Pogo Mini Snapshot: 29 again!Happy Weekend Everyone!

This past week was pretty interesting in Pogo-land. After much outrage and anger over the Tri-Peaks Stone Idol badge, Pogo changed the badge to a Special Edition (though it’s still not actually been changed…yet). It’s pretty rare that Pogo changes a live badge, and usually when they do it’s to change the badge requirements, not change the type of the badge. This week, their change affected the availability of the badge and the response has been mixed.

It was a hot hot hot discussion topic and as much as I personally would like to shove it off the table, I’m sure people will still want to talk about it. Instead we can talk perhaps about other badges in the past that were changed? There’s always the infamous Quackadoodle badge. Earlier this week, Rick brought up the “Hiiiiyaaaaahhhhh!!!” badge for Pop Fu, from Dec. 14, 2005 which originally required you to complete the bonus round 75 times but now it’s 40. What other badges have been changed that you remember? Maybe we can compile a list together.

Do you US folk have any big plans for the upcoming holiday week? Who’s traveling the longest distance to celebrate? I hope you all have a great upcoming week and Happy Thanksgiving!

The usual rules apply: you can talk about or ask anything you want about Pogo-related things in the Weekend Open Thread — just be nice to each other and to me, last week really stretched out my moderating muscles and they need the rest.

See you in the comments!

Pogo Mini Snapshot: You can keep your blankets.Happy Weekend Everyone!

I hope you’re not too busy working on your challenges this week to take a little time out to come chat with us this weekend! There’s lots to talk about from this week: Monopoly’s getting more ranks, Pogo’s working on a new PBA, more mini awards are on their way, and of course there’s always non-Pogo things to talk about! I only ask that if you want to weigh in on the weekly challenges that you do so in the challenge thread itself, let’s try to keep this weekend thread a negativity-free zone! You know: peace, love, and badges and all of that good stuff. *hugs a tree*

I was saddened to have to make this post about Pogo laying off one of their amazingly talented graphic artists, but it was bittersweet because we now get to see some of Pogo’s recent concept art. It just goes to show that as much information as we bring to you about the goings-on at Pogo, there’s always so much more going on behind-the-scenes that we don’t know about, some of which seems so foreign to us now and some of which will never see the light of day.

If you could direct the Pogo team to create any fantasy project at all, what would it be? Don’t feel limited by Pogo’s web site (it could be a whole new web site or web concept) or any previous projects or ideas they may have worked on. Let the creativity flow! Sky’s the limit!

Pogo Mini Snapshot: Butter Me Up!Happy Weekend Everyone!

November’s started off with quite a bang — lots going on as usual in Pogoland! How many of you out there have completed all of the new stuff, mix-n-matches, premium album, jigsaw case, weekly badges, and the Thanksgiving limited edition badge?

This weekend, feel free to ask any burning questions, ask for help, or offer help or tips or hints for anything Pogo-related. We’ll try to get your problems solved and help everyone out. Also, if there’s a badge you’ve been putting off, maybe someone here can help — feel free to bring it up.

See you in the comments!

Please note: We know Pogo has crashed a couple times so far this weekend (tokens unavailable, service unavailable, et cetera). There is no need to panic — they’re surely working behind the scenes to fix whatever is causing this. If the site goes down again, your tokens and minis and badges will be restored when the site comes back up.

Pogo Mini Snapshot: Time to Trick or Tweet!Happy Weekend Everyone!

I can’t believe Pogo gave us so much to do this week! On top of a personal challenge marathon, we’ve got the special weekend challenge. Phew! Aren’t we supposed to be putting the finishing touches on our Halloween costumes and getting ready to go trick-or-treattweeting? How are you doing with getting it all done?

Speaking of putting on costumes, let’s talk about our Minis and earning Mini Awards! Do you have all the Mini Awards available? Do you play a game just to get a Mini Award item? Do you go after the Mini Awards like you do badges? Do you use them in your Mini after you have won them?

I hope you have a great, safe Halloween weekend and I hope we’ll see you in the comments!

Pogo Mini Snapshot: i has cattitudeHappy Weekend Everyone!

This has been a ridiculously busy week for Pogo, it seems like every time I blinked they were adding something new to the site! (Battleship, forums, Facebook, oh my!) There were a ton of new posts added this week, so if you haven’t been keeping up with the site, make sure to scroll all the way down the page and check out previous entries for anything you may have missed. As usual there are some lively and fantastic discussions going on down there.

Mike wrote in this morning to ask if I knew of a policy for Pogo adding new ranks and badges to pre-existing games. After all, it’d be a great way to get players back into playing some of the great older games that Pogo built its reputation on (and it seems to have worked for Canasta, Tri-Peaks Solitaire, and that got more ranks and badges before). At this point, I’d assume Pogo is really focused on their Hasbro partnership and producing new games, but there’s always a possibility they’d revisit an older game with new badges and ranks.

What current Pogo games would you like to see have more ranks and badges?

As usual, if you don’t feel like answering the question, or if you just feel like talking about something else — go ahead. The weekend open thread is the place where you can leave comments, questions, or anything that didn’t fit elsewhere this week.

Pogo Mini Snapshot: Tangerine Nightmare?Hi everyone, Happy Weekend!

It was pretty busy around here this week, don’t forget to scroll down the page (and maybe view a page or two of previous posts if needed) to get caught up on the latest news! You may want to check out the following category archives for the latest news on Puck’s Peak and Battleship too.

