For those of you who have been waiting for Pogo’s latest time management game, Crazy Cakes has been released.

We’ll admit we nearly jumped out of our chairs when we saw the headline of the latest Pogo Insider: “Exclusive Sneak Peak to a New Game!” (and of course we had to use the sneaky marketing ourselves, but with proper spelling). Sadly, it wasn’t so exclusive: just the tour page for Crazy Cakes.

Due to (what we assume was) a technical error, the badges for Crazy Cakes were already pushed to the live server, affording us a sneak peek at the five “unreleased” badges and chat icons for the game.

We’ve got more of these “unreleased” badges to show you for some other upcoming games, so stay tuned!
If the tutorial wasn’t enough information for you about How to Play Crazy Cakes, the rules are now available.
Here are just a few of the things we’ve learned from the full ruleset: it’ll be a Club Pogo game, there will be tons of powerups, each rank you earn will grant you a dessert recipe you can print out and bake, and you won’t need to win the game to progress in rank, just serve a lot of customers.
We told you we’d tell you when we had more news on the new re-name for Plate Spinner. It’ll be “Crazy Cakes”.
The name “Plate Spinner” did seem a little weird, we’ll admit. The latest word on the street is that Pogo will be changing the new game’s name to something else before release, but they haven’t decided what it’ll be yet. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear word of its new name.
We got a peek at Plate Spinner yesterday and those of you who love time-management games will be delighted! Time management games, for those of you not familiar with them, are like Pogo’s Makeover Madness (although most time management games make Makeover Madness look like child’s play). The most popular games of this genre are Diner Dash and Cake Mania (and have spawned many other titles, like Burger Island, Wedding Dash, Nanny Mania, Doggie Dash, Pizza Chef, and so many more). They all involve juggling a number of different tasks in order to make your customers happy.
Plate Spinner is a “Fairytale Bake Sale” where you cook up fruit-flavored pastries and serve them to customers. You’ll be able to earn combos by fulfilling successive orders for goodies of the same flavor or type. From happy customers, you’ll earn either powerups or tips. Different customers will have different attitude (for example, elves are very impatient and should be served first). Each round has a goal (like a certain amount of tips) and upon completion of that goal you’ll get a medallion. Five medallions will earn you a jackpot spin.
For a more in-depth look, check out the Plate Spinner Tutorial we have posted.
And if you’re as excited as we are and can’t wait for Plate Spinner to come out on Pogo, check out some great downloadable time management games to pass the time. All of these games have an hour free trial and you can get two for less than $10 each.
Plate Spinner, as previously reported, will have 50 ranks and 5 badges. The badges will be awarded at ranks 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50; the badge names are as follows:
Rank 10: Cookie Chef
Rank 20: Muffin Master
Rank 30: Pie Paragon
Rank 40: Brownies Beyond Belief
Rank 50: Perfect Pastry Wizard
The badges for Plate Spinner have been created. There are five of them, and some seem to correspond with the in-game (test) challenges leaked through various forums.
• Meet your quota without losing customers! (Customers are considered lost if they leave while waiting for an order.)
• Serve 100 customers!
• Serve 50 humans!
• Serve 20 elves!
• Serve 30 dwarves!
• Serve 10 wizards!
• Serve 30 trolls!
• Serve 5 lime cakes!
• Serve 20 grape desserts!
• Give out 5 flowers!
• Win 3 rounds without any waste! (Waste counts as items trashed, or desserts left over on trivets at the end of a round.)
Each badge features a character and a fruit-flavored baked good. The first one shows a human female and a cherry pie. The second has a male dwarf and a lemon muffin. The third is a male elf and a grape pie. The fourth has a male troll with a piece of lime cake. The fifth and final badge shows a wizard with a whole blueberry cake.
From the challenges listed and the look of these badges, it appears that this game will be very similar to Makeover Madness but with a few special challenges added.
There’s a new game in development called (at least for the time being) Plate Spinner. It will have 50 ranks and 5 badges and will be recipe-themed. (Could it be a Diner Dash-style game?) We don’t have enough details to put together a more informative post, but we’re working on getting more for you soon.
