repeat until you get a Gift Word. I suppose if you’re really in a pinch for time you could also hit new game once you’ve found the Gift Word, but you won’t get credit towards ranks.
I’ll be in the Men’s Room in WSD for a while this morning. 🙂

I wonder why they chose two word games this week. It seems to me that there is usually a bit more variety between the two badge games.

Hi everyone. For WSD, Lura’s comments work. You can also change the difficulty level back and forth. Go back and forth between easy and medium. As Lura said, click new game and choose daily, or you can click on calendar and pick the day you want.
Also, if you think you might want to do it daily, the puzzles are archived for 6 months. When the new month comes, the 6th month in the past goes away, so start there, rather than the most current.
Took about an hour, give or take.

i finshed the word search badge. i used the randon puzzle… hit new game and look for the blue words (missing letters) it was easy.. i used
easy leval there are more on the higher levals .. good luck

Happy Wednesday all! TYVM for the hint for Word Search, Lura! Again, I’m gonna ask about personal badges. Why does it say “You have not won this badge YET” under personals, when, in fact, I HAVE won it thru M n Ms or specified games for the week? Is there any easier way for me to go thru all my badge pages to see if I’ve already gotten it or not? I want new badges and the full token count, too. This has been perplexing me for months, now. Any help is very much appreciated. :-D. GLA this week on all badges n GB. Carol

It was nice spending time with a few of you this morning while I worked on my badges. 🙂 I’ll be popping in and out of M rooms for both Boggle and Word Search as the week goes on; I hope you guys can find some friends to play with even if I’m not around. Yay!

Carol: your question is a little off-topic and probably better suited for a weekend open thread. More people read the comments from a weekend open thread than a weekly challenge thread and you’ve got a better chance of getting your question answered there. For WS: My hint would be if you are having trouble seeing the letters, go down a difficulty. Hard is near impossible for me to make out (and my eyes are not THAT old) but easy is super large.
Also, has anyone mentioned the double click to highlight all the letters yet? My roommate walked in on me and said, “Hey, I didn’t know you could do that!” I figure it is worth repeating. Double click, say an “A” and all the As in the puzzle light up until you select a word. GL all.

good luck with badges all.. Got mine very quickly but unfortuately couldn’t get in any of the m rooms.. Got a late start and rooms were full. It is a great idea though.

Lori: I think the rooms are just going to be full on badge days, so maybe assigning rooms for challenges might not work out best in the long run. I’ll re-evaluate after I see how this week goes. I could also assign just one room per game, or instead just give a time for a social or meet-up later in the week when the rooms won’t be so full, but my schedule isn’t such that I know I’m going to be free at any given time right now and I don’t want to create an event and not be there to get things kicked off right. We’ll see.
Out of curiosity, did any of you meet up when I wasn’t around? If you meet up with someone later this week please come back to let us know — the more feedback I get the better. Thanks 🙂

Gecko – I’ve found that you can right click on a letter in WS and all the same letters will light up. Either double clicking or a right click will do the trick.

Hello everyone, Im so far behind Ill never catch up LOL~plan was to get my morning things done and then come and play~well that didnt work out cuz Ive not been to pogo at all today. I think the Word Search badge is going to annoy me. I usually play it daily, but when I saw this badge was coming up, I stopped for a couple of weeks. Just played the last 3 days, and no gift word. The game is not that thrilling that I want to play the same one multiple times when I actually find one with the gift word. (By the way, do all players get the same gift word, never really thought about it.) Looking forward to Boggle, though. Good luck all.

This weeks challenges, again, way to easy. Had both done in less than an hour. The trick for Word Search is set it on easy and click through the Random puzzles until you find the ones with the gifts. Look forward to next weeks when both challenges are going to take some time.

Lura: Good tip on word search!
Room hopping would probably be a good idea for boggle (jump to different rooms after it updates ur badge progress), though you won’t get any jps’s. This one should be easy (I got 18/100 on my 1st round.)

Linda #13. I too saw WS coming up and didn’t play for about 3 weeks. I let the game play as usual (going backwards through my missed days) but if there wasn’t a gift word in the list I kept hitting new game until there was. I didn’t have to play any same day twice.

For Word Search, sometimes changing difficulty brings up a ‘gift word’. Just keep plugging away and thank everyone in advance for bonus tokens (so no one’s feelings get hurt).
Boogle Bash was crazy easy. I am not the best at it, but it took less than 3 full games. And everyone remember to type BADGE at the first of every round. You never know, the elusive BADGE badge might be hiding.
Working a Stellar Sweeper from last year…this WILL take a while.

