We’ve seen some of a set of really wonderful mini backgrounds and mini goodies that are Pogo-themed. The backgrounds are scenes of Thousand Island Solitaire, Bingo Luau, Sweet Tooth 2, and Hangman Hijinks. There are also some coordinating mini items: a beach ball and baby in a crib that are stylized like Hangman Hijinks and a Tumble Bees honey pot. We’re guessing these will be awarded in Pogo Addiction Solitaire or will be on sale at the time of its release. We’ll fill you in when we see more of the set or when we find out how these can be acquired!

In this week’s Letters to the Editor on the Pogo UK site, the Editor responded to a few burning topics that are lighting up the Pogo community world-wide.

Everyone was disappointed with the distinct lack of hearts and shmoopie-type Valentine’s mini items. We know that the “bling” was created last October and was waiting in the wings for an appropriate release date, however none of us really feel that Valentine’s Day was remotely appropriate. Well, the UK Editor actually apologized and admitted that they “somewhat overlooked” the mini mall amidst other Valentine’s Day celebrations on the site (the greeting card creator, the homepage adornments, the wallpapers, and more).

With respect to the two outages we all experienced last week, the UK Editor apologized twice for the outages, once to a writer who was just wondering what happened to the games and the other to a writer who felt it was unfair that the outages happened during a time when most US and Canadian players were asleep. Of course, outages are totally unplanned; it’s the maintenance that happens at scheduled times.

Perhaps being apologetic to your (cough, paying) customers is more acceptable in the UK than it is in the US? (The US Letters to the Editor this week didn’t mention this, nor the outages.)

In addition to the seven backgrounds we told you about earlier, Pogo has crafted up new animated backgrounds (one is especially cute: a field of sunflowers with smileys as their centers), two goodies (falling smileys and dancing smileys), and five (very strange) animal faces for your minis — a dog, a pig, a cow, a goat, and a monkey. We haven’t been able to put together a theme for these items other than “smileys”, but we thought you’d want to know they’re on their way soon.

Everyone is so impressed with the mini items you can receive in Tri-Peaks Deluxe/Tri-Peaks 2 Quest for the Ruby Ring. We’ve taken some screenshots of our minis all dressed up in the outfits, backgrounds, and goodies. Here you go!

First up, when you’ve received three jackpot spins, you’ll receive the India/Mughal Mansion set: an Indian suit costume, Mughal Mansion background, and the Lil’ Pachi goodie.

 

At 10 jackpot spins, you’ll get the Deep in China mini items: a Chinese suit, the Deep in China background, and the foo dog goodie.

 

When you’ve received 24 jackpot spins, you’ll receive the Easter Island/Rapa Nui mini set: a Rapa Nui suit, the Rapa Nui background, and the Why the Long Face goodie (ha!).

 

Everyone’s favorite seems to be the Panama/Swabbin’ the Deck pirate mini set you receive at 47 jackpot spins: a Pirate suit, the Swabbin’ the Deck background, and the Trippin’ Over Treasure goodie.

 

Being the computer geeks we are, our favorite mini award set is the Area 52/”Upload Completed…” mini items set you receive at 57 jackpot spins: an Alien suit, the Upload Completed background, and the Lil’ Lugnut goodie.

 

By this point, you should be around Rank 11 and you may think you’re done with the game (with the exception of getting to rank 50 and receiving the other four game award badges). Now, we’re not certain, but there are rumors going around of hidden areas, secret premium badge awards, and other surprises. If you run across one, let us know and if we run across anything new, you know we’ll be posting it!

We just found seven new mini backgrounds that might be coming soon to a mini mall near you! Some of them look more like greeting cards (”Thinking of you”, “Surprise”, and “Congrats!”, they read) than backgrounds, and the rest are a repeating pattern of smiley faces in various emotional states like emoticons (happy, sad/crying, sticking their tongues out, and winking). These are definitely a change-up from the usual scenery-type backgrounds we’ve been getting lately.

Tomorrow, Pogo will release the Mini-Bling we reported earlier. According to the latest Pogo Insider, “Live the good life with sparkling jewelry (yes, that means new hair!) and glitzy backgrounds. Shop ’till you drop starting this Thurs., 2/7!”

We are all particularly fond of the background shown on the right, the Pool Party. It’s animated, so you’ll need to purchase it with gems, but it’s just gorgeous! Worth every gem, right?

We think Pogo is teasing us… In our minis’ closets, under Goodies, today we found a Robo-blender 5000 — several pages back. When we looked at its information window, it read “Make smoothies in a fraction of the time with the latest in robotic convenience. Won in Word Riot Deluxe!” We don’t know what Pogo’s trying to tell us, but you might as well go check it out for yourself. At least it’s kind of cute!

It looks like Pogo’s got some bling coming to the Mini Mall in the near future. You’ll be able to dress your mini up with earrings, necklaces, sparkly vests (men), a goodie in the form of a jewelry stand, a hair hanky (men), and more. There are also several backgrounds to purchase, both with tokens and gems. We’ll let you know when they’ve been released, but in the meantime, start saving up your tokens and gems for these new items!

Today brings several new items to the Mini Mall: a couple costumes and backgrounds and a few goodies to dress up your mini. Be sure to take a look at what’s new and buy the items you want before they sell out.
