Pogo has added two new games to their Pogo Games on Facebook app: Scrabble Sprint and Tumble Bees.

Scrabble Sprint

Scrabble Sprint is a fast-paced word-building game. To play, you form words of two letters or more off your letter rack. Each letter scores points and there are opportunities for multipliers on premium squares. You win the game by spelling as many words as possible to fill the board before time runs out. You earn xp in this game by building twenty or more 3+ letter words and/or by spelling one seven letter word per game.

Updated 11/4: Pogo has stated they’ll make Scrabble Sprint available on “regular” Pogo.com in the future. For those of you wondering, they’ve said the same of Poppit Sprint.

Tumble Bees on Facebook

Tumble Bees is the same game we know and love from Pogo.com. You earn xp in Tumble Bees on Facebook by spelling a 6+ letter word and/or an 8+ letter word.

Daily Specials on Facebook

In addition to these two new games, Pogo has added a second Daily Special for Club Pogo members on top of the regular Daily Special they’ve offered for a few weeks now. It pays out twice the xp and tokens as the regular Daily Special so it’s a nice perk for Club Pogo members who play on Facebook as well.

For more information about these games and the others available on Facebook, check out our recent posts about Pogo on Facebook. XP values for these games is available on our XP Values for Pogo Facebook Games page.

Puck’s Peak Added to Pogo on Facebook

by Lura on October 19, 2010

Puck's Peak on FacebookPogo has added Puck’s Peak to their Pogo Games on Facebook lineup. XP values for this game are listed on the Facebook XP page.

Pogo will be adding Phlinx and Tumble Bees to their Facebook offerings in the near future.

Today, Pogo has added four more games to their Pogo Games Facebook App. Three are games you already know and love (well, maybe love): Battleship, Rainy Day Spider Solitaire, and Payday Freecell. One’s an all-new game that’s so far exclusive to Facebook, Poppit Sprint!

Poppit! Sprint, a new game from Pogo Games on Facebook

Poppit Sprint looks a lot like regular Poppit with the multi-colored balloons, but once things get going it’s clear it’s a fast-paced and different game! To play, click groups of two or more balloons of the same color. Larger groups of five or more balloons will earn you power-ups. Those powerups can be used to create chain reactions and big groups equals big points. The clock is ticking, though so you’ve got to be fast!

In this game, you can unlock virtual prizes by collecting 5 coins in the playing field. When you collect all eight prizes you unlock the Pop Rocket stage and the Gold Coin powerup.

To advance your level on the Facebook app, you’ll earn xp by scoring over 100,000 and/or for a 40+ balloon super pop. These seem to to require some skill and/or luck — if you have any tips for achieving these goals please let us know in a comment below! Go check it out and please come back to share any hints or tips you have for this new game with us. Thanks!

Daily Special Now on Pogo Games on Facebook

by Lura on September 21, 2010

Pogo has added a neat feature to their Pogo Games App on Facebook! It’s called “Today’s Daily Special” and each day you’ll be able to earn extra tokens and xp. Every day will have a different challenge in one of the games on the app — for example, today’s challenge is to spell six four-letter words in Boggle Bash. The reward, as you see below, is 500 tokens and 10 xp.

Completing this challenge daily is just another way to earn more tokens and bonus items. Each day you load the Pogo Games App on Facebook, you also earn a spin for a Daily Token Bonus, which is doubled if you visit two days in a row. You also can earn extra tokens, above and beyond what you earn playing the games, and Mini Rewards by earning xp and leveling up. A post detailing what games earn you the most xp and the fastest is coming soon, so stay tuned!

Pogo Games on Facebook fans: Scrabble and Monopoly were also added to the games lineup today, and now listed as coming soon are Rainy Day Spider Solitaire, Payday Free Cell, and Battleship. Pretty soon we won’t have to visit Pogo.com at all anymore!

Pogo Games on Facebook Mini Reward goodie level 25As if the extra daily free tokens weren’t enough to make you want to play Pogo Games through Facebook, Pogo has rolled out Mini Rewards on their Pogo Games Facebook app. When you play the Pogo games on Facebook, you will earn experience points (xp) and tokens toward your Pogo account, and now you’ll also earn Mini Reward items as you climb through the 50 levels.

Each time you reach a new level, you earn at least one Mini Reward item, unlock several other mini items, and earn bonus tokens. Most are of the Facebook-exclusive rewards are goodies and every 5th level (5, 10, 15, 20, etc) the item you earn will be animated. The screenshot below shows the “earned” exclusive item on the left:

The rewards you ‘unlock’ are the same as the ones you can purchase on the regular Pogo site at the Mini Mall.

