Well, not only is case #70 delayed, it will be the last for Pogo.com’s Jigsaw Detective game.

Today’s News and today’s Letters to the Editor cover it all. The last case will be posted soon and after that there will be no more. The game will stay active on the site indefinitely and we’ll always be able to complete any of the previous 70 puzzles at any time.

After nearly six years of new monthly puzzles in Jigsaw Detective, the story is coming to a dramatic conclusion. If you’ve been following the various cases in Jigsaw Detective, then you’re familiar with the gritty theme and our hard-boiled hero, the Jigsaw Detective. Big city, big mysteries. You’ve been helping him solve them for years now.

Well, like any great series, it’s time for this one to come to an end. The game itself will remain available, but our Jigsaw Detective will be retiring… maybe in Florida. Maybe in Cancun. It’s likely he’ll need to keep it a secret after everything he’s experienced. We can’t give anything away, so stay tuned…

Goodbye, Jigsaw Detective!

Update: Jigsaw Detective is coming to an end!

I’m buried under an absolute landslide of emails and comments asking about June’s Jigsaw Detective case which is now over 36 hours late. I had been waiting for an official response from Pogo about the missing case, but since the emails and comments are still flowing in and I have yet to receive a word from my contacts, I am going to share with you what I do know so far. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to do this sooner.

As most of you know, the monthly Jigsaw Detective cases are usually loaded on Pogo’s web site on the evening of the last day of each month, but that didn’t happen on Monday. In the Jigsaw Detective game, there is usually a “coming soon” case at the end of the case list, but there wasn’t one for June. This has led to some unsubstantiated rumors that Jigsaw Detective is going to be shelved. I do not believe this to be true.

What I do believe is another rumor I’ve heard, that there was a problem on Pogo’s end with getting the puzzle out and the Jigsaw Detective puzzle is ready to go but it’s going to take a few days to load. It’s not official and it’s not for sure, but it’s the best I’ve got at this point.

As usual, stay tuned here for any updates — I’ll post them as I receive any news.
