This week’s Letters to the Editor let out a little surprise: Stratego may be coming to Pogo in the future. Undoubtedly this would be under the same Hasbro agreement that’s already brought us Scrabble, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Boggle, and Battleship; and will bring us Risk and a Clue hidden object game soon.
And while we’re on the topic of games that may be coming soon: there’s currently a rumor floating around that Uno may be in the works, but we have no evidence to back that up (probably a rumor based on community desire, rather than Pogo actually ever mentioning it).
Do you think Stratego is a good choice for Pogo’s current player base? What other Hasbro games would you like to see Pogo create?

Stratego is a fabulous board game …. used to play it a lot! If ppl like battleship, they will also like stratego imo.
Ban says
Looked it up in Google Images, Looks fun, but complicated lol.
Dan13 says
I played Stratego years ago and found it to be fun but got old fast like checkers, it’s not a game you would want to have to play overly much to rank up in. Otherwise it is ok, much like battleship in hiding peices but with a statigic dimention.
As to other games, I would kinda like to see EA revive M.U.L.E. It was a big success back in the VIC-20, C-64 days…. and it was produced by EA so there should not be a license issue.

look at the post for pogo bret 🙂
unos in the works it looks like

john: I don’t agree at all. It looks to me like Pogo_Bret used that forum (probably inappropriately) to see if Pogo chat emotes work in the forums as well (clearly they do not).
Back to Stratego talk!

I have never played Stratego so it would be a new experience to me.
My vote also goes to UNO for a hasbro game. I also love Mancala and Mastermind so it would be cool if pogo created games similar to those someday too.

How about adding more badges for Word Whomp Whackdown – after all it took forever to get past the 1,000,000 (it seemed that many) Zucchini levels! Pogo got it right with Tri Peaks Solitaire it seems. Noreen

I am not familiar with Stratego, but hey, Ill try anything once. As for adding ranks on older games, Id love to see mini golf madness dice city roller updated. I have ranked out in both these games really enjoyed playing them.

Lura, There are a few games that I think need revamped that are in badge challenges, but you get no Pogo extras from them. Euchre, Cribbage and Hearts. They are all great games but really need some sort of updating to make them more enjoyable. Does anyone else agree with me or have another game to add?
Josh says
mini golf madness needs no updating they just released it. Pool needs ranks! No stratego for now!
malinda says
I would like to them to add uno.I think keno pop needs more ranks. And I think pool needs ranks.

I’ve never heard of this game. Is it like Dungeons and Dragons? Our oldest sun enjoyed that for a while… Oh… He’s now 36… LOL If it is complicated, I doubt I’d try and play it on Pogo
Dale S says
I have been praying and praying for a Stratego style game or Stratego itself to come out… I know I WOULD play it to death LOL
Oh and yes…. I definitely agree with dan13…. M.U.L.E. would just be a dream to see and play again… LOVED that game

I think that the appeal of games like Battleship or Stratego must be fairly limited – we’re talking about vintage games, niche games, and in Stratego’s case, a game that hasn’t particularly thrived. I don’t think either game will be likely to be much of a draw for people over the long run, and I’m disappointed that Stratego is being considered, frankly, when I have been longing for Fairy Godmother Tycoon 2 for over a year!
In my experience, since I was young when both Battleship and Stratego were very popular, I would say that both games were limited in their appeal – mainly for boys. (Again, this is my experience – I did play Battleship with my cousins, but it was never as popular with us as good old Monopoly). Whereas a game like Life or Monopoly have sold consistently for many years and appeal to a broad age range, so it would make more sense to me for Pogo to develop games in that vein.
A game like Candyland, for instance, has sold well for sixty years. Yes, Candyland is for children, but just think about how exciting Pogo could make the gameplay, with different levels of difficulty, etc. The mini costumes (Queen Frostine, Gramma Nutt) and backgrounds (Chocolate Swamp, Gumdrop Mountain) would be adorable and light-hearted.
In general I think that Pogo suffers from a lack of group games. As I’ve developed a group of Pogo friends, I find that Monopoly and Word Riot Deluxe are the ONLY games where the four of us can play at once. Certainly we can join in at the same game room in any game, but it’s not the same, as we’re not competing against each other. (If you know of any multiplayer games I’ve missed I’d love to know).
I am looking forward to more games that allow four players. Word Riot Deluxe in particular is waning! Sometimes only one or two game rooms have any players at all, and it is a shame because the costumes and gameplay for Word Riot Deluxe are just fantastic.