I won about 12 word search gift words and it was taking forever.
Then it dawned on me to start pressing the new game button, and when I mentioned it to the room I could almost hear a collective groan–looks I was a little dimwitted to take so long to figure it out.

Agree with PPs that this week’s badges were easy and quick. I’ll have to remember this next time we get a really long one (I see 6s coming up on Yahtzee, oh boy)!
I got a couple of Boggle arrays with no “e” so that one was very fast. Lura’s suggestion worked great for Word Search (thank you!). I also picked a quick personal badge, so all is done. Which is good, considering the heavy work load I have at the moment!
I didn’t see anyone today in the M rooms, but then I don’t remember people’s screen names very well. How are we identifying ourselves in M rooms? Something like, “Anyone else here a BH fan?” (Lura fan?) I was not sure what to say.

DebbieSLP: well, if I’m there you guys will know it from my screenname (and no, it’s not badgehungry…). I’ll leave it as a secret to all but those who bother to find me in a room, but let me just say you’ll know it’s me without question. 🙂 Otherwise, maybe “any BadgeHungry folks here?” or “anyone from BadgeHungry here?” or something like that? I’m fairly talkative in rooms in general, but I’ve been saying “are any of mah peepz here?” which doesn’t get any LOLs but I’m LOLing to myself anyway.

Another tip for word search: don’t forget about the hint button. It will find one word for you, and is helpful for finding shorter words. (You just won’t get tokens for the word you used it on.)

Just want to make sure-did you get the weekly badge or did you get a game award? The game awards are the state names-you get a new one every 30 games. Just want to make sure you got the right badge!

Oh, and one more thing, #18 KodiacCub reminded us to check for the Badge Badge, by finding the word badge in Boggle Bash. There is also a badge for a 10-letter word! I finally got it at the beginning of this week. You have to be lucky and get a good board, but they are there!

I was about two and a half months behind in Word Search Daily – but when I was caught up, I still needed four more gift words. I then just kept clicking daily puzzle until I got one with a gift word in it, then I would complete it. Thankfully, the stats dont count losses – and I know some games dont consider it a loss, if you never even started playing it.

Ive been walking into rooms asking, Any BHers here? even if there isnt, Ive gotten a good conversation going about how great a fan site this is and a great community. (Since people usually ask what a BHer is.) This has been one of the most friendly and positive challenge weeks for me – lots of good people talking, even if Ive only run into 1 or 2 other BHers.

Progress granted for replaying completed puzzles confused me a bit. I thought they were referring to in-game badges (i.e. 30-day badges). If that were the case, Id have been playing this repeatedly on purpose for the next week.
But then it dawned on me a couple minutes ago that Progress granted for replaying completed puzzles refers to THIS WEEKS badge — not overall game progress.

Well, Lura, i am still giggling about what I thought I read this morning.
As usual, I turned puter on, went to BH, pulled it up ..then, was passing by to put coffee on and glanced at the screen. I had to slow down and read it again. Cuz, at a glance I thought you said youd be in the mens room for a while…what?, dang!, I really do need that coffee to get my synapses firing. Anyway, I agree, badges were not hard and I too am dreading the 666 badge in yahtzee next week. 6 yahtzees of 6 s, in 6 days , geez, dont like the numbers, lol. Last time i needed the MnM in yahtzee, it was for ones (1)–do you realize how horrible your score is if you are purposely trying to get 5 ones? I waited till late at nite, went into an empty room, and tried ONLY for 5 ones in every frame, I accidently got some straights, etc, but sometimes had scores like 53…
at least 6s are a little better to blend into scores with. And, yes the one who got the WSD badge with only 13 may need to go check the home page to see that it says completed as it may very well be the completion of a game award badge as mentioned….