Also, if you’re on Twitter, I urge you to follow @bagdehungry or if you’re not on Twitter, keep an eye on my feed in the right sidebar — sometimes I often post little bits of information there that don’t necessarily warrant a full blog post.

For this weekend’s open thread, there isn’t a topic. Because of giveaways and wildly popular discussion topics, the threads for the past few weeks have been full of newcomers and regulars chatting away happily. The only drawback is when the threads get over 100-200 comments, sometimes questions and requests start to get lost in the mix. I wanted to make sure that everyone’s questions get answered this weekend, so if you have a burning question (whether you asked it before or not), go ahead and ask! If you need help with a badge, go ahead and ask. We’re here to help! If you don’t have a question, please feel free to just say hi! We’d love to hear from each and every one of you.

See you in the comments!

Pogo Mini Snapshot: Winston's Revenge: A "Turkey" Dinner!Happy Weekend Everyone!

Last weekend during the open thread, we’d started discussing gems so I wanted to bring them back up for this weekend. It seems like we all can agree that Pogo should increase the frequency of gems in the jackpot spins and gem giveaways in general, but let’s put the “gimme gimme” mentality aside for a bit.

Do you buy gems? If so, what do you spend them on (Mix-n-Match badges? PBAs? Mini Mall items?) and how quickly are you burning through them? I’d also like to hear from people who have actually won gems in a jackpot spin; I’m wondering exactly how rare it is since I’ve only heard of a handful of winners over the span of the time gems have been available.

Okay, now back to “gimme”! I’m also going to do another giveaway this weekend! (Big thanks to StBernard for donating Club Pogo passes this week!) When I close this weekend open thread on Sunday evening I’ll pick ten commenters at random to each win two 3-month passes to Club Pogo. To enter, just leave a thoughtful comment. The only things that’ll disqualify you are spelling my name wrong and trying to stuff the entry box by posting too many useless comments. If you don’t want to be entered for whatever reason, just say so.

See you in the comments, BadgeHungry Pogo fans!

Pogo Mini Snapshot: Halloween: This isn't Grandma's house?!?!Happy Weekend Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s October already! For a lot of us, summer’s officially over, the leaves are starting to change to their autumn hues, and the weather is cool and crisp — perfect for dog walks and opening windows to air out the house. I love love love it! (I heard the rest of the country isn’t experiencing such loveliness: heat in some parts and ..uhwhat?!?.. snow elsewhere.) I hope whatever Mother Nature throws at you, wherever you are, that you find a way to enjoy this special time of year.

And speaking of special times of the year — Halloween has officially started in Pogoland! What did you think of the creepycrawly release this week? And to mark October, we got the latest batch of Mix-n-Match badges; there’s some nice tip-sharing going on in the October Mix-n-Match thread.

This week’s short and sweet question comes from Linda: How did you find BadgeHungry?

As usual in this thread, you can talk about anything that didn’t quite fit in another thread during the course of the week, so don’t feel obligated to answer the question or be limited by its scope. Feel free to ask for help on a badge, give help or hints or tips, or just chat about whatever you’d like.

Pogo Mini Snapshot: The dog ate my mini idea!Happy Weekend Everyone!

Did you see the Letters to the Editor this week? Boy, they sure dropped a bomb in this one:

Editor: Pogo has thought about chat forums for a long time now. And we’re still thinking about them. Why? Well, because we’ll be launching them. When? Soon. Define “soon?” Sometime in the future! ;)

What do you think of the idea of Pogo adding forums to their site? Do you think it’ll add to the Pogo community or detract? Do you think you’ll participate? (I have some pretty strong opinions on this, I’ll chime in with a comment toward the end of the weekend, so as not to influence anyone.)

It’s been kind of a quiet week around here, so let’s spice things up with another giveaway, shall we? This weekend, I’ll be choosing 10 commenters at random to win two 3-month Club Pogo passes (that’s six months of free Pogo). To earn an entry, just leave a comment below answering the question above.

(The rules: though you may earn multiple entries by making multiple relevant comments, only one prize per person. If you don’t want an entry say so. This thread will be open for comments until approximately 8pm EST on Sunday evening. Please use a valid email address so I can give you your prize. I reserve the right to change or add rules as needed.)

Also, don’t forget: even with all of this contest/sweepstakes/giveaway stuff, this is still the weekend open thread, you can still ask for help, offer help, talk about the latest happenings, ask questions, whatever you’d like.

See you in the comments!

Pogo Mini Snapshot : Ready for Fall!Happy Weekend Everyone!

What a great week it’s been! There seemed to be something new to post about every time I blinked! If you missed any, here are this week’s posts:

* Ranks and Badges added to BadgeHungry
* Sneak Peek: Out of this World PBA
* Beaker Creatures Secret Badge
* Block Builder in Development
* Pogo Beta Program Wrap Up
* Halloween Preview

And of course, we had this week’s challenges. There was a lot of talk about whether challenges have become too luck-based and/or too easy as well as some talk about how many tokens people were losing with Monopoly Slots.

Over the course of the week, a lot of people have mailed in and tweeted to me about the beta invitation and rejection letters. I’d like to pose the following questions:

If you were invited: what do you think you did on your application that got you invited? Do you have any wisdom to impart to your fellow fans who weren’t chosen?

If you weren’t invited: do you think you know why you weren’t chosen? What are you going to try differently next time?

See you in the comments!
