Here’s a look at the upcoming Mix-n-Match badges for August 2009. As usual, each of these will cost 16 gems and they’ll most likely be released on the evening of July 31st. The challenges themselves are subject to change before release — last month there were many challenges that had their objectives changed between the sneak peek and the actual release.

Pogo’s creating another Premium Badge Album called “Play to Win”. It’ll have ten challenges and badges, and one album completion badge. We don’t have specifics on the challenges yet, but from the looks of the animated badges (which all have a competitive sports theme), they’ll be in Sudoku Puzzle Blast, Yahtzee Party, Crazy Cakes, Bingo Luau, Payday FreeCell, Trivial Pursuit Daily 20, Sock Hop Slots, and two more we haven’t figured out yet (maybe Mahjong Safari and Penguin Blocks)! We’ll make a more formal post when we have the final details.

It’s Casino Night again! Don’t forget to play Sock Hop Slots, Turbo 21, and Lost Temple Poker today for 2,000 tokens per game.

Some people have reported being able to get their 6,000 tokens twice during the day, once in the morning and once later in the evening.

It feels like we’ve been waiting for Sock Hop Slots for a very long time, but that wait is finally over. Sock Hop Slots was released today. It plays just like Ali Baba Slots and Spooky Slots and has 5 rank badges you can earn at ranks 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50.

We’ve gotten a sneak peek of Sock Hop Slots and we were surprised to find it isn’t really related to Showbiz Slots. It does, however, model the latest slots offerings from Pogo (like Ali Baba Slots and the special Spooky Slots) with a story mode and ranks and badges. It features a character named Ducky and we believe the story will center around his 50’s-inspired musical career.

The graphics for the game’s reels include musical notes, stars, pianos and the main character Ducky. The slot machine itself is modeled after a jukebox: the arm of the machine is an old-style microphone! Each rank will be represented by a guitar which will sit above the pay table to the left of the machine.

The story will advance via musical notes gained by getting a Ducky symbol on the reels (perhaps a few times before a musical note is awarded). The ranks will be achieved as players collect the musical notes. There will be 5 badges, awarded at ranks 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50.

If you’re a fan of Spooky Slots and the updated Ali Baba Slots, you’ll be glad to hear that Pogo is working on a new story-based slot machine game called Sock Hop Slots. The 50 ranks will be depicted as guitars (from a flying V to triple neck electric guitar) and there will be 5 badges. As with Ali Baba Slots and Spooky Slots, Sock Hop Slots will advance ranks by story bonuses.

Update 8/5: Sock Hop Slots and Showbiz Slots III are seemingly the same thing, and the game is planned to be released as “Sock Hop Slots”.