The Boggle badge went pretty quickly for me. I played no more than 2 full games on each of my 2 usernames to get it. I wonder how people would have reacted if Pogo had made the requirement 500 or even 250 words. Either way, it all seems very doable.
Even though I’m done with my badges, I’ll still be hanging out in the M rooms as I find time. This might be a good week to catch up on Word Search puzzles, lots of token gifts flying around too!
Gecko: I am so glad you’re having a good time this week. I hope others do too! I’ve had a similar experience: I’ll admit I have several Pogo accounts and the one I use for BadgeHungry (btw, see my note to PogoFan below heh) only got used to help people with badges, which means it doesn’t have a lot of tokens (uh 800k) or badges (maybe 10). It’s really nice to be able to work on bumping those up and get to know people here (and new people too) better in the chat rooms. 🙂

Rick (#23) I’m up to speed on game award badges, but this one I got at 13/20 WAS the weekly badge. Surprised the heck outta me. Also…it didn’t stop there….at 74/100 I got the Boggle Bash badge….I need the googly eyed smiley from the rooms to insert here…..Pogo DEFINITELY was being more than lenient with me yesterday. I’ll pay for it next week with the marathoners I’m sure…..lol.
Hope all are having an easy time this week. Get out your PROTECTIVE ARMOR for next week….we’re gonna need it!!! lol

I think “Anyone badge hungry?” would be a great way to announce our arrival in a chosen topic room.
The Boggle Bash badge went really fast. I took my time with Word Search Daily. Since I’m not a regular player, I was able to go back to September and use the calendar games. I went up three ranks while I was playing.
I guess I’m just one of those Pogo crazies who would like to see the weekly badges be more challenging (of course not as bad as 2009 Tri-Peaks… haha). It seems that when I select a personal badge from the early years, they are definitely a challenge. This week I chose a Majhong Garden badge that you have to match all the season tiles in 24 games. Oh, well… I have a week, and it’s gives me an excuse to play something other than my faves.

I like your idea Kathe about announcing Anyone Badge Hungary? I was in one of the rooms yesterday and someone said hello from BH – said they recognized my name – cool, huh? Anyway, as I am working on my Word Search, I have been announcing what calendar dates have the puzzles that count toward the badge. I had to go all the way back 4 months because I was so behind! I will continue to do that, so look for me in an “M” room if you are still working on your badge.

The blanks show up randomly on any day. I keep going back to the calendar and reopening the same day until I see a blank. I’m just moving through the month so I get credit for the game badge too.

I love word games so I love the badges this week. But, I have one of those dumb questions to ask. I know I have offended people in WSD because I do not know when someone sends me a gift. Some will say “yw” to me and I had no clue they sent me a gift. How do you know? I know when I send but I do not get a message or anything that someone sent it to me. So, I have been just thanking everyone for gifts when I leave the room. Is it me or does anyone else have this problem?

The name of the gift-giver does show up but does so rather quickly. If you click directly below the grid of letters, the last person to give you a gift will pop up ( their mini will show up where list of players in room is). Hope this helps.

WSD will announce when someone gives you a token gift along the bottom of the screen, but it is brief. You might miss it if your eyes are on the puzzle. It does not seem to show up in the chat box like some other games.

Is anyone having trouble with Word Search? I’ve tried all morning, but keep getting a message that says there aren’t enough words.???? I’ve tried several rooms, logging in and out, but nothing helps.

On word search Daily, I found it to be MUCH FASTER to be on any date to click between easy and med back and forth til BLUE word appears rather than start new game til you get BLUE word.

I just got the Word Search badge. Thank you Rock ( #44 ) for the tip on finding the gift word by clicking through the levels til you see a gift word.
Boggle Bash was easy, after you find a word try adding an S or spelling the word backwards.

It would be nice if I could actually log INTO the pogo site – I have been having this issue the last week or so. Luckily I got the 3 badges for the week already but its annoying.

Finally got in, at least today it was just for an hour or so.
To whoever mentioned the issue with Word Search – I went into a room to try for another WSD badge and I got the not enough words blah blah message popping up over and over. Eventually managed to click on next game and chose random and its been fine since then, so good luck with it.

Re: How to recognize each other in game rooms. What if everyone here posted their screen name. Then we all add to friends list. When we enter a room pogo tells us if any friends are here. When friends type it shows up in red. And pogo tells us if a friend enters or leaves the room.
Downside: Does everyone except me already have more than 200 friends?

Sal: besides the limitation of the size of the friends list (which I’m pretty much up against at this point myself), not everyone is willing to post their Pogo screenname in a public forum that can be accessed at any time by anyone for as long as this site might exist. 🙂 Some of you are fine with that, but even I’m not entirely comfortable with the idea for my own account(s).
I’m looking into choosing a few easy-to-obtain chat icons that we can use to identify one another, but I still think the best practice is to simply say hi and start conversations. 🙂
