Coming Soon: Scoring Changes

by Lura on August 17, 2010

Pogo has just announced that in the coming weeks they will be making some changes to the scoring in Mahjong Safari and Sweet Tooth 2. To “have more consistency” across Pogo games, the changes are as follows:

Mahjong Safari: The in-game score will now be reported as your high score. Your high score will no longer match tokens won, so your score will be higher. There will be no change to the number of tokens you earn.

Sweet Tooth 2: Gold Coins will now be worth 200 points each – double from what they were before! Removing a caramel square will now earn you 5 points. You’ll see a slightly higher token payout.

Changes aside, the most interesting part of their announcement is the hint of “something fun” coming soon:

Why the changes? Well… for now, all we can say is that there’s something fun coming down the pike that we can’t talk about, but we think you’ll really like!

Thanks to Suz for bringing this to our attention!

Weekend Open Thread

Pogo Mini Snapshot: Black Cat Crossing!Happy Weekend Everyone!

Ask and ye shall receive! This week Pogo re-released four of their previously-retired Premium Badge Albums. It was also a good week for Clue fans, with the release of Liaison in London. And for our Tuesday Tips, we talked about Canasta. Feel free to chime in with your Canasta tricks, hints, and tips for other Pogo players!

While maintaining this site, I’ve been re-noticing a lot of Pogo’s quirks lately through the eyes of the newcomers to the site. These weird quirks and glitches are things I’d come to expect from Pogo as someone who has played there for a number of years. For example, during this week’s challenge in Word Whomp Whackdown, clicking a name in the Who’s Here list will pause the timer. Other things include the quirky way room setup for multiplayer games has to be accessed from the room list as opposed to the Play Now button, and how free token offers aren’t always credited to your account immediately, especially if you’re in a game room at the time you click on them. These things are just normal for me, but newcomers to Pogo — or to BadgeHungry — might not know about them. I am not going to pretend I have the time or energy to put together a FAQ yet, but maybe we can start addressing common problems and concerns in this thread for future reference.

What Pogo quirks would you share with a newcomer to make their Pogo experience a little more smooth? Is there a question that’s always asked that you can answer? Help out a newbie here with your best tip, trick, or hint about Pogo!

See you in the comments!
