Stack ‘em - Chicken Squares Badge
Clear 999 yellow chickens this week!
For this challenge, play on Easy mode — you’ll get more chickens that way.
Shuffle Bump - Fun 31 Badge
Score 31 points or more in a single round 10 times this week!
You’ll want to aim for the 10’s. If you adjust your options, you may find it easier if you set your options to “No Wackiness” and set the Computer Player Aggressiveness to “Passive”.
Poppit! - Pandemonium Badge
Release 20 Panda Prizes this week!
You may be pretty sure the pandas are in hibernation after a while of trying for this badge, but persistence is key. You can release more than one panda per game, so you’ll be releasing a lot of prizes. Also, there is a Mix-n-Match “Poppin’ It” badge that challenges you to release 4,000 prizes in three weeks, so it’d be a good companion to activate while you’re working on Pandemonium. (Be forewarned — at 15 prizes per completed game, you might only completely 1/4 to 1/2 of the M&M challenge when you have completed this week’s challenge.)
Bingo Luau - Orchid Lei Badge
Get 20 Jackpot Spins this week!
This one’s pretty straightforward: whenever you cover enough balls to fill the SPIN meter, you’ll get a jackpot spin. It may not be the most competitive way to get this badge, but to save time you’ll want to play in the Cover All Sharing Rooms.
Dominoes - Hundred Hand Badge
Win 100 hands this week!
There’s not a lot beyond general dominoes strategy that we can tell you about this challenge. 100 hands may be time-consuming, so be sure to allocate some time to getting this badge. The good news is that you’ll be progressing towards your ranks with every point you earn, regardless of whether you win or lose.
Rainy Day Spider Solitaire - Cloud Burst Badge
Win 8 games this week!
If you’re not a big fan of this game, you’ll want to play this one on an easier difficulty level; it’ll go faster, but you won’t rank up or rack in tokens as quickly as on higher levels. Don’t forget to make use of your free cells, free columns, and the undo button.
Squelchies - Squishy Squelchies Badge
Reach the Jellyfish Bonus Round 12 times this week!
(Collect King Squelchies to unlock the Bonus Round!)
This one is a little tedious, especially if you’re not terribly fond of Squelchies (like some of us are). Collect King Squelchies (see image at left for an example of a blue one) by matching them with other similarly colored squelchies. Each time you get a King Squelchie, you’ll get a letter towards spelling BONUS. Once you spell bonus, then you get the bonus round. After you finish the bonus round, if you hit New Game, it seems you progress towards this badge faster.
There doesn’t seem to be a trick to getting the game to give you more King Squelchies, they just arrive along with the others. It doesn’t matter what level you play on, just be sure that once you see a King Squelchie that you go directly for it because if the round ends before you match it with another set of Squelchies, you won’t get the credit towards the bonus round.
High Stakes Pool - 9-Ball Badge
Win 9 “9-Ball” games this week!
This game should take no more than an hour or so, whether you are playing against humans or computers. Just make sure you’re on the 9-Ball tab when you choose a room. The object of the game is to hit balls 1 through 9 in that order into the pockets, more or less. The fastest way — although not the easiest way — to win the game is to sink the 9-ball by hitting first the required numbered ball into the 9-ball so it lands into one of the pockets. As we said, not easy, but we managed to line it up right twice today, so it’s at least possible.
Lottso! - Spare Change Badge
Activate the Charity Card 25 times this week!
This is a fairly straightforward challenge, but it could take some time to receive charity cards to activate. Instead of holding cards for the x2 or x3 bonus, you may want to clear cards quickly so that they may be replaced by a Charity card.
Turbo 21 - Pedal to the Metal Badge
Get 40 Jackpot Spins this week!
To get a jackpot spin in Turbo 21, you need to make thirteen 21’s in a game (or 10 while the “Easy Spin” power-up is active). If you’ve never played Turbo 21 before, you’ll want to stack cards in each lane so that the total value of the cards in one lane equals 21.
This week’s Letters to the Editor is chock full of information.
First up, Word Search Daily has been displaying two January calendars and no February calendar. Rest assured, Pogo is aware of the problem and will have it solved shortly. In the meantime, don’t use the calendar to choose your puzzles, but “Play Daily Puzzle”. This will choose the most recent uncompleted puzzle and will allow you to work backwards in order to catch up, if need be.
With regards to Tri-Peaks 2, the Quest for the Ruby Ring, Pogo has received some praise, and some serious reports that players are being unceremoniously booted from the game and/or freezing up. Once again, rest assured, Pogo is collecting further information and hopes to have the problems resolved soon.
The Winter 2008 Super Badge has caused some to write in with questions. One player wanted to know how they could earn it if they’d already finished all of their yearly albums (and therefore had no personal challenges to choose). You can always re-do a challenge — for any reason, but also to earn a Super Badge. We recommend you choose a challenge you enjoyed, one that you completed quickly, or one that rewards a high amount of tokens. It’s up to you! But remember, as the editor had to remind someone this week, game award badges do not count toward a Super Badge, as much as we’d all love that!
And last, but not least, the editor addressed the recent disappearance of the Card Masters premium badge album. If you haven’t purchased it yet, you may notice that it’s disappeared from Badge Central, and it’s not available to give as a gift for those who have it already. Pogo assures us it was removed from the site prematurely, but it’ll return soon, and it’ll be on sale to boot.
There are a few other topics we didn’t cover, so check out this week’s Letters to the Editor if you want to read it all for yourself.