Play Your Pogo Favorites on Facebook

by Lura on March 23, 2010 · 24 comments

The Pogo Games Application Beta went live today on Facebook. Right now you can play ten different Pogo game favorites on Facebook: Poppit, Word Whomp, Boggle Bash, First Class Solitaire, Yahtzee, Turbo 21, Trivial Pursuit, Pogo Bowl, Lost Temple Poker, and Bingo Luau. These are the same games (and same game rooms) you can access through Pogo’s web site, just “wrapped up” in Facebook’s interface, which allows for Leaderboard displays amongst you and your friends. Right now they’re granting a few extra tokens if you go through the motions of playing a game, so it’s worth it to take a look at the Pogo Games Application if you’ve got a Facebook account.

Pogo Facebook Connect Privacy Resolved

by Lura on October 21, 2009 · 35 comments

Facebook logoLast night’s update to the Pogo Facebook Connect feature has resolved the privacy issues we’d been discussing yesterday. For players who have both Pogo and Facebook accounts, this is how it all works. (Also it’s worth noting this is probably how it was intended to work.)

If you’ve previously used a Pogo Facebook app — such as the Pogo Games Fanatic app — your accounts are probably “connected”. One way to check if your account is connected is to visit your Profile Privacy Settings (Guestbook, Guestbook Settings, Profile Privacy bar) and look for the section about Facebook. For the purposes of this article, I’ve created a fake Facebook profile (first name Badge, last name Fairy) and am connecting it to a previously-established Pogo profile.

Facebook settings in Profile Privacy

If your settings include the information in the screenshot above, your Facebook and Pogo accounts are connected. By default, the box to use your photo and name from Facebook is unchecked. (Yay privacy!) If you do not see the Facebook information in your Profile Privacy settings, your accounts are not connected.

As you can see, for a connected account, as long as the checkbox is not checked, your Facebook information (read: your name) will not be displayed on your profile when others view it. The drawback to this is that your Facebook friends will not be able to find you automatically and add you as a friend on Pogo. You can still always just tell them your username and have them add you the “old-fashioned way”.

Once your account is connected to Facebook, when you view your profile you will see this box:

Facebook Pogo connected, linked profile

Don’t panic! As long as that checkbox up there is unchecked, you are the only one who can see this information. If you were to check the box, anyone that has permission to see your profile (by default, everyone — but you can set those settings in the same place as the Facebook settings, see the screenshot above) will be able to see it too.

No matter if you’ve checked the checkbox or not, all connected accounts will display the Facebook ‘f’ icon next to their profiles in others’ friends lists:

Facebook 'f' icon next to name in friends list

Now, on to the fun stuff! If your accounts are connected (it doesn’t matter if your name and photo are being displayed on your Pogo profile or not), you can share badges you’ve earned on your Facebook profile. To do so, go to Badge Central and visit “My Collection”. Choose a badge you’d like to flaunt, and click the small Facebook ‘f’ icon next to it. You’ll be walked through the posting process and voila, your badge will show up on your Wall and on your friends’ home pages:

Facebook: Badge published to Wall

The option to publish a badge to Facebook is also available in the pop-up window when you earn a badge. You may want to be sparing with this feature, you have the ability to publish any number of badges you have ever earned or may earn in the future (the throttling is done by Facebook, but it’s not very strict). In writing this article, I spammed my Wall and friends list with 8 or 9 posts of the same badge, which would probably be pretty annoying to any Facebook friends you may have (good thing Badge Fairy has no friends)!

So, now that it’s working as intended (and your privacy is safe and secure once again), what do you think of these new features?

Pogo and Facebook Integration

by Lura on October 20, 2009 · 45 comments

Facebook logoThe Facebook Connect feature mentioned in this article has been updated to address the privacy issues and concerns we’ve brought up. A new, updated article has been posted: Pogo Facebook Connect Privacy Resolved. This article will remain in our archives, but comments will be closed.

Today, Pogo rolled out even more integration with Facebook. There are a bunch of places the integration shows up and in some cases it’s completely automatic. If you have an account on Pogo and on Facebook, you may need to take some steps to protect your personal privacy.

So, why is any of this a problem (and why are some Pogo users totally outraged at this change)? As we’ll show you later, if you previously used a Pogo Facebook app, your account is already linked and as of today your real name will be shown on your Pogo profile, which is by default a public profile. In other words, if you did nothing more than check out a Facebook Pogo app, your privacy is probably at risk.