I was not aware of a game named Stratego until i began reading these posts. I have to agree with what some ppl have said that pogo should focus more on the older games, like fixing gliches or up grading them rather than adding all this new stuff anf having ppl complain to them about whats not working right.
Serena says
Spades, Hearts, and Euchre are all games that allow four players. I also second the motion for Candyland. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little “kiddie” stuff, and it would make for great mini items.
I’m not familiar with Stratego, and I have yet to try Battleship. I used to play the latter, when I was younger.
As some of the others said, I would prefer for them to focus on upgrading older games.
Deborah says
I love the idea of Uno; maybe even skip-bo would be good card game 4 could play
Tanman02445 says
People don’t seem to be aware, but before Hasbro came out with Battleship it was a game that kids played in school with pencils and graph paper, wispering there hits so teacher would not hear.
Frank says
I’d enjoy seeing the game of Life as a pogo game. Your uncle left you a skunk farm! Pogo would be able to adapt that as a Monopoly-style board game. Granted, Life would probably take an hour to play, so that would be a drawback since most games take less than 15 minutes to play.
Steph says
Personally i myself think UNO or skipbo would possibly do a little better on the pogo site…. but then again I have known to be wrong…….
Ban says
@Frank
But with fun graphics, life would be worth playing 1 game in an hour LOL.
I sat and played the Disk Life game for 2 hours for 1 game of it, just because it had fun graphics!

Stratego sounds like another dud to me. I didn’t care for it much when I was a kid.
The problem for me with most of these Hasbro/Pogo releases is that they haven’t translated well to the computer (just my opinion). I’d rather physically hold the Yahtzee cup in my hand to shake the dice, or stick the little peg in the board in Battleship (instead of clicking things with my mouse).
AND..
I can’t throw the Monopoly board at my sister because she steals from the bank or annoy my mom by excessively pushing the Trouble button LOL!
Ban says
@Serena
But the people are not listing “Old” games, most are listing ones that are only a few years at the most old.
I think newer games bring a bright side to Pogo (If they are Hasbro and they are good; example: Battleship)
I think games like Clue, Life, Uno.. will bring more life to players on Pogo especially if any of the ones i listed are free players, it might attract people to join club for the badges/ranks.
I also believe that even if you upgraded Greenback Bayou, or Dice Derby even with badges they would still keep people away that hate the games.. unless your a true badge hound (lol.. me), but how many will really sit through 50 ranks of greenback bayou? LOL
And i want to add I’m hoping they add Clue, as the Clue this site is thinking is wrong.. pogo said a Clue-hiding Object game, similar to Pictureka… not CLUE. (Saw that in your coming soon LOL)
Judy says
I have never played Stratego. I wish they would increase ranks in Spades, Pinochle , roller dice derby… and oh Hog Heaven..
Kelly says
First off let me say i LOVE pogo. The problem I am having is they need more original games. I’m might seem old fashion or outdated but I love the older games more than the newer ones. With that being said I would love to see the game Clue.
Robyn says
Just the title, “Stratego,” already hurts my brain…the way Luna brought back Candyland memories, I was kinda hopin’ for THAT game instead! Of course, I had the “vintage” version….no Queen Frostine or anyone like that. You can see why Stratego might be a challenge for me – but hey – I’m always up for a challenge…it better pay big tokens though (LOL)
Sapphire23 says
I agree, Uno and Skip-bo would be great for pogo, and Candyland would be awesome too, I used to play that game for HOURS on end. Pogo could update the heck out of those games, the possibilities are endless…
Alec says
i have always loved stratego, because everyone that can’t stand Risk because it’s too long (not me I love Risk) would love Stratego. i mean who doesn’t love a good ‘ol game of capture the flag? More Hasbro games you say. Well DEFINITLEY Life and Candy Land :]
