Here are some random facts about Tri-Peaks 2: Quest for the Ruby Ring that you may or may not know. Some of these are tips, some of these are just things we’ve found interesting as we’ve been playing.
• When you play the game and are not connected and are not in a game room, you play as you normally would. However, instead of minis getting trapped, Ally Carter gets trapped. You have three minutes to clear 5 peaks, and when you do you still get a portion of the rescue booty.
• If you right-click, you can draw the next card in the deck. You can right-click anywhere on the screen to make this happen.
• Once you have found all 57 relics, you may visit any area on the map (India, China, Easter Island, Panama, or Area 52) to gain more jackpot spins and thus more ranks (and badges).
• Contrary to rumors, there are no hidden areas or relics. (cry cry cry!)
• If you’re a trapped mini and you get a streak of 7 cards or more, you will send a Wild Card to every other player. They’ll thank you for this, so try to do it.
• If you don’t save a mini (either connected or not), nothing bad happens to you or them, but nobody gets a share of the rescue booty (which can be tokens and rubies).
• For right now, it seems as if the game disconnects from the internet when it encounters a full room. To remedy this, click on the “Connect” button at the bottom middle of your screen, then choose “Play” at the left. When given a list of game rooms, choose one that is lower than 19 players or use the “Play Now” button, which will put you into a room that has a space for you.
• If you have problems with the game running slowly (or choppy, or crashing), go into Options and uncheck “Video Acceleration”. Unchecking “Full Screen Mode”, “Millions of Colors”, and “Enhanced Cursor” has also helped players who otherwise could not play the game successfully.
• If you have collected all of the relics and stop gaining ranks, Pogo has written up a solution/workaround.
If you have tips, hints, or special information about this game that you’ve found helpful, please send us an email and let us know what you’ve found. Everyone is so impressed with the mini items you can receive in Tri-Peaks Deluxe/Tri-Peaks 2 Quest for the Ruby Ring. We’ve taken some screenshots of our minis all dressed up in the outfits, backgrounds, and goodies. Here you go!
First up, when you’ve received three jackpot spins, you’ll receive the India/Mughal Mansion set: an Indian suit costume, Mughal Mansion background, and the Lil’ Pachi goodie.

At 10 jackpot spins, you’ll get the Deep in China mini items: a Chinese suit, the Deep in China background, and the foo dog goodie.

When you’ve received 24 jackpot spins, you’ll receive the Easter Island/Rapa Nui mini set: a Rapa Nui suit, the Rapa Nui background, and the Why the Long Face goodie (ha!).

Everyone’s favorite seems to be the Panama/Swabbin’ the Deck pirate mini set you receive at 47 jackpot spins: a Pirate suit, the Swabbin’ the Deck background, and the Trippin’ Over Treasure goodie.

Being the computer geeks we are, our favorite mini award set is the Area 52/”Upload Completed…” mini items set you receive at 57 jackpot spins: an Alien suit, the Upload Completed background, and the Lil’ Lugnut goodie.

By this point, you should be around Rank 11 and you may think you’re done with the game (with the exception of getting to rank 50 and receiving the other four game award badges). Now, we’re not certain, but there are rumors going around of hidden areas, secret premium badge awards, and other surprises. If you run across one, let us know and if we run across anything new, you know we’ll be posting it!
This week’s Letters to the Editor is chock full of information.
First up, Word Search Daily has been displaying two January calendars and no February calendar. Rest assured, Pogo is aware of the problem and will have it solved shortly. In the meantime, don’t use the calendar to choose your puzzles, but “Play Daily Puzzle”. This will choose the most recent uncompleted puzzle and will allow you to work backwards in order to catch up, if need be.
With regards to Tri-Peaks 2, the Quest for the Ruby Ring, Pogo has received some praise, and some serious reports that players are being unceremoniously booted from the game and/or freezing up. Once again, rest assured, Pogo is collecting further information and hopes to have the problems resolved soon.
The Winter 2008 Super Badge has caused some to write in with questions. One player wanted to know how they could earn it if they’d already finished all of their yearly albums (and therefore had no personal challenges to choose). You can always re-do a challenge — for any reason, but also to earn a Super Badge. We recommend you choose a challenge you enjoyed, one that you completed quickly, or one that rewards a high amount of tokens. It’s up to you! But remember, as the editor had to remind someone this week, game award badges do not count toward a Super Badge, as much as we’d all love that!
And last, but not least, the editor addressed the recent disappearance of the Card Masters premium badge album. If you haven’t purchased it yet, you may notice that it’s disappeared from Badge Central, and it’s not available to give as a gift for those who have it already. Pogo assures us it was removed from the site prematurely, but it’ll return soon, and it’ll be on sale to boot.
There are a few other topics we didn’t cover, so check out this week’s Letters to the Editor if you want to read it all for yourself.
Tri-Peaks 2: Quest for the Ruby Ring was released this morning. “Complete hands avoiding hazards, collecting artifacts & exploring hidden temple sites. Collect valuable rubies for Pachinko-style bonus games. Earn ranks, badges, custom outfits and backgrounds. Play alone or team up with 19 other players.” We’ve already figured out that the game has 50 ranks and those are listed in our tracker so you can keep track of your progress, but we haven’t added any badge markers yet. You’ll earn your first badge just for trying the game, so get started!
We’ll have more to say later, but right now we’re off to play!
In honor of Valentine’s day, Pogo has given us a nice Valentine’s day page, the most important part of which is a 25% off code for downloadable games. Just enter coupon code valentine at purchase. But the fine print says it’s valid on regularly priced games $19.95 or higher and it’s not valid on Tri-Peaks2. Given that this code is valid from February 1st through 15th, we at least know that Pogo expects Tri-Peaks2 to be released before February 15th.
