Pogo is really cranking out these Limited Edition Mix-n-Match Badges. They’ve got another one in the works with a definite Easter theme. As Spike paints an Easter egg, a baby chick pops out and steals his paintbrush. The animated chat icon for it is a little wobbling Easter egg. Totally cute.
This will probably be available for purchase for only the week of Easter and will be the Limited Edition price of 22 gems. We’ll let you know as soon as we get information on what the challenge will be and in what game.

According to the Pogo UK Community Centre, the Hearts Limited Edition Badge (the one we told you about earlier will be released tomorrow. (We’re assuming that’ll be the case for us in the US as well.)
“Look out for the special Valentine’s Limited Edition badge for Hearts, which will be released on Tuesday 12th February. It’ll be available for one week only, so make sure you get yours before February 19th! Our apologies to anyone who saw the badge advertised in the Club Pogo UK Insider newsletter, which incorrectly stated that the Hearts badge was out now.”

This week’s Letters to the Editor is chock full of information.
First up, Word Search Daily has been displaying two January calendars and no February calendar. Rest assured, Pogo is aware of the problem and will have it solved shortly. In the meantime, don’t use the calendar to choose your puzzles, but “Play Daily Puzzle”. This will choose the most recent uncompleted puzzle and will allow you to work backwards in order to catch up, if need be.
With regards to Tri-Peaks 2, the Quest for the Ruby Ring, Pogo has received some praise, and some serious reports that players are being unceremoniously booted from the game and/or freezing up. Once again, rest assured, Pogo is collecting further information and hopes to have the problems resolved soon.
The Winter 2008 Super Badge has caused some to write in with questions. One player wanted to know how they could earn it if they’d already finished all of their yearly albums (and therefore had no personal challenges to choose). You can always re-do a challenge — for any reason, but also to earn a Super Badge. We recommend you choose a challenge you enjoyed, one that you completed quickly, or one that rewards a high amount of tokens. It’s up to you! But remember, as the editor had to remind someone this week, game award badges do not count toward a Super Badge, as much as we’d all love that!
And last, but not least, the editor addressed the recent disappearance of the Card Masters premium badge album. If you haven’t purchased it yet, you may notice that it’s disappeared from Badge Central, and it’s not available to give as a gift for those who have it already. Pogo assures us it was removed from the site prematurely, but it’ll return soon, and it’ll be on sale to boot.
There are a few other topics we didn’t cover, so check out this week’s Letters to the Editor if you want to read it all for yourself.

Today we learned about the six badges available to players of Golf Solitaire. As you clear more and more hazards, you will achieve higher and higher ranks and earn badges at ranks 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40. In addition, there will be a special in-game award badge, which you can win when you complete 5 perfect holes in a round. The rank badges are as follows:
Rank 5: Bogie the Ghost Badge
Clear 520 hazards to earn this badge
Rank 10: Nine-Iron Chef Badge
Clear 1880 hazards to earn this badge
Rank 20: Rikki Six-Iron Badge
Clear 6040 hazards to earn this badge
Rank 30: Betty the Ballerina Badge
Clear 11,320 hazards to earn this badge
Rank 40: Super Caddy! Badge
Clear 17,960 hazards to earn this badge
Special Badge: Flawless Victory! Badge
Score perfectly on all five holes to earn this badge
Observant readers will note that these badge names do not line up with the badge names in the rules. For example, “The first rank you’ll earn, for instance, is Doug, the Surly Teenager. After that, you’ll get Olaf the Viking, then El Portador, the wrestlin’ caddy, and so on and so forth.” We’re not sure what to make of this quite yet, but we can tell you that the actual badge graphics match up with this list and not the current ‘how to play’ text.

A new Limited Edition badge is coming for Valentine’s 2008. If it’s anything like the previous limited edition badges, you’ll be able to buy it with 22 gems (the same way you buy Mix & Match challenges) during a specific time period (end of January through mid-February). The badge itself is animated (and features the Word Whomp gophers in love — aww how sweet!) and the chat icon is an animated “beating” heart. To get this badge, in addition to forking over your precious gems, you’ll have to play hearts and “take EXACTLY ZERO Hearts in 5 hands in 2 weeks!”

We just heard that there will be a “special” badge in the new Super Dominoes game for earning 100+ points in a single move. It’s called “Super Dominoes Club 100″.
