Pogo’s got another sweepstakes running from November 13th through 27th in Battleship. According to the official rules, each time you load the game you’ll be entered to win a prize pack with 8 Touchscreen Pocket Pogo Games (um, there are only 7…) and $500. One winner will get the big package, ten others will win one Touchscreen Pocket Pogo game. Good luck!

Pocket Pogo Handhelds in Stores Now

Heads up! Over the weekend, some Target stores started carrying the Pocket Pogo handhelds in their toy departments. Our readers report the inventory has been pretty hit-or-miss — some stores don’t have them at all while others have the full range of both touchscreen and regular versions. (The touchscreen versions are more in demand, by the way, because you can earn tokens and badges — both versions give you a free month of Club Pogo.) Pogo’s web site states you can purchase them offline at K-mart and Wal-mart too, but nobody’s reported being able to find them there yet. Here’s a Pogo marketing page on the handhelds.

If your local Target doesn’t have them yet, consider ordering or pre-ordering your handhelds from Entertainment Earth. (The non-touchscreen versions are available now.) They’ll be shipping shortly, though a few of the handhelds are already out of stock. My early pre-order is currently “processing”.

Instructions for Pocket Pogo Games

Pogo’s added instructions for all of their upcoming Pocket Pogo games to their help site. (These Pocket Pogo games will be released in August.) Each of these goes over the different game modes and gives you a pretty good idea of what the games are going to be like. Also included are details of how you’ll be redeeming your tokens and “badges”. (We put quotes around “badges” because these will not show up with the normal badges in your Club Pogo badge album.) Pocket Pogo Games Rescheduled

The release of the Pocket Pogo touchscreen handhelds has been rescheduled, from the original release date of July to August. The release date of the non-touchscreen versions is still listed as July, however they may be subject to the same delays that the touchscreen versions were. (All dates listed are subject to change.)

If you previously pre-ordered and your order was canceled due to delay, we’re so sorry this happened. There was a miscommunication that caused Entertainment Earth to list them as “Cancelled” even though their production was just delayed. The web site has been updated, and they are available to pre-order once again if you’d like to do so.

Thanks everyone for your patience in this matter, rest assured we’re currently on schedule for an August release now!

Redeeming Pocket Pogo Awards and Tokens

A few readers have written in to ask how the Pocket Pogo games will be able to transfer the tokens and badges they earn to their Pogo accounts. We’re not entirely sure, and even the FAQ is a little fuzzy (at least on how we’ll be able to transfer tokens, if at all), but we do know that the badges (a.k.a. “in-game awards”) will have a code associated with them that you’ll be able to enter.

(For what it’s worth, we tried to register using that registration number up there, and it came back with an error. Don’t bother trying it for yourself. *smirk*)

At this point we still don’t know if the advertised “earn tokens” means you’ll get tokens for just registering the device or you’ll also be able to earn tokens by playing the games. We also don’t know if the badges you’ll earn as “in-game awards” will count toward your badge total or if they’re just a separate entity confined to the Pocket section of your profile. Time will tell!

Pogo Adds Pockets to Profiles

Have you looked at your profile today? Maybe you should… Pogo’s added a section called “My Hasbro Pocket Page” to all of our profiles, for both Club and non-Club members. Right now it’s just marketing text — and we assume it’ll stay that way until (unless?) you buy one of the Pogo Pocket handhelds, link it (them?), to your account and start earning badges.

If you’re interested in more information about the Pocket Pogo handhelds straight from Pogo, check out Pogo’s FAQ on the left hand side of the registration page. You can also click through to each individual (touchscreen) handheld’s page, which has some nice marketing text and the requirements and badges that we told you about earlier.

Some of you may not be sold on these handhelds (especially after this unannounced and non-optional change to your profiles) but if you don’t want to wait until they hit stores, we’ve teamed up with Entertainment Earth so you can pre-order Pocket Pogo games so they’ll be shipped to you when they’re released in July.

Here are images of the badges you can earn in the handheld Pocket Pogo games coming this summer. We suspect the black and white versions are the placeholder badges that will show in your profile when you’ve registered one of the game devices and attached it to your account, but before you’ve actually earned the badges. (This is similar to the black and white badges that show in a premium album after you’ve purchased it but before you’ve gotten the badge.)

As you can see, these are not the typical size nor shape of Pogo Badges. They will have a special place on your profile page, just underneath the Favorite Badge book and just above your Guestbook.

When you purchase one of these handheld game devices, you’ll be able to visit a page on Pogo’s web site to “attach” the device to your account. Registering Touch Screen devices will give you the ability to earn tokens and badges. Registering non-Touch Screen Pocket Pogo devices will give you a 30-day Club Pogo membership (and if you already have a Club Pogo membership, you’ll receive an additional 30 days at the end of your current subscription).

We’ve teamed up with Entertainment Earth so you can buy Pocket Pogo games on a pre-order basis so they’ll be delivered to you in July when they are released.

Pocket Pogo Games Coming This Summer

Kiss your free time goodbye! This summer, you’ll be able to keep Pogo in your pocket. There are a bunch of Pocket Pogo handheld games coming out that are similar to the games you already love on Pogo, and in addition with the touchscreen versions you can earn up to a million tokens and badges you can transfer to your Pogo account. Each handheld also appears to come with a free month pass to Club Pogo.

Here are the touch screen Pocket Pogo games that’ll allow you to earn tokens and badges offline and redeem them online: Yahtzee, Scrabble, Word Whomp, Battleship, Solitaire, Jewel Bash, and Casino Island.

There are also Pogo Pocket handhelds that don’t appear to have the capability to earn badges and tokens, but they still come with a free month to Pogo: Monopoly Slots, Battleship, Yahtzee, and Connect 4 non-touchscreen versions.

These handhelds will be released sometime in July. The touch screen versions should be under $30 and the regular handheld Pocket Pogo games should be under $15. We’ve teamed up with Entertainment Earth so you can buy Pocket Pogo games on a pre-order basis so they’ll be delivered to you in July when they are released.
